    Klopp left stunned by Reds
In a strange game at Anfield, Bournemouth was defeated 3-1, giving Liverpool its first victory of the new Premier League season. We noticed this.

ANFIELD, LIVERPOOL // Liverpool picked up its first victory of the year as the Reds defeated Bournemouth 3-1 in an odd match to mark their return to Anfield.

Antoine Semenyo took advantage of some careless play from the hosts’ defense to give Bournemouth the lead just minutes into the game, giving Liverpool a terrible start to the match.

As an out-of-sorts Liverpool continued to commit errors in its own half, tensions in Anfield were not exactly calmed. However, just before the half-hour mark, Luis Diaz’s outstanding goal helped to calm things down as the Reds finally started to find their way into the game.

Soon after, they took the lead when Dominik Szoboszlai was fouled and Mohamed Salah converted the ensuing penalty shot on the rebound.

The second half looked to be in jeopardy after Alexis Mac Allister was sent off, but Liverpool came up with the ideal remedy, quickly making it 3-1 through Diogo Jota to secure their first victory of the new campaign.

It’s challenging to start off worse than Liverpool did versus Bournemouth.

Jaidon Anthony appeared to have given the visitors the lead after only a minute due to a mix-up between Alisson and his defenders, but the offside flag saved the Reds’ face — albeit briefly.

Antoine Semenyo put the finishing touch on a loose touch from Trent Alexander-Arnold just a few moments later, leaving everyone in Anfield perplexed.

After stumbling with the ball at his feet, Alisson brought down Anthony, continuing the tense start. There was undoubtedly some unease in the air around Anfield.

Wataru Endo’s signing this week was prompted by the need for a new number six as well as the need for a new defender, but those needs do not excuse the self-inflicted issues today.

The situation was perhaps best encapsulated when the TV cameras cut to Jürgen Klopp midway through the first half, and the Liverpool manager was standing there with his mouth open, seemingly unable to believe what he was seeing from his team.

    Diaz made a simple decision.

five things were observed during Liverpool vs. Bournemouth, as Jürgen Klopp was stunned by Mohamed Salah's record.
Luis Diáz has had no such difficulty this season, in contrast to Liverpool’s defenders, who have yet to find their footing.

The former Porto player had a scorching preseason and has continued that form into the current campaign. His goal at Chelsea was followed by an exquisite overhead finish to tie Liverpool.

The Colombian was cruelly denied to the Reds for a large portion of last season, and he is currently illuminating what they might have missed. With Diogo Jota, Cody Gakpo, and Darwin Nunez all vying for the position at position nine, Klopp’s front three essentially only require one decision thanks to Jota’s recent form.

    Salah set a new record.

Mohamed Salah would have undoubtedly felt a little better after scoring his first goal of the season, even if it wasn’t exactly how he had hoped, after last week’s disappointment at Stamford Bridge.

The Egyptian, who had his penalty saved by Neto, was quick to respond and score on the ensuing rebound to further his record-breaking status.

After scoring his 187th goal in red, Salah, 31, has now passed Steven Gerrard to move into the top five all-time scorers for Liverpool.

Salah is now only ahead of Ian Rush (346), Roger Hunt (285), Gordon Hodgson (241) and Billy Liddell (228), solidifying his status as a contemporary Liverpool legend.

    No red ever.

The way Klopp had hoped for Wataru Endo to be introduced to Anfield was most definitely not the case.

Shortly after Alexis Mac Allister was sent off by referee Thomas Bramall, Liverpool’s most recent acquisition emerged from the bench. Saying that decision was harsh would be seriously understating it.

The Reds will be perplexed as to how Mac Allister’s 50-50 challenge led to the early end of his afternoon after witnessing Chelsea escape with all 11 players on the field despite two incidents that could have easily led to red cards.

Even worse than the referee’s ridiculous decision is the fact that VAR did not step in to reverse it. For all you conspiracy theorists out there, Paul Tierney was in charge of VAR today.

VAR was used to make these decisions, and Liverpool was fortunate that it did not cost it the three points. But don’t be shocked if that decision is appealed; having Mac Allister out for the following game is bad enough.

    Anxiety about Alexander-Arnold.

The last thing Liverpool needs is for another key player to miss. Given that Curtis Jones is already injured and Mac Allister potentially facing  suspension.

Therefore, the sight of Trent Alexander-Arnold receiving treatment on the bench after being replaced won’t exactly give Reds fans hope ahead of the team’s trip to Newcastle next weekend.

Let’s hope it was only a preventative measure.

Dream next Liverpool transfers as “everything can happen” with Cheick Doucouré’s addition and the $27 million Klopp deal.

Dream next Liverpool transfers as "everything can happen" with Cheick Doucouré's addition and the $27 million Klopp deal.Wataru Endo has officially been acquired by Liverpool, but more deals are needed. Two areas still need to be addressed, as Jürgen Klopp has acknowledged.

In his press conference, Jürgen Klopp used a reasonable voice. Wataru Endo could actually play a significant role in the upcoming season, so the Liverpool manager didn’t want to downplay his acquisition, but he also didn’t want to rule out additional transfer activity.

While Klopp admitted he had already been surprised more than once this summer, he effectively dismissed the idea of additional outgoings and was very receptive to incoming business. In the final two weeks before the deadline, he said, “everything can happen,” with Liverpool continuing to “look.”.

That ought to be fairly obvious in many ways. After all, FSG had just recently proposed paying Moisés Caicedo $140 million (£110 million/€127 million). Although it was obviously a failure, there seemed to be an implied recognition of a critical area of need. It’s hard to imagine why that wasn’t the original plan if it could be adequately met for the better part of $120m less.

Liverpool hasn’t, however, ever just thrown money around for the sake of it. Endo is deserving of a great deal of respect, and Klopp seems genuinely willing to continue the season with the Japan captain at the position of starting number six. Any opportunity must be the right one.

But regardless of whether they fall short of the ideal standard, Liverpool must ultimately work to close the best deals possible during the remaining time in the window. There is obviously money available to spend, but more business is necessary to give Klopp a legitimate chance to compete.

Even though midfielders have been the only players transferred so far, that is still a position that needs improvement. In a perfect world, Liverpool would bring in an additional six players as partners as well as a rotational option for Endo.

Even though Liverpool undoubtedly took inspiration from the “inversions” at Manchester City and Arsenal, the strategy is actually quite different. Trent Alexander-Arnold is not Oleksandr Zinchenko or John Stones, so despite the fact that he might appear to form a double pivot with the number six on paper, in practice he is tucking into a role that is much more akin to the number eight or even number 10 in order to make use of his generational creative skills.

Playing two genuine defensive midfielders would be a viable option, especially if Liverpool’s defense continues to be a weakness in their game. Alexander-Arnold would have real freedom to play a role that was very loosely defined, drifting around in the spaces next to Dominik Szoboszlai or Alexis Mac Allister, with Endo playing alongside someone like Cheick Doucouré.

Dream next Liverpool transfers as "everything can happen" with Cheick Doucouré's addition and the $27 million Klopp deal.
The Evening Standard identified Doucouré as Liverpool’s top target in the midfield, and he does appear to be the best option among the rest. He could be developed under Klopp as the long-term Fabinho replacement while sharing the load with Endo for at least the next couple of years. He is already at a high Premier League standard and has plenty of room to improve.

That would essentially organize the midfield for Liverpool. An additional number eight would be ideal if I were really greedy, but that seems unlikely at this point, especially since the search for a new center-back should take priority.

Having spent the majority of his career playing in the defense, Endo has once more possibly lessened the urgency of the search. However, Liverpool needs to find a left-sided specialist who can take Andy Robertson’s place in some games immediately and who also has the potential to replace Virgil van Dijk in the future.

That is a very difficult request. However, Arthur Theate, a name that has only recently gained notoriety (via L’Équipe), checks a lot of the right boxes. At 23, he is another who Liverpool could develop while immediately adding depth.

Football Transfers estimates Theate’s value at $27 million (£21 million/€25 million) using its proprietary “expected transfer value” tool. Liverpool might anticipate Rennes to demand more given the state of the market. But any deal in that area would be a wise business move.

It’s important to remember that adding Theate and Doucouré to the roster would push Liverpool over the limit in terms of foreign players, which is an issue that cannot be entirely avoided. However, there is always the option of not registering someone, for instance Adrián, if the ideal homegrown solution does not emerge.

Anything can happen, as Klopp points out. But those two transactions would cap off a wholly satisfying transfer window for Liverpool, positioning the team for the present and the future.

Chelsea may have diverted Liverpool’s moves for Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia in defensive midfield, but the Blues could have given Jürgen Klopp’s side a hand in chasing down Crystal Palace’s Cheick Doucoure. The Eagles don’t want to lose too many key players this summer, but having signed Michael Olise to another lucrative deal following a turbulent negotiation process with Chelsea, they may be forced to sell Doucoure for a reasonable price to recoup cash.

Olise looked all but ready to join Chelsea after agreeing personal terms earlier this month and triggering the winger’s £35m release clause. However, Palace stepped in and re-signed Olise to a new four-year contract worth £100,000 a week, more than double the £45,000 a week salary he earned under his previous contract. The Eagles are said to be furious at the way the Blues have handled matters and are considering taking their rivals to court over an “illegal approach”. It is thought that the threat of legal action may have forced Chelsea to withdraw from the deal.

“It’s the best possible news we could have. I was worried – it’s always worrying when a club of Chelsea’s stature shows interest in a player and people will suggest that moving to them might be the best solution,” said manager Roy Hodgson .

Chelsea may have diverted Liverpool's moves for Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia in defensive midfield, but the Blues could have given Jürgen
“I always hoped it wouldn’t be like this and that Michael realizes that the future for him here at such a young age is very bright and that we can help him move to another level very quickly. “I am delighted for the club and have to congratulate Steve Parish and Dougie Freedman on the fantastic job they have done in convincing them that, even if there was pressure from outside, this is your place and this is where we think you will progress the way right and you will develop in the right way.’”

While they have managed to keep Olise, the same cannot be said for Doucoure, who tops Liverpool’s shortlist. Liverpool are reportedly preparing a bid for the 23-year-old and will have no problem meeting Palace’s £60m valuation of the player who showed the hand of him in their dazzling pursuit of Caicedo.

The Eagles understand Liverpool’s interest in the Mali international is genuine, but have yet to receive an official offer from the Merseyside side. The Crystal Palace is open to the sale of the Doucoure, but only at the right price.

Liverpool need a new defender in the center of the park following the exits of Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and James Milner this summer. The Reds recently brought in Wataru Endo from Stuttgart for £16m to fill the void, but are also looking for another defensive midfielder to add even more depth to the position.

Liverpool ‘won’t use money as excuse’ – despite influence of Chelsea and Saudi Arabian transfer

Liverpool suffer from 'new injury' as four midfielders could miss AFC Bournemouth fixture

Jurgen Klopp has insisted Liverpool will not use the money as an “excuse” in the transfer window, despite growing influence and cash flow from Chelsea and Saudi Arabia.

The big stories this week centered on Liverpool’s defeat to Chelsea in deals for Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, who have both opted to join the London club.

The Reds have responded by signing Wataru Endo, but this has only fueled the fire in many quarters when it comes to the club’s appeal, something Klopp has rejected.

Klopp often provides glowing answers to questions at his press conferences and Friday was no different after being asked if the club is having trouble signing players this summer.

“I’m not sure if it has anything to do with Liverpool, to be honest. More difficult to dress? No,” Klopp insisted.

“Everything is more difficult, everything. There are reasons, you all know them. You’ve probably written about this before, these stories aren’t what I have to say about them. “But it’s really difficult, there are a lot of things that have changed since last year.”

Alluding to Chelsea’s never-ending transfer cases, Klopp continued: “Some clubs do it differently and nobody understands 100 per cent how it works.”

“As a normal club it’s really difficult to follow them. We just watch what they do and that’s fine, not my problem. I don’t blame anyone for what it is.”

Klopp also cited Saudi Arabia’s growing power to throw “infinite sums of money” at players making life “more difficult”, but that played no part in convincing a target to move to Anfield.

Liverpool suffer from 'new injury' as four midfielders could miss AFC Bournemouth fixture
“Also, Saudi Arabia is not making it easy. Our window ends on August 31st [note: it’s September 1st] and their window is still open, so for players who aren’t happy, they will come back.

“It’s okay if there’s another league that’s growing, it’s football, that’s fine. We don’t have the right to say it’s not allowed, China has tried, the United States could still try. No problem.

“But infinite money creates problems, that’s how it is. We sit here and [think] ‘what can we do now’. It would be nice if someone could come up with a solution, some rules – I don’t know.

“Yes, it has become more difficult, but not to convince players to go to Liverpool,” he continued.

“One hundred percent, if you called a million players, they would come right away. We just have to make sure you pick the right one, our timing is different from others. “We can’t just spend and watch later, that’s the way things are.
    It is good.

“I’m here and I’m very happy with the transfer window right now, our transfer window.

“I know what happened last week, I know what football fans are like and I know they would rather bring in a £110m or £150m player, and your club can do it.

“This is quite nice, but in the end the pitch is the same size, the player doesn’t grow with the money he costs, it’s quite the opposite. “I’m really happy for the moment. We keep looking, we keep looking.

“We will do everything we can to make the best decisions for this club and we won’t use a second of money or anything as an excuse. We just do it with everything we have. That’s the idea. “We do it our way, we are here and we are ready to fight.”

Jurgen Klopp has quietly disclosed who Wataru Endo is replacing at Liverpool

Curtis Jones looks set to miss Liverpool's match against AFC Bournemouth. The midfielder suffered a sprained ankle in training earlier this week
Wataru Endo is set to be Liverpool’s third signing this summer and could play an important role in the squad

It is undeniable that this summer at Anfield has been marked by great upheavals.

After Roberto Firmino, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, James Milner and Naby Keita initially said goodbye on their own terms in late May, the same cannot be said for the purge in Saudi Arabia that led to Jordan’s shock Liverpool departure Henderson and Fabinho just a few weeks later.

As a result, Jurgen Klopp started the new Premier League season at Stamford Bridge with a side lacking Moises Caicedo or Romeo Lavia, and was instead forced to use summer signing Alexis Mac Allister in a deeper midfield role. .

But despite a brilliant start against the Londoners, the Reds were unable to keep their pressing high and soon found themselves at the mercy of Mauricio Pochettino’s side just after Axel Disasi equalized Luis’ Díaz opener.

However, now ahead of Anfield’s second leg this weekend against AFC Bournemouth, they have moved quickly to finalize a deal for VfB Stuttgart and Japanese midfielder Wataru Endo. ECHO understands the 30-year-old defensive midfielder will cost Liverpool around £16m, with the Bundesliga outfit allowing Endo to speak to Liverpool about a proposed move to Anfield.

After the botched chases of Caicedo and Lavia earlier this month, coupled with interim sporting director Jorg Schmadtke’s close ties to his home country, news of Endo’s arrival was initially met with understandable skepticism.

Curtis Jones looks set to miss Liverpool's match against AFC Bournemouth. The midfielder suffered a sprained ankle in training earlier this week
But a deeper look into the veteran midfielder’s background should familiarize KOptions with what exactly they will welcome at Anfield. It is clear that, after a summer full of surprises, Liverpool are looking for ways to replace the wealth of knowledge that was taken from them following the summer outings of Henderson, Milner and Fabinho.

Together they totaled more than 5,600 minutes of action in the Premier League last season. And while Henderson and Fabinho were two of Liverpool’s first-choice midfielders in their final season as Reds, Milner was limited to just seven Premier League starting positions. As the oldest statesman in the dressing room, the 37-year-old was taken off the bench 24 times last season, 17 of which came after the 70th minute.

Also in a menial and supportive role, Klopp was keen to offer Milner another year’s extension at the club in hopes of kick-starting his career at Anfield in his eighth season. But after the 37-year-old turned down an offer to sign for Brighton & Hove Albion in June, the Reds boss was quick to reveal his desire to fill the void left by his former number 7.

“The way we finished games, it was always James Milner coming in, that kind of thing, and he kind of finished the game for us super professionally,” Klopp said during last month’s pre-season tour of Singapore . “Eventually – in the last few weeks and months – he may have finished more games. We have players for this role, younger players, and that opens doors and that’s what we need. Yes, as a group we want to remedy that.”

And judging by Endo’s CV, Liverpool could have found their man.

Liverpool have reportedly made a surprise offer for Stuttgart midfielder Wataru Endō.

The Reds are said to have approached the Japan international looking for a new defensive midfielder.

Jurgen Klopp’s side fail to bring Moises Caicedo to Anfield. Despite Brighton accepting a £110m offer, Caicedo opted to join Chelsea. The London side also appear poised to sign Romeo Lavia, who Liverpool had also received an offer which was approved by Southampton.

Now Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that Liverpool have turned their attention to Endo, with sporting director Jog Schmadtke spearheading the transfer. 30-years-old Endo, has played for Stuttgart for the past four years and scored 15 goals in 133 appearances.

He also helped Japan reach the last 16 of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Romano wrote on Twitter: “Liverpool have made a formal offer to sign Japanese midfielder Wataru Endō on a permanent contract. Negotiations in progress with Stuttgard: the player wants the transfer because it is the greatest opportunity of his career. Surprising move by Liverpool playmaker Schmadtke.”

Normally, Liverpool's transfer business is smooth, since Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia chose Chelsea over Liverpool, the pressure is REALLY on Liverpool to resolve the "mess" and provide Klopp with a midfielder.
The decision by Moises Caicedo to join Chelsea rather than Liverpool was a setback.

Romeo Lavia, another midfield target, seems to be on a similar path.

Success in the transfer market has been one of the defining characteristics of Liverpool under John W Henry.

Liverpool has experienced more wins than losses since then after learning from early errors like Mario Balotelli.

Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Alisson were wise acquisitions that helped Jurgen Klopp assemble a squad capable of dominating every major competition.

However, after a disastrous week for Liverpool’s transfer managers, that carefully built reputation is in jeopardy of collapsing.

It would be extremely embarrassing if they lost out on their next target, Romeo Lavia, in the same way they lost Moises Caicedo to Chelsea.

Klopp is always eager to present a unified front at Anfield, but he is aware that whether or not his team mounts a title challenge this season may depend on whether or not they can find a top-tier holding midfielder to sign.

Normally sympathetic to Liverpool’s position, club legend Jamie Carragher hasn’t held back at seeing his team outperformed by Chelsea’s brash owner Todd Boehly.

He calls how things have been handled at Anfield “an absolute mess and a joke.”.

One might have hoped for a smoother transition after the midfielders Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and James Milner were all lost in a single strike.

Yes, the Argentine World Cup winner was forced into a defensive role in Chelsea’s opening match and wasn’t his usual self. However, Dominik Szoboszlai of Hungary also recently moved from Brighton and joined Alexis Mac Allister.

Liverpool are currently facing some challenges. People are aware of their desperation,’ Carragher continued.

Normally, Liverpool's transfer business is smooth, since Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia chose Chelsea over Liverpool, the pressure is REALLY on Liverpool to resolve the "mess" and provide Klopp with a midfielder.
The sequence of events is strange. Jude Bellingham was praised by Klopp in January, but Liverpool decided they couldn’t compete financially in the summer, and the player joined Real Madrid.

Despite this, they suddenly made a British record bid of £111 million for Caicedo at Brighton after pursuing Lavia from Southampton all summer without being able to match the £60 million asking price.

Caicedo had always intended to sign with Chelsea; the club’s director of international talent, Paul Winstanley, previously worked at Brighton and was instrumental in helping Caicedo land his first club in England.

It was a high-risk move that hasn’t yet paid off if Liverpool believed that their intervention would increase the Caicedo price and eliminate Chelsea’s interest in Lavia.

Although Liverpool finally agreed to Southampton’s terms regarding a transfer fee, word has it that Lavia would also prefer to join Chelsea, whose spending ambitions know no bounds.

The youngster might have been troubled by Liverpool suddenly turning their attention to Caicedo, though the London location angle could be one factor.

Whatever occurs after that, it’s not how Liverpool prefers to conduct business.

The Liverpool team’s employees will be highlighted in the background.

Michael Edwards, a renowned sporting director, left in 2022. Julian Ward, who took over for him later that year, made the announcement that he would retire at the conclusion of the 2022–23 campaign.

Normally, Liverpool's transfer business is smooth, since Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia chose Chelsea over Liverpool, the pressure is REALLY on Liverpool to resolve the "mess" and provide Klopp with a midfielder.
Billy Hogan, the Chief Executive of the club’s owners FSG, has been under a lot of pressure and responsibility as a result.

The early signings of Mac Allister and Szoboszlai in the window gave the impression that things would continue as before.

Then, Fabinho and Henderson left as a result of the Saudi intervention, leaving a huge gap at the midfield’s base. It hasn’t been filled yet, one week into the season.

Questions will be raised until it is, and it will be difficult to refute Carragher’s claim that the situation is a “mess.”.

'Desperate' Liverpool are willing to "try again" to sign the £111 million star that Klopp "is in love with."
Liverpool hope to sign Federico Valverde or Aurelien Tchouameni from Real Madrid this summer.

The Reds have made a brilliant start to the summer transfer window with new signings Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai from Brighton and RB Leipzig respectively.

However, the unexpected departures of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to Saudi Arabia mean Jurgen Klopp will now have to sign at least one more midfielder before the September 1 transfer deadline.

They have certainly tried but Jamie Carragher recently slammed them for ’embarrassing’ Liverpool for making a ‘joke’ over a transfer window as recent market failures have left them in ‘an absolute mess’.

Chelsea beat Liverpool to the signings of Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, but the latter has yet to be officially confirmed as the Reds’ offers for both players have been accepted. Caicedo has always wanted to join Chelsea, but it was Liverpool’s offer for the former Brighton midfielder that made Lavia feel like a “second choice”.

And with Lavia set to follow Caicedo to Chelsea, Spanish newspaper Nacional says Liverpool are now hoping Valverde or Tchouameni can boost their midfield.

Liverpool are now “desperate” to sign one of Real Madrid’s two midfielders, with Klopp heading up the Reds hierarchy to “reactivate interest” in the pair. Klopp is said to be ‘in love’ with Valverde as the German ‘tried to sign him’ before and the Reds boss now wants to ‘try again’ for the Uruguay international, who is believed to be worth around €130m (£111m). ) of the president of Real Florentino Perez.

Otherwise, Liverpool will turn their attention to Tchouameni – whom Klopp ‘tried to persuade’ to move to Anfield before joining Real from Monaco – although the France international has made it clear he is ‘not abandoning the team at La Liga”.
    Neil Jones

Neil Jones, who has covered Liverpool since 2009, discussed possible alternatives to Lavia in his column for Caught Offside.

Jones wrote on Wednesday: “Coming to the news of Caicedo was another blow to Liverpool as Romeo Lavia also joined Chelsea.” This will hurt the Reds even more in many ways. Not because he’s a better player – he certainly isn’t – but because it’s a deal Liverpool could and should have made.

“Lavia has been on his radar for months and had three offers turned down earlier this summer. Their reluctance to meet Southampton’s asking price, which has always been around £50million, cost them as much as their dramatic move to Caicedo last week.

“And what it also does is that Liverpool’s ‘search for value’ policy is on full display. They didn’t think Lavia was worth £50m, which is good. I actually agree. He is not.

'Desperate' Liverpool are willing to "try again" to sign the £111 million star that Klopp "is in love with."
“But ultimately they were willing to pay him because they needed a player and still couldn’t get him. If they turn their attention elsewhere, they only have two and a half weeks to get someone in, and everyone knows they have money to spend. How likely is it that they find value now? “And who is out there? We know some players Liverpool like: Khephren Thuram, Ryan Gravenberch, Manu Kone, Cheick Doucoure. There is Florentino Luis at Benfica who seems like an interesting option.

“I don’t think they would face Manchester United for Sofyan Amrabat, while Tyler Adams looks like he’s leaving for Bournemouth. Kalvin Phillips? João Palhinha? How about Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi or PSV’s Ibrahim Sangare?

“There are many names in play at the moment and there is a need to act quickly and decisively. Liverpool should not be in this position but they are. His next move, and his success, could dictate the rest. of his season. “In terms of departures, despite the rumours, I wouldn’t expect Curtis Jones to leave Liverpool this summer.

“They already have enough problems in midfield without one of their local players having to leave. Jones had a good end to last season and a good summer with England at the European Under-21 Championship. He appears as a player ready to step up in terms of influence and performance at Anfield. You will not sell it.

Both players preferred Chelsea to Liverpool, who also signed deals for the two midfielders, forcing the Reds to move on to other goals.

“United still maintain their interest. We’ve talked about their spending being done now simply because there are no major departures in the form of Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay. They can’t bring in any money to do other financial deals.

“Manchester United entered the market with three main targets: Andre Onana, Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund. They want to get back into the market, but it could prove difficult.

“But now it’s Liverpool who have started to show interest. It’s nothing new, Liverpool have a long-term interest in Amrabat, we’ve all seen how impressive he was for Morocco in the Cup.
    of the world.”

“It will be interesting to see where this leads.”

Sky Sports’ Jamie Carragher described Liverpool’s summer as “an absolute mess, a joke and embarrassing” after missing out on Caicedo and Lavia.

Asked what the double transfer move means with three weeks remaining at Liverpool, Carragher said: “In a fairly difficult situation, people know they are desperate.” “They made a bid for Lavia today for £60m, when four or five days ago they refused to pay £50m. It’s an absolute mess and a joke.”

“The main problem is that Liverpool have known they need reinforcements in midfield since August last season, 12 months ago. So not having things in order…

“The two players they bought had buyout clauses, there’s no negotiation, there’s nothing to worry about, you just have to respect the buyout clause. So Liverpool didn’t sign big deals and it was embarrassing. “That’s why I won’t criticize the owners – they were ready to pay £111m and break the transfer record. Start with Lavia, not pay a certain amount, then go to Caicedo and go again.” Lavia, it’s a real mess, a joke and it’s embarrassing.”

Carlos Baleba is a target for Liverpool, according to rumors.

If you can't get Moises Caicedo then maybe get the man Brighton want to sign to replace Moises Caicedo. Having just sold Moises Caicedo to Chelsea in a £115m deal that still has Liverpool fans gritting their teeth, Brighton have chosen 19-year-old Lille's Carlos Baleba as the man to replace their late defensive midfielder . For some Liverpool fans, this begs a seemingly simple question: if Liverpool can't have Caicedo, why don't they just go and sign Baleba, aka Brighton's supposed replacement for him, instead. Now, it seems the rumor mills agree. At least according to The Mail and a smattering of even less popular outlets today, that's precisely what Liverpool are at least considering, although it's worth pointing out upfront that Baleba is a 19-year-old with 22 total senior caps. If fans rightly thought Southampton's Roméo Lavia was unwilling to be a week-to-week regular for a club with silver lining ambitions, well, Baleba is far behind Lavia in his growth. However, if Liverpool were to sign a more experienced player for the starting role, there could be a case for spending £15m to sign the young up-and-comer, although this would only make sense if Stefan Bajcetic is seen as more than an eight. Baleba is not ready for a starting role at Liverpool at the moment. It's far from certain that he's ready for that in Brighton as well. However, it's easy to imagine a world in which he will be a regular starter for a top English club in two or three years' time.

Liverpool’s transfer option could be even better than Romeo Lavia’s after a $13m ‘price drop’

Liverpool's transfer option could be even better than Romeo Lavia's after a $13m 'price drop'.
Liverpool have been given a transfer boost in their search for a midfielder this summer after missing out on Romeo Lavia and Moisés Caicedo at Chelsea.

Jurgen Klopp is looking for the latest addition to his Liverpool midfield with sixth being the final piece of the puzzle, having already secured world champion Alexis Mac Allister and former RB Leipzig player Dominik Szoboszlai.

The club were considering moves for Moisés Caicedo and Roméo Lavia after submitting offers totaling more than $200m (£157m/€183m) in recent weeks. However, much to his dismay, both players have since opted for a move to Stamford Bridge, where new Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is looking to rebuild his squad following his summer appointment.

Liverpool will now have to look elsewhere to fill the void left in their squad by veterans Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, who have both opted to accept lucrative offers from the Saudi Pro League in recent months. And according to The Independent, Jürgen Klopp’s search has led to Crystal Palace ace Cheick Doucouré. Liverpool have been linked to the player in the past but are now looking to ramp up their interest in the Mali international.

Liverpool's transfer option could be even better than Romeo Lavia's after a $13m 'price drop'.
Klopp could benefit from a major boost. The BBC was among those to quote a price tag of $89m (£70m/€82m) earlier this summer, but the latest report suggests Liverpool could secure a deal for less than $76m ( £60m / €82m).
    70 million euros).

This is a big price drop. The player is believed to be interested in a move to Anfield this summer. However, the report goes on to say that Crystal Palace are reluctant to part ways with their midfield having already lost several key players, with Wilfried Zaha moving to Galatasaray and Michael Olise potentially moving to Chelsea.

Fulham’s João Palhinha and Nice’s Khéphren Thuram offer other options for Klopp, but Doucouré looks the most likely outcome heading into the final weeks of the transfer window.

Liverpool.com says: Doucouré has adapted well to the Premier League since joining from RC Lens in 2022. Liverpool have been without Caicedo and Lavia of late and given a glaring gap in midfield this deal has plenty of sense.

At the price quoted, Doucouré might even prove to be a better option than Lavia, if not Caicedo. Finally, he has more experience at the top level, having spent some time in France ahead of his season in the English top flight. The transfer fee might end up looking like a bargain as Liverpool look to continue this season and compete with the Premier League’s top clubs.

Liverpool back to finally sign £30million player - Report
Liverpool’s midfield rebuild got a good start this summer with the signings of Mac Allister in June and Szoboszlai in July.

However, the sales of captain Jordan Henderson and key defensive midfielder Fabinho have set us back further and Klopp needs to get a No.6 to strengthen the squad.

The Reds made a mighty bid to land Moises Caicedo but the Ecuadorian international opted to turn us down and join Chelsea instead.

Now even Romeo Lavia is heading for Stamford Bridge. The Blues can offer more cash and a chance to live in London but won’t feature in any European competitions this season. According to today’s version of The Mirror, after being snubbed by Caicedo and Lavia, Liverpool are set to return to third-best option DM Andre Trindade.

Liverpool have already been in contact to sign the Brazil international but Fluminense want to keep him until the end of the season in December.

The South American side recently qualified for the Copa Libertadores quarter-finals and will meet Paraguayan club Olimpia in the first leg next week (August 25).

The 22-year-old midfielder has made 39 appearances so far this season and has helped Fluminense keep 16 clean sheets. The Merseysiders can’t afford to waste any more time and will have to make a concrete offer to secure his signature.

Earlier this month, Mirror Sport revealed Andre would cost around £30million. Do you think Liverpool should pay the required fee to use his services?

Following Chelsea's £115 million transfer of Moises Caicedo over Liverpool, the Premier League is considering changing the rules.
Chelsea are using the tactic of offering longer contracts to reduce annual depreciation costs

The Premier League could be set to align its profit and sustainability accounting rules with those of UEFA following Chelsea’s £115m move for Liverpool transfer target Moises Caicedo.

The 21-year-old midfielder completed his move to Stamford Bridge on Monday after turning down a chance to join Liverpool. The Reds accepted a £111m offer from Brighton & Hove Albion on Friday. On Sunday, however, Chelsea returned with an improved offer of £115 after Caicedo expressed his desire to join them via Liverpool.

The acquisition of the Ecuador international and the likely signing of another Reds transfer target in Southampton’s Romeo Lavia for £50m plus add-ons will take Chelsea’s spending to over £900m since Todd Boehly and the Clearlake club Capital have recaptured.

May 2022. Chelsea’s spending, which has seen them break the UK transfer record twice this year, is not without risk, despite the high number of players they have sold this summer, as they are likely to be carefully monitored for potential infractions. of the Premier League profit and sustainability rules.

Chelsea had adopted the tactic of offering new signings seven-, eight- and nine-year contracts, the longest terms allowing them to amortize the cost of the transfer fee over a longer period of time. Guaranteed transfer fees, regardless of how they are paid, are amortized for accounting purposes over the life of a deal, the longer the deal lasts, the lower the annual cost on the balance sheet.

Following Chelsea's £115 million transfer of Moises Caicedo over Liverpool, the Premier League is considering changing the rules.
That practice was eradicated earlier this summer by UEFA, European football’s governing body, with clubs participating in European competitions now only allowed to write off transfer fees for up to five years, although the offer of contracts longer than this period will continue to be permitted.

But after finishing 12th last season following a poor season which saw them sack both Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter and end the season with Frank Lampard in charge, Chelsea are out of European competition this season which means the rules viability criteria do not apply. at least for them for now.

Premier League profit and sustainability rules apply to all member clubs and still allow amortization over periods longer than five years, although European clubs must be bound by the new five-year limit to be able to compete.

Chelsea have offered Caicedo an eight-year deal with an option for a ninth, meaning they could write off the £100m guarantee to £12.5m-a-year, while Liverpool would have him got to £20m a year.

This has given Chelsea a financial advantage, at least for now, due to their poor performance last season, although they will be forced to adjust their accounting practices to match those of UEFA if they qualify. for European competition next season, with retrospective measures for Caicedo a possibility.

According to the Daily Mail, the Premier League will align its transfer fee amortization accounting rules with those of UEFA by next summer in response to pressure from some clubs unhappy with Chelsea’s approach to the transfer market. transfers.

By introducing longer contracts and allowing transfer costs to be amortized over time, Chelsea have given themselves some leeway in the market for the time being, although they are likely to face restrictions significant spending in the coming seasons, compared to the gigantic spending of the last 12 months.

The gamble Boehly and Clearlake are making is based on the belief that the young talent now gathering will take Chelsea to the top and lead them back to Champions League riches, enabling the club to maximize revenue opportunities.

The proposals, says the Mail, will be discussed at a Premier League shareholders’ meeting later this season, where they are likely to receive backing from many member clubs.

Liverpool set ‘shortlist’ for transfer of six midfield players after Romeo Lavia failure

The Reds boss couldn't help but dig the Blues after Mauricio Pochettino revealed he was hoping for more signings this month Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp couldn't help but dig in at Chelsea after the two sides drew 1-1 in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. After the entertaining encounter in west London, Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino revealed he was waiting for new signings to complete the squad - despite the club's huge outlay over the past two transfer windows. "It's what every manager at Chelsea wants and usually gets it," Klopp said. The German also admitted there was 'no news' regarding Moises Caicedo's transfer target as the Brighton midfielder is also wanted by Chelsea and is now believed to be close to a move to the Blues. During the match itself, Klopp was happy with the result. "The start was pretty compelling," he said. "We really looked like we hadn't met in the parking lot!" Then we opened the door to Chelsea. We fought very hard, it was super intense for both teams. That's a point for Chelsea...good." “In the second half with the crowd, we really had to dig deep and fight hard. In the end we got a point and that's okay. I saw a lot of things I liked and some things I didn't like. We are right and we continue to work."
Liverpool have been chasing a midfield addition in the closing weeks of the transfer window, having recently seen moves hijacked by Chelsea from Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia.

Liverpool have placed Fulham star Joao Palhinha at the top of a list of six midfielders as they scramble for signings.

Jürgen Klopp is desperate for reinforcements in midfield before the end of the transfer window. The Reds had a deal with Brighton for Moises Caicedo but have seen the Ecuadorian complete a move to Chelsea.

An attack on Romeo Lavia looks set to go the same way as the Blues are close to signing the Southampton youngster for a fee of over £50m. That leaves Liverpool with few options as they look to secure a signing. However, Klopp has compiled an extensive list of potential recruits. According to MailOnline, six options are being studied.

Fulham star Joao Palhinha is reportedly the most favourite. The Portuguese shone with Marco Silva’s men last season following a move from Sporting Lisbon.

Liverpool may still be looking for ace who went better than Moisés Caicedo as FSG bend transfer rule
West Ham were linked with a move for him earlier this summer, but he competed for Southampton star James Ward-Prowse instead. Fulham have reportedly put a price tag of over £60m on Palhinha and whether Liverpool are willing to pay that fee remains to be seen.

Another one of their options is also expected to be expensive. Crystal Palace star Cheick Doucoure has been considered, but the Eagles are asking around £70m for the former Lens midfielder.

There are several other candidates who could potentially move to Anfield before the end of the transfer window, who had been under consideration previously. Kalvin Phillips has been admired by Klopp in the past and the Reds have been urged to re-examine a transfer for the Man City man. Sofyan Amrabat is also linked with a move from Fiorentina to Merseyside. Liverpool have their hands full to secure his services and bitter rivals Manchester United are also hot on their heels.

Liverpool transfer news: 'Offer made' for $33m star and Moisés Caicedo alternative 'identified'
The Reds are also neck and neck with United over the signing of Khephren Thuram. Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move to the Nice midfielder, although the Red Devils have reportedly been eyeing this in recent weeks with a close eye on Jean-Claire Todibo.

A final option could potentially be Brazilian prodigy Andre van Fluminese. The Reds are keen on a deal for the midfielder but his current employers don’t want to lose him this summer, instead wanting a deal in January.

Speaking about his team’s need for a new midfielder ahead of Chelsea, Klopp said: “It’s no surprise that we’re looking for that position. It’s clear and it would be great if we could do something, but for now we can do a lot of things.

“We can also play a double six or a double pivot and Stefan [Bajcetic] comes back. He played that position exceptionally well, so we have options, we have Curtis [Jones], we can adjust the system and we have options. But yeah, it would be absolutely amazing if we could.
