According to reports, Liverpool has made a significant transfer decision since they are now prepared to seek an ambitious purchase of Kylian Mbappe, the star player for Paris Saint-Germain, but only if Mohamed Salah departs.

However, journalist David Ornstein now suggests that could not be the case after all. In a Q&A session with The Athletic, Ornstein was questioned whether the future of the Egyptian superstar had received “any noise.” Liverpool supporters will find encouragement in his response.

The journalist answered, “No, other than I don’t think it’s set in stone he goes.”

“I’ve even heard some comments that he would want to stay and carry on competing in Europe at the top level. Of course, it’s a big decision for the player and the team.

Liverpool gave Salah motivation.

The Saudi interest that surfaced during the summer, which was naturally turned down, was in some respects a good thing.

Three former Liverpool players who successfully moved from Anfield to Saudi Arabia last summer could now face a tough road ahead.

Roberto Firmino, who decided to leave Manchester United at the end of his contract, joined Al Ahly on a free transfer at the beginning of July.

Jordan Henderson and Fabinho are set to join the Middle Eastern striker for £12m and £40m respectively later this month following surprise interest from Al Etihad and Al Etihad.
All three did their best to help Liverpool win in the first half.

While Henderson’s move to the Gulf region received some expected backlash, their decision to make a big-money move to Saudi Arabia was understandable.

Four months have passed since the transfer, but the situation for Firmino, Henderson and Fabinho has not been good.

According to reports, Al Ahly could move for Firmino as early as January as Saudi clubs can register a total of eight foreign players. The Brazilian scored a hat-trick on his debut against Al Hazem but has not found the net since.
His goal streak now stands at 12 games and some fans are turning on him and calling him out.

Al-Ahli are currently fourth in the Saudi Pro League, seven points behind leaders Al-Hilal.
But at least they are better than Fabinho and Henderson at Al-Ettifaq and Al-Ittihad.

The latter, currently sixth, sacked coach Nuno Espirito Santo on Tuesday after going five games without a win in the Saudi Pro League.
The Portuguese was instrumental in Fabinho’s move to Al Ittihad, with the former Wolves and Tottenham Hotspur boss first bringing him to Europe when he signed him from Rio Ave in 2012.

Fabinho has missed Al Ittihad’s last six games in all competitions, meaning it was an inevitable blow for the midfielder to see the manager who brought him to the club sacked just months later.

With former Liverpool captain Henderson joining Al Etifaq to reunite with Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard, that could be a warning sign in itself. His new side are currently seventh in the table and have won just one of their last five league games.

Furthermore, their campaign will not go according to plan after being knocked out of the King’s Cup. Having seen the second-tier Saudi Arabian club sack Robbie Fowler last month despite an unbeaten start to the season, one wonders how secure Gerrard’s position will be.

If he leaves soon, Henderson will be in the same boat as Fabinho and no longer playing under the manager who fought so hard to sign him.

Add to that the very miserable visitors Al-Ettifaq, who Henderson has yet to play against in front of a crowd of over 15,000.
It’s a far cry from his days at Anfield.
Most players have realized that this is the only way to keep Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool behind.
But Firmino, Henderson and Fabinho could learn this the hard way.

The Merseysiders are assessing the market for potential right-backs who would fit into Jurgen Klopp’s system and also fit into other defensive roles.

Rensch is believed to be a target for the club’s recruitment team, with Premier League title rivals Arsenal also keeping a close eye on him.

The defender is Ajax’s first-choice right-back and, despite being just 20 years old, has made 101 first-team appearances for the Dutch powerhouse.

He has registered an assist in nine games in all competitions this season, but has missed the last three games through injury.

Rensch only played as a right-back in the 2023/24 season, but his impressive versatility means he can also play as a centre-back, defensive midfielder or left-back.
He also experienced European football at the Johan Cruyff Arena, making a total of 19 appearances in the Champions League and Europa League.

The right-back, who is under contract with Ajax until June 2025, played his first and only senior match with the Netherlands in September 2021.
Ajax are bottom of the Eredivisie with just one win in eight games this season.
