Liverpool transfers news while the Reds concentrate on their front line. A ‘new Sadio Mané’ has been discovered, and another winger is reasonably priced.

Notwithstanding the haste to write Liverpool off, the team is definitely still in the running for more hardware this season. However, there’s a claim that if Jürgen Klopp’s team is going to bid its boss a farewell, it will be despite the result rather than because of it.

Thanks to yesterday’s victory over Spurs, Newcastle now has the same amount of league goals (apart from own goals) as Liverpool, with a shout-out to Andrew Beasley. The Reds did, however, take 179 more shots than they did.

Whoever takes over for Klopp would undoubtedly want to remedy this wastefulness. Perhaps only time will tell if this is a human problem, tactical difficulty, or just a case of poor luck, but it has undoubtedly drawn attention from the front lines.

At least one more recruit may be required there already, as Mohamed Salah—who is just over 30—is expected to draw greater interest from Saudi Arabia come summertime. As it happens, rumours are currently circulating that Liverpool is looking to sign a new winger. Salah is the one who requires a medium-term successor, but one target has also made comparisons to former forward Sadio Mané.

If Rúben Amorim takes over as manager, there is another player who could be a transfer target. This player can play on either side of the front three. This is Liverpool.com’s assessment of the transfer rumours that have been circulating about the Reds lately.

    Marcus Edwards, [Sporting]

Liverpool transfers news while the Reds concentrate on their front line.

Linkages between Sporting players and Liverpool have exploded, even though Amorim has really removed himself from any connection to Klopp’s position. Recently, the manager emphasised that he was still in the middle of his “cycle” with the Lisbon team.

To be fair, there have been linked to Sporting players Gonçalo Inácio and Ousmane Diomande even before the rumours about Amorim, so it’s feasible that Liverpool will still be looking to sign talented players from Sporting even with the new manager in place. After all, the players are sure to draw lustful looks as they are about to win a second league championship in four years.

Marcus Edwards is at the front lines, according to the most recent rumour. The Englishman, who came from the Spurs system, has been in Portugal since 2019 and will join Sporting from Vitória de Guimarães in 2022.

The 25-year-old, who is skilled on either flank, has six goals and eight assists this season across all competitions. And according to Football Insider, Liverpool might have an offer accepted if it submitted a $37 million (£30 million/€35 million) deal.

According to Liverpool.com, Edwards’ goal involvements aren’t very noteworthy, but the projected assists paint a different picture. Although his teammates’ finishing has occasionally let him down, the winger is averaging 0.41 xA per 90 minutes, which is only a little bit more than Salah’s infamously inventive output.

Naturally, the finishing of the Liverpool attack has been criticised recently, so adding another creator might cause some controversy. However, the listed pricing in the current game is rather affordable.

    Gustavo Nunes [Grêmio]

    Gustavo Nunes

Liverpool may search farther afield in order to find a new winger, possibly looking to the South American market. However, it’s not the only team that thinks highly of Grêmio forward Gustavo Nunes.

Fichajes claims that Nunes is attracting the attention of all three Premier League contenders. Manchester City is in the lead, helped along by the resources of the City Football Group, but Arsenal and Liverpool are also expressing interest.

The source notes that Liverpool is still searching for a player similar to Mané, and that Nunes might be a good match for the position, even though Salah will eventually need to be replaced. He is thought to be a potential “rising star.”

According to Liverpool.com Getting in before prices really skyrocket is one of the classic advantages of shopping in South American markets. Nunes is unlikely to come cheaply if Liverpool, Manchester City, and Arsenal are truly the only teams investigating him.

Given that Grêmio is one of the most prestigious teams in Brazil, that may have been the case anyway. Maybe this could be one approach for FSG to explore a somewhat uncharted market without taking on as much risk, however

Mauricio Pochettino is now very keen to sign a £52m striker this week, having previously coached him
Reports from France say Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is now very keen on the signing of Sporting Lisbon winger Marcus Edwards.

According to Foot Mercato, the Blues have the option of activating his £52m release clause if they decide they want him this summer.

Edwards is one of many names linked to becoming Chelsea’s latest signing in the transfer window.

Fabrizio Romano has already said that the club’s next induction will be the most shocking to date.

That will certainly take some effort, after they already shattered their transfer record earlier this summer by bringing in Moises Caicedo. The coach has hinted regularly in recent weeks that he hopes to add an attacking profile to his ranks. This is likely due to the injury Christopher Nkunku suffered at the end of pre-season.

One candidate for this role is Edwards, who has shined in Portugal since he left Tottenham as a youngster.

He had previously been coached by Pochettino in north London, and the manager was full of praise for his work whilst there.

The Argentine even made a comparison with Lionel Messi when describing him. It remains to be seen if the Englishman is the one Chelsea will choose as they strengthen their ranks.

Yesterday, the Blues claimed to have a shortlist of up to ten players which they are currently considering to fill the void they see.

Other names linked include Barcelona’s Ansu Fati, Arsenal star Emile Smith Rowe and Manchester United outcast Jadon Sancho.

Chelsea are set to confirm two transfers ahead of their next Premier League clash against Luton Town on Friday night. The Blues have already spent over £300m this summer, taking their total signing spend to over £900m in the past 12 months.

The Blues have already signed eight signings, including several young players, and Mauricio Pochettino are still waiting for at least a few more signings before the window closes, football.london reveal. Chelsea have picked up just one point from their opening two Premier League games but are hoping for drastic improvements from last season.

Several departures are still expected in the final stages of the transfer window, including Romelu Lukaku and Callum Hudson-Odoi, who are looking to leave Stamford Bridge on permanent contracts. The future of Trevoh Chalobah and Conor Gallagher remains uncertain ahead of the final nine days of the summer transfer window.

Chelsea are now expecting to sign goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic from the New England Revolution. The Blues reportedly agreed a deal with the MLS club on Monday, reportedly worth £12.5m plus a further £1.5m in surcharges.

Petrovic will fly to England in the coming days to finalize his move to Chelsea. A medical is scheduled ahead of the Blues’ game against Luton Town on Friday. The 23-year-old keeper won’t be the only confirmed signing this week as Deivid Washington has already passed a medical and an announcement should be made “soon” according to Fabrizio Romano. The West London club are looking to add at least one more attacking option to their ranks before the transfer window closes. Pochettino wants a right winger who can also operate as number 10 through the centre, football.london understands this.

Mohammed Kudus and Rayan Cherki remain in Blues care, but other targets are under surveillance. A deal to sign Michael Olise from Crystal Palace collapsed last week.

According to Simon Phillips, the Blues have offered a deal to sign the promising 24-year-old as they look to further strengthen their attacking abilities for this season.

Mauricio Pochettino has made no secret of having signed a new recruit for this position this summer.

This may be due to the injury picked up towards the end of the pre-season by Christopher Nkunku, who was the most expensive signing in the window until then.

He’s also been very impressive which has made it even more difficult for the Blues who expect him to be out for the rest of 2023. They have tried to fill this gap before, including trying to sign Michael Olise from Crystal Palace.

    Pochettino compared Edwards to Messi

However, the Frenchman ended up signing a new contract to stay at Selhurst Park for the foreseeable future.

In the club’s attempts to return to the drawing board, Edwards has now been claimed to be one of the names being considered.

Pochettino already has experience with the Englishman as he is a former Tottenham academy product.

He said: “The qualities – it’s just his looks, his body and the way he plays – are a bit reminiscent of Messi’s debut.” “He (Edwards) is a very good candidate and potentially he can become a top player, but we have to be patient and tell him he’s got a lot of talent, enough talent to be a top player, a great player.” very important to know how he builds his future. And it’s our responsibility to tell him.

It will be interesting to see if Chelsea make further progress in this window of opportunity.

To sign the “untouchable” Palace star, according to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea must make a “crazy bid”

    Eberechi Eze,
Chelsea continues to look for at least one additional attacker despite having already spent a significant amount of money on the transfer market this summer.

The boys in blue now have targets like Lyon’s Bradley Barcola after failing in their pursuit of Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise.

Barcola, 20, is expected to reject a move to Stamford Bridge in favor of one to Paris Saint-Germain (90min), leaving Chelsea with few options and little time left in the transfer window.

Eberechi Eze, a teammate of Olise, is a player to keep an eye on, though, according to a recent article by Chelsea journalist Simon Phillips.

Phillips claimed that Eze was also involved in discussions about Olise’s unsuccessful transfer in his most recent Substack column.

Fabrizio Romano, a renowned transfer expert and columnist for CaughtOffside, has revealed that only a “crazy, crazy bid” from Chelsea—or any other club—would be taken into consideration when it comes to the possibility of selling the “untouchable” Eze.

According to Romano’s exclusive Substack column, “At the moment, I am not aware of any Chelsea contact for Eze.”.

“Only Manchester City gave him consideration last week, but the treble winners never sent a bid or initiated a negotiation because Hodgson and Crystal Palace view him as untouchable.

“Much more than the reported £60-65 million fee would be required in order for a bid to even be considered. The Eagles’ position is crystal clear: “Eze stays!”.

Eze, who has two more years left on his contract at Selhurst Park, has directly assisted in 26 goals over the course of 95 games across all competitions during his three years there.
