Expected lineup for Liverpool vs. Arsenal: amid Arne Slot Diogo Jota's decision

Arne Slot may opt to use his preferred formation when Liverpool plays Arsenal in Philadelphia on Wednesday, given he may now use Diogo Jota as his striker.

In the first friendly of the Reds’ US tour, Slot deployed two false nines to arrange his team in an unusual 4-4-2 configuration.

But the head coach stated, “during the season you will see us play with a real striker, but at this moment we have no one available,” following the 1-0 victory against Real Betis.

Given that Jota has not yet returned for that friendly, Jayden Danns is injured, Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo are still on vacation following their international duty, and Slot acknowledged “that [was] maybe out of necessity.”

On Wednesday night, Liverpool will play Arsenal, therefore the Dutchman may opt to deploy the 4-3-3 formation that he is known to prefer.

Along with the back four of Conor Bradley, Jarell Quansah, Sepp van den Berg, and Kostas Tsimikas, Caoimhin Kelleher is probably going to hold onto his spot.

Expected lineup for Liverpool vs. Arsenal: amid Arne Slot Diogo Jota's decision

The most sought-after Wataru Endo has been practicing as the starting number six, and following his performance up front against Betis, Dominik Szoboszlai is anticipated to move into midfield.

Curtis Jones’s health will determine who plays in midfield with those two players, but Harvey Elliott is a more likely starter.

And with Mo Salah and Fabio Carvalho on either wing during training, Slot should use Jota as his focal point in attack if the medical team approves.

Against Betis, Slot rested most of his starters for just over an hour; he’ll probably do the same this time around.

Thus, players like Tyler Morton, Ben Doak, Trey Nyoni, Stefan Bajcetic, and Jones ought to be brought off the bench.

Despite the likelihood, Morton took Endo’s position after a challenging first half at the weekend. Slot may decide to start the young player instead.

Ryan Gravenberch and Ibrahima Konate both made a full recovery on Tuesday, so it’s possible that they’ll play for the team, though their playing time will be restricted.

Liverpool’s anticipated starting lineup against Arsenal is as follows: Kelleher; Bradley, Quansah, Van den Berg, Tsimikas; Endo, Elliott, Szoboszlai; Salah, Carvalho, Jota

Liverpool is getting ready to spend €65 million for a long term Mohamed Salah replacement

    Takefusa Kubo

Liverpool will not lose Mohamed Salah this summer, but the team is still preparing for life without him.

The Egyptian’s future at the team is still unknown as he approaches the penultimate year of his contract at Anfield and has been linked to moves away from the team during that time.

Under previous boss Jurgen Klopp, the right-winger has contributed to the Reds’ victories in both the Premier League and the Champions League.

Given the uncertainty surrounding his long-term future at Liverpool, the Reds are planning to sign a replacement.

The Japanese newspaper Sports Nippon claims that Liverpool may be considering Real Sociedad’s Takefusa Kubo, a right winger.

Kubo has been connected to a move to Liverpool since January.

Despite rumours that he would be Jurgen Klopp’s last addition to the Reds, the Japanese international continued to play well for the La Liga outfit.

Since joining Real Sociedad in 2022 from Real Madrid, Kubo has demonstrated enormous potential.

At the age of 23, he has already made a name for himself as one of La Liga’s best players.

Liverpool is pursuing the Japanese international and intends to pay a transfer fee of approximately €65 million for him.

They are also willing to give the 23-year-old £240,000 a week in salary. It is evident that the Reds are getting ready to play without Salah, who may depart the team in the summer of 2019.

Mo Salah will be hard for Liverpool to replace

    Takefusa Kubo

Similar to Salah, Kubo is a left-footed right-winger who enjoys cutting inside to create chances and score goals.

Kubo has shown promise in La Liga, but he will need to increase his goal total to take Salah’s place.

Salah’s twenty-four goals for the Reds dwarf the seven goals the Sociedad winger scored in the previous campaign.

Huge Mikel Arteta Arsenal prediction by Luis Enrique in the Man City and Liverpool title race

    Luis Enrique

The competition for the Premier League title is intensifying, as Arsenal, Manchester City, and Liverpool compete for a coveted trophy.

The Premier League winner this season has been determined by Luis Enrique. Arsenal is presently dominating the title fight, but only by goal differential. Last season, they lost first place to Manchester City in the final weeks of the competition.

At the beginning of March, the Gunners outperformed Liverpool by defeating Brentford 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium. The defending champions then held Jurgen Klopp’s team to a draw at the Etihad Stadium that same weekend.

The race for the crown is far from finished, with some highly anticipated games remaining. After the international break, Arsenal will square off against Manchester City, followed by matches against Tottenham in April and Manchester United in May.

Before the season ends, Liverpool needs to put themselves to the test against the Red Devils and Lilywhites. Even though Pep Guardiola’s team has been generally favoured to win the Champions League, one could argue that they have a somewhat more favourable run-in.

    Luis Enrique

Enrique returned to Twitch during the international break to respond to queries from fans. “I would like Mikel to win the English premier league this season,” the Paris Saint-Germain manager responded when asked who he would pick.

And if it’s not him, Pep (Guardiola) would be my choice. Otherwise, Aston Villa under Unai Emery or Liverpool. However, I believe that City will prevail.”

In the wake of this month’s Champions League draw, Enrique declared that the Parisians were “lucky” to have avoided Manchester City and Arsenal. PSG’s quarterfinal matchup with Barcelona was drawn, and should the French powerhouses advance to the semifinals, they will take on Borussia Dortmund or Atletico Madrid.

“We were lucky because we’re returning to Spain and me to Barcelona, the city where I spent the majority of my sporting career,” Enrique added. “We anticipated facing a very talented squad with exceptional individual players in the competition.

“The sketch consists of two components. We are in the section of the draw where, together with Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, and Borussia Dortmund, there is a chance for all four of us to advance to the championship game. However, we will need to prove [on the pitch] that we have what it takes to get to the final.

“The favourites, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, and Arsenal, are in the other half of the draw. It’s most likely the more challenging of the two sections.”

“I am aware,” says Pep Guardiola, expressing his shock at Liverpool and Arsenal’s title challenge following Man City’s victory.

"I know," says Pep Guardiola, expressing his shock at Liverpool and Arsenal's title challenge following Man City's victory.

Man City defeated Everton 2-0, but they are now two points behind Liverpool.

Liverpool will not be intimidated by Manchester City’s return to full strength in Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne, according to Pep Guardiola.

Haaland scored 52 goals in all competitions for City last season, and the two had a lethal relationship. But Haaland has only recently recovered from an ankle ailment, and De Bruyne missed four months of this year due to a hamstring issue.

In the team’s 2-0 victory over Everton on Saturday at Etihad Stadium, De Bruyne set Haaland free to score his second goal. After a 3-1 victory over Burnley, Liverpool took back the top spot in the Premier League table, temporarily pushing City to the top of the standings.

From this point until the campaign’s conclusion, a razor-thin title fight is expected to take place. Despite having a game in hand, City and Arsenal, who destroyed West Ham 6-0, remain two points behind the Reds.

The return of Guardiola’s main tormentors gives the current champions a significant boost. Still, the Etihad manager downplayed the likelihood that City will now easily win a fourth title in a row.

He said, “I don’t care,” to talkSPORT. How frightening it is for them is irrelevant to me. since I am aware that some of my coworkers are completely fearless.

“Yes, we can play well, but even with them, we are stronger. However, you can win games with the help of these players.

“The first goal is not easy at all, right foot, first contact, and that’s why Erling is – in the box – he’s the best.”

On Sunday, March 9, Liverpool welcomes City to Anfield. When the two faced off at the Etihad in November, they ended in a 1-1 stalemate.

"I have to admit," Chris Sutton says, referring to the Liverpool player who has disproved him thus far this season.

Chris Sutton, who had previously questioned if the 32-year-old was past his prime, has now acknowledged that he has been proven utterly wrong by a Liverpool player this season.

This season, Jurgen Klopp’s team is still having difficulty on all four fronts, and Virgil Van Dijk has been a major factor in the Reds’ strong play.

After Jordan Henderson left for Saudi Arabia in the summer, the Dutchman was given the armband, and the centre defender has since excelled.

Liverpool has given up the fewest goals in the Premier League so far this year (18), and Sutton acknowledges that his misgivings about the Netherlands international were unfounded.

The former Celtic striker commented on BBC Football Daily, “I have to admit, I wondered whether he could get back to his imperious best as a defender after the injury” (via Rousing The Kop). I used to believe he was the world’s best defender. I simply assumed that he might have lost a garden or something. Perhaps he didn’t feel like the same player and his confidence had taken a slight knock.

Naturally, van Dijk’s severe knee injury from a few years ago required some time to heal, but he is now showing why so many people consider him to be the best defender in the world.

It’s no accident that Klopp’s team is playing at its peak right now—our No. 4 is also playing at his best—because of his intimidating presence in the backline, which intimidates forwards.

This term, he’s setting an excellent example and would be thrilled to win some hardware in his capacity as Liverpool captain.

Liverpool clearly has an advantage over Man City and Arsenal as things fall apart for Pep Guardiola

After four Premier League games without a victory, Man City and Pep Guardiola are in unfamiliar circumstances, and Jürgen Klopp

After four Premier League games without a victory, Man City and Pep Guardiola are in unfamiliar circumstances, and Jürgen Klopp needs a boost to get back into the title chase.

Just six months after the ups and downs of the previous campaign, Liverpool’s future appears bright. The Reds are presently two points behind Arsenal in first place in the Premier League standings.

Furthermore, Liverpool has widened their lead over longtime rival Manchester City by four points as Pep Guardiola’s team experiences a mini-crisis. With its lone league loss of the season being against Tottenham towards the end of September, Liverpool is currently unbeaten in its last eight league games after defeating Sheffield United 2-0 at Bramall Lane.

Joël Matip’s injury, which could keep the Cameroonian out for the rest of the season, is the only drawback. The defender may never play for the team again because of the ACL he tore during the 4-3 victory over Fulham. His contract expires at the end of the current campaign.

This weekend, Liverpool will be travelling south to play Crystal Palace and former manager Roy Hodgson. Although Liverpool and this season’s match ended in a draw, Jürgen Klopp will be hoping for a different result. These are two articles from Liverpool.com that you should read today.

Pep Guardiola and Man City are in unfamiliar terrain.

Up to this point in time, the terms Man City and crisis have never been mentioned in the same phrase during the Pep Guardiola era. In their last four Premier League games, Guardiola’s team is without a win. In most cases, this wouldn’t be a problem for teams in the future; hiccups are inevitable in every given league season.

But given how quickly City has progressed over the past five years, this is a significant obstacle for Guardiola’s team to clear. They are already six points behind Arsenal, and Guardiola’s jabs at commentators seem to indicate that the coach may be starting to show signs of weakness. Click here to read more from James Martin.

Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool advantage is proven by Arsenal and Man City.

things fall apart for Pep Guardiola

In the Premier League this past week, three goals have been allowed in a single match by Arsenal and Man City. Midweek, Arsenal narrowly defeated Luton Town 4-3 on the road, and last Saturday, City and Tottenham tied 3-3.

Liverpool gave up three goals against Fulham the previous Saturday as well, but Jürgen Klopp has an advantage thanks to Alisson, the Brazilian custodian. Alisson is the best shot-stopper in the Premier League, but he was injured during the match against Fulham.

Alisson has faced 589 shots on goal in total, worth around 170.7 anticipated goals, yet he has only given up 150 goals (not including own goals). Alisson has essentially been 20 goals superior to the typical goalie, and Klopp needs to swiftly reclaim this edge.

Liverpool ready to make tremendous move for transfer of £45m midfielder

Liverpool ready to make tremendous move for transfer of £45m midfielder

According to reports, Liverpool is going to put up a big fight to sign Nice midfield player Khephren Thuram, in a deal that might end up costing up to £45 million.

In an attempt to make multiple midfield changes, the Reds linked themselves with the Frenchman multiple times during the summer transfer window. However, a deal never materialised, as they signed Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo, and Ryan Gravenberch to replace departing stars like Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Nevertheless, Thuram is already being linked to Liverpool once more as Tutto Juve designates the Merseyside giants as significant participants in this trade drama.

They speculate that LFC might attempt to buy the 22-year-old for about £45 million. It will be intriguing to watch if they decide to prioritise adding yet another midfield player for January.

Thuram’s pursuers are Juventus and Inter Milan, but according to the source, Liverpool is now in the lead in the hunt for his signature.

Thuram appears to have a bright future as a player, so it will be interesting to see where he chooses to go for his next move. It would be great to see him play in the Premier League soon, though.

  • The sole “Plan B” transfer for Arsenal is Aurélien Tchouaméni, therefore Liverpool should use Plan A instead.

The sole “Plan B” transfer for Arsenal is Aurélien Tchouaméni, therefore Liverpool should use Plan A instead.

    Aurélien Tchouaméni

Arsenal are interested in a move for former Liverpool target Aurelien TChouameni. But maybe Mikel Arteta presented a much better version.

There are those who believe that Aurelien Tchouameni has cost Liverpool a place in the Champions League this season or at least the club’s obsession with the French midfielder meant they didn’t qualify. Liverpool’s midfield policy in the summer of 2022 basically boils down to Chumeni or nothing.

The Monaco player chose Real Madrid and Jurgen Klopp continued his previous set, but the club were rocked by Arthur Melo’s deadline day loan.

The less said about this step, the better.
But while Arthur was humiliated by Liverpool, it was the midfielders who were the most disappointed as it became clear they could no longer follow Klopp’s game plan.
The leader this autumn was undoubtedly Fabinho.

Touted as one of the best in the world just months before the start of the 2022/2023 season, he has been off the pace after a string of embarrassing results for Liverpool.

He’s clearly had his issues and Klopp has sparked a huge revival, bringing Trent Alexander-Arnold’s energy into central areas to better protect Fabinho.

But it was hard to shake the feeling that TChouameni or at least Plan B, would have solved many of the problems.

    Aurélien Tchouaméni

In retrospect, it was a mistake for the club to put all their eggs in TChouameni’s basket.
That was a lesson learned this summer as Liverpool moved quickly to rebuild a highly effective midfield in Mason Mount.

That said, no one has yet signed on to play TChuameni. Klopp has brought in Wataru Endo, but there are early signs he will not be a regular starter, with Alexis McAllister currently in the midfield spot.

There is every reason to believe that Mac Allister’s experience will remain.
However, there is a possibility that Klopp may finally be in the market to find a specialist of his own.

TChouameni himself has continued to feature on the transfer radar since his debut season at Real Madrid last summer, but he hasn’t always been first choice there. He assumed the role of designated starter this season.

Ironically, Calciomercato didn’t stop and Arsenal are now trying to bring him back to the Premier League. Ironically, what TChouameni is to Liverpool is to Arthur: Plan B.

Admittedly, it’s a somewhat far-fetched plan, but the report claims that Mikel Arteta will try to reach a deal with Real Madrid if it doesn’t happen.

Step out into the land of Martin Zubimendi
Although little known to the global public, Zubimendi has been one of La Liga’s underrated stars in recent seasons.

Xavi, 24, is heavily favored as Sergio Busquets’ successor and has remained loyal to Real Sociedad so far, but is unlikely to lose interest from major suitors.

If Liverpool are still looking for a specialist defensive midfielder, they should follow Arsenal’s lead and pursue Zubimendi before chasing a long-range shot for Czowameni. Klopp will need to bring in elite personnel if he is to pry him away from the Basque club.

According to FBref, Fabinho is one of the 10 players most similar to Zubimendi last year.
Interestingly, former Manchester City midfielder Fernando is also included in the list.
Both comparisons show players with no indication of their primary responsibilities.
Can shine both in defense and forward.

Xavi is in a better position than most to recognize a worthy successor to Busquets.
Furthermore, Basque international Arteta follows Zubimendi closely and likes him so much that he will be Arsenal’s priority over TChouameni.

With these great suggestions in mind, Klopp should ditch the TChuameni idea for good and go for Zubimendi.
Liverpool’s vision 2.0 may no longer include Fabinho, but if it does, Arsenal’s Plan A could be in sight.

Chelsea move for £50million Arsenal player now 'one to watch' at Stamford Bridge
Chelsea’s switch to the Arsenal star is now ‘a must’ at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea transfer of Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun is now “a must” at Stamford Bridge, journalist Paul Brown has told GIVEMESPORT.

The young striker wants to be reassured at the Emirates Stadium but could be forced to leave the club.

Xabi Alonso may have hinted at Liverpool alternative if they unable to sign Levi Colwill https://footballtopstar.com/xabi-alonso-may-have-hinted-at-liverpool-alternative-if-they-unable-to-sign-levi-colwill/
With Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah as centre-forward options for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side, Balogun will struggle to play regularly for the Gunners next season.

According to Sky Sports, despite having plenty of cover up front, Arsenal value Balogun at around £50m, and are attracting interest from the Premier League.

According to Football Transfers, Chelsea have opened talks with Balogun’s agent ahead of a possible move to Stamford Bridge during the summer transfer window.

The Blues have focused their recruiting efforts on attracting young talent from around the world and Balogun certainly fits that profile.

With Chelsea having allowed Havertz and Jorginho to move to London, the west London club may be hoping their positive talks for the two players can help them in their search for Balogun.

Balogun will no doubt want to play throughout the first team following an impressive loan season at Reims. The American forward scored 21 league goals in 34 appearances for the French club last season, according to FBref.

What did Brown say about Balogun?
Brown has hinted that Chelsea’s potential pursuit of Balogun could be “someone to watch” in the coming weeks.

Chelsea move for £50million Arsenal player now 'one to watch' at Stamford Bridge
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, he said: “They have already signed a player in Nicolas Jackson, who I think requires a lot to perform and does so on a regular basis.

“Would Chelsea be able to spend a large chunk of money again on a player who may not be their first choice every week? “It really looks like a false economy for Chelsea and I’m not sure they have the money to sign two forwards who they don’t necessarily see as first choice.

“So from that point of view it seems a bit strange. But I don’t think Chelsea would be interested in Balogun if he hadn’t been encouraged in some way. So I think this is one to watch next time.” week or so.”

Who else are Chelsea targeting up front?
As Brown has pointed out, former Villarreal striker Jackson has been brought to Stamford Bridge, but he is still extremely young and not a natural number nine.

Chelsea have now been shortlisted for the striker spot under Mauricio Pochettino, according to the Evening Standard.

The report claims that Elye Wahi and Dusan Vlahovic are the two players the Blues first came into contact with, while Rasmus Holjund and Victor Osimhenc are also admired.

It seems that despite signing Jackson in the summer, Chelsea are still on the hunt for a new striker.

Even though Jackson has huge potential, the club could consider finding a striker who can make an instant impression in West London.

Arsenal said they are facing £120m Chelsea transfer hijacking after board makes key decision
Arsenal transfer news: Gunners face potential of another hijacked transfer from rivals Chelsea in their move to Declan Rice this summer

Arsenal have been told they will face another potential transfer hijacking this summer, similar to the one suffered by Mykhailo Mudryk in January. The Gunners oversaw a replacement of the Ukrainian international and eventually made offers to Shakhtar Donetsk to try and secure a move.

The north London outfit had a figure in mind when it came to hitting a maximum bid, but were ultimately swept away by rivals Chelsea. In a shocking turn of events, the Blues made an £88m offer which was accepted and saw the young winger move to Stamford Bridge.

“I am very proud of the players we have. We always want to try to improve the squad,” Mikel Arteta said after missing out on the transfer target in January. “The club are the first to try to improve the players we have. “Discipline and be consistent in pursuing our goals. We can make players better – that’s what we need to focus on.”

This discipline saw the team miss a few goals, but they also made decisions that saw them return to their competitive best last season. The same mindset should play a role this summer as the Gunners look to close the gap on Manchester City next season.

Arsenal said they are facing £120m Chelsea transfer hijacking after board makes key decision
football.london are aware that Declan Rice is Arsenal’s top priority in the coming weeks as Arteta looks to transform his midfield. However, former striker Alan Smith has hinted the North London club’s board have set a maximum price and could be vulnerable to another hijack.

He told Sky Sports: “West Ham may want £120m [for Declan Rice]. I’m not sure if they get it or not.” He’s a good player, of course he is, great character, he’s young, he has his best years ahead of him. He’s not a winner, he’s just a very good player who would add to your starting squad.”

“No, I really can’t, I have to say, not £120m,” added Smith when asked if he could see the Gunners making such a huge offer. “We saw their negotiating tactics with Mudryk when he was linked to Arsenal and they just wanted to go up to a certain price and then they were eliminated.

“They left him at Chelsea with Mudryk. If anyone else would foolishly offer money for Declan Rice, after I’ve spoken to people on the recruiting side, people on the Arsenal board who have given me an insight into how they work, yes they have a roof and will not be held hostage. They will have a number in mind and if they want to they will reach it, but they will not go any higher.
