During the team’s preseason training camp in Singapore, the Liverpool manager spoke with the media.

Jurgen Klopp acknowledges that it is “absolutely clear” that Liverpool needs to add at least one more midfielder during this transfer window.

Alexis MacAllister and Dominik Szoboszlai were two recent additions to the Reds’ engine room that cost a combined £95 million to make.

However, with James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Naby Keita having already left this summer, Liverpool is now without any senior options after the unexpected departure of Jordan Henderson to Al-Ettifaq, with Fabinho ready to follow the former captain to Saudi Arabia.

Romeo Lavia, a 19-year-old defensive midfielder, is the subject of negotiations between Liverpool and Southampton after the latter club rejected Liverpool’s initial offer of £34 million plus £4 million in add-ons. Southampton now wants £50 million for the player.

Prior to the start of the Premier League season at Chelsea in a fortnight, Klopp has previously stated that he wants a second new addition. However, the Reds are open to making any additional acquisitions before the transfer window closes.

When asked how crucial it would be to further improve the midfield division, Klopp responded, “That would not be a bad idea. There is no question in our minds as to what we must do. We are undoubtedly pursuing solutions.
    ”.

In Singapore on Saturday, Klopp addressed the media in advance of a friendly matchup against Leicester City of the Championship.

After Liverpool accepted a £40 million offer from Saudi Pro League champions Al-Ittiahd, Fabinho was unable to attend the recent training camp in Germany. Instead of traveling to the Far East, Fabinho left on Friday for Saudi Arabia to finalize the transfer.

However, that hasn’t been finished entirely, and Klopp emphasized how quickly agreements with foreign teams are resolved.

The Reds manager claimed that the absence of Fabinho “shows things are ongoing.”. “However, as far as I’m aware, nothing has been decided.

“Clearly, we must all adjust to these new circumstances; the timing is different from what we are accustomed to at this time. So it’s best to hold off on talking about something until after it has actually happened. ”.

Barcelona declined Liverpool’s €30m offer for star defender
Liverpool have linked up with a move for Andreas Christensen from Barcelona

In a bid to bolster their defensive ranks, Liverpool have set their sights on Andreas Christensen. Jurgen Klopp has made a personal request to the Danish centre-back. Christensen’s pursuit signals the club’s determination to strengthen its back-line for the new season.

This is according to Nacional via Football365 [h/t ECHO]. Liverpool made an initial offer of €30 million to Barcelona for Christensen’s services. However, the Catalan giants were quick to reject the offer, signaling their intention to retain the talented defender.

Undeterred by their second refusal this week after Lavia, the Reds are preparing a second €50m offer for Christensen, showing their willingness to live up to Barcelona’s appreciation for the player.

Christensen has built a reputation as a reliable and composed centre-back and it is no surprise that Klopp is eager to sign. The 27-year-old striker has already shown his defensive prowess at Barcelona and Chelsea. His style of play is in line with the philosophy of Liverpool which certainly makes him a suitable addition to the squad.

With Liverpool looking for defensive reinforcements, Christensen could certainly prove to be an ideal choice. Klopp’s personal interest in the player underlines his belief in the Dane’s abilities and the potential impact he could have on the team.

Liverpool’s back line certainly needs reinforcements as they are ‘uncertain’

Future of Joel Matip and Joe Gomez. The other obvious reason why we might use a number of defenders is the age of the current centre-backs. Mattip, 31. Virgil van Dijk, 32 years old. Nat Phillips is absent and Joe Gomez is not a first-choice player, leaving Ibrahima Konate alone.

If the deal goes ahead, Christensen would bring more depth and quality to Liverpool’s defensive options. His experience and composure in defense could prove crucial in high-stakes matches, adding extra stability to the team’s defense.

Klopp’s personal interest in the player could be a deciding factor but the end result remains uncertain, especially given Barca’s reluctance to let go of Christensen. Liverpool must be patient and ready to continue negotiations to bring the Danish defender to Anfield.

As it was, the manager claims the £50 million Liverpool target will play for him today.Romeo Lavia is expected to play in today’s exhibition match between Southampton and AZ Alkmaar.

Prior to their preseason match, Saints manager Russell Martin told the team that the lineup would remain the same as it did in Tuesday’s 3-2 loss to Bournemouth.

Lavia received a starting spot as Southampton played the Cherries at St. Mary’s Stadium despite Liverpool’s £40 million bid for the midfielder earlier this week.

Lavia was taken off at halftime after it became apparent that he was “coasting” and had his attention elsewhere during the first half.

Martin, however, has the option of restarting him this afternoon even though a transfer to Anfield is still unlikely. The Reds have not yet submitted a second offer for the Belgian and are waiting for Fabinho to leave the club before they resume their pursuit.

Liverpool was initially eager to sign Lavia in time for tomorrow’s match against Leicester City in Singapore, but they still appear to be far from confirming his potential arrival as the midfielder is still on the south coast this weekend.

Fabinho has already passed his medical with Al-Ittihad, so his departure from Merseyside may be official within the next few days. Lavia might join Liverpool before their game against Bayern Munich, but he might stay in England and play in their final preseason match on August 7 against Darmstadt.

It is urgent that Liverpool and Southampton work out a deal for Lavia.

Romeo Lavia’s personal terms have already been established, so Liverpool should be able to complete a deal for him quickly after their bid is accepted.

With just two weeks until their Premier League debut against Chelsea, the Reds must reach that point as soon as possible.

Lavia might only appear in one preseason game with his new teammates if he misses the Bayern Munich match. It would be unlikely at that point for him to make his Blues debut.

Jurgen Klopp’s midfield options may be constrained by Thiago’s recent injury concerns. Curtis Jones’ return to last season’s form will be eagerly anticipated by the German.

Romeo Lavia latest as Jurgen Klopp wants deal before imminent 'deadlineLiverpool are ready to make an improved offer for the Southampton midfielder, to avoid Chelsea’s interest and make it part of their pre-stuagional tours through Singapore

Liverpool is ready to make an improved offer for Romeo Lavia, with the hope of quickly completing an agreement for the midfielder.

Jurgen Klopp planns to renew his machine room this summer and has already signed Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai. But with Fabinho and Jordan Henderson now the subject of offers from Saudi Arabia, this soon became a need.

Lavia, who designed for the Saints of Manchester City last summer, was a radiant star in the championship despite their relegation. And he played enough heads during his first superior campaign to ensure that his decrease in the second layer is short -lived. A number of clubs have been linked with the 19-year-old, with Chelsea also remaining firmly interested. However, Liverpool want to strike while the iron is hot and just two days after an opening offer was rejected they are set to return.

Athletic report that after rejecting an initial offer of £37m, the Reds are ready to put together a financial package that should bring them closer to Southampton’s £50m valuation. This will likely consist of several possible additions, with high confidence that a compromise can be reached.

And Klopp hopes that will happen sooner rather than later when his side fly to Singapore later this week. Liverpool are set to leave on Thursday and the Kop boss wants a deal to be finalized before then so the Belgium international can sit on the plane.

Southampton manager Russell Martin praised the youngster for his professionalism midweek after playing 45 minutes in Tuesday’s friendly against Bournemouth. “Given what’s going on, I thought it would be good for Romeo to play tonight and do all these things because he didn’t have the minutes the others had.

“You can ask for an update, but I can’t give you one because I don’t know. I’ll speak to (sporting director) Jason (Wilcox) now, but I’ve prepared for this game.”

Klopp and his players returned to Merseyside after a camp in Germany, where he insisted more deals would be finalized before the competition begins in less than a month. “There are so many things to do,” he told the club’s media team. “The transfer window is open. If my day had 28 hours right now it wouldn’t be a problem – I could easily fill them!

\”There are still three and a half weeks until the first game of the season. Before then there is still a lot to do, especially in terms of the transfer market. This is now clear. And it will happen. New players must enter. We will have a good team.”

Pending an official announcement, Henderson’s departure is already complete, with the former captain making the controversial decision despite a late appeal from the club’s LGBT+ fan group.

Fabinho is also expected to leave but his move to Al Ittihad fell through due to a delay in the process. Not all parties have completed the transfer yet, which could net the Reds around £40m when completed.

Before the new Premier League season begins, Liverpool expects to sign at least one marquee player, according to sources speaking to Football Insider.

Romeo Lavia of Southampton is the player the Merseysiders are most interested in signing as a central midfielder.

Liverpool’s £38 million offer for the 19-year-old was turned down by the Saints, but they plan to come back with a better one.

In addition to being interested in Lavia, Chelsea is also prepared to make a formal move for the midfielder as their pursuit of Moises Caicedo appears to be coming to a halt.

However, Liverpool is currently in the lead to sign Lavia and has already reached a personal contract with the player.

As Liverpool looks to bolster their team ahead of the new season, there is still work to be done.

Their first match is against Chelsea on August 13; however, any new player must be registered by Friday, August 11 in order to face the Londoners.

At least one new player will have been signed by then, according to Liverpool.

Fabinho is scheduled to travel to Saudi Arabia to undergo a medical with Al-Ittihad while Jordan Henderson has already left the country.

Chelsea’s interest in Lavia was first made public by Football Insider back in March, along with interest from former club Man City, Arsenal, and Manchester United.

In addition to having a £40 million buy-back option that becomes operational in the summer of 2024, City will be entitled to 20% of any fee received for his services.

34 times in all competitions were made by the 19-year-old last season, who has a contract with Southampton through June 2027.

He has taken the field for the Saints in all of their preseason friendlies to this point, but on Tuesday (25 July), he was substituted out against Bournemouth at halftime.

As the competition for his signature grows, manager Russell Martin later acknowledged the youngster “has a lot on his mind.”.

Completed $90 million deal, unrestricted Everton free agent – wildcard Liverpool transfer finish with 2024 plan.

Up until the end of the transfer window, Liverpool may still throw some curveballs, and a last-minute Everton proposal could lay the groundwork
Up until the end of the transfer window, Liverpool may still throw some curveballs, and a last-minute Everton proposal could lay the groundwork for 2024.

In this transfer window, Liverpool has already sold its captain, and the club’s lone senior defensive midfielder is expected to follow suit. Nothing can be ruled out this summer, if that is one thing that has become clear.

As a result, even as some aspects of Liverpool’s transfer strategy for the remaining window start to take shape, a few wildcard options cannot be completely ruled out. Even Dominik Szoboszlai, who checks many of the typical recruitment boxes, came out of left field; there is still plenty of time for a few more twists and turns before the deadline.

The only thing that is currently a near-certainty is that Liverpool will sign a new midfielder. One more was already tentatively planned before both Jordan Henderson and Fabinho left, so it is now glaringly obvious that someone else needs to be hired.

Roméo Lavia seems to be the front-runner, and Liverpool and Southampton have been in negotiations for a while now (Daily Mail). Given his youth and one season of Premier League experience, the 19-year-old is himself somewhat of a wildcard, but he has evolved into the preferred choice.

It would be a slight surprise to see Liverpool pay for Lavia, but it would be even more surprising to see a deal approved anywhere near Crystal Palace’s asking price for Cheick Doucouré. But what if Liverpool doesn’t stop there in the midfield?

Doucouré is reportedly valued at $90 million (£70 million/€82 million) by the London club, according to The Mail. In contrast, Liverpool would receive almost half of that sum from the unforeseen sale of Fabinho; therefore, if FSG chooses him, the owners may be unusually eager to make the deal happen.

There are many factors working in Doucouré’s favor. Similar to Lavia, he has only played in one season of the Premier League, but by signing both players at once, Liverpool would lessen the risk of those bets. This would be a potent lineup going into the new season if Stefan Bajeti and others were included to share the load of Fabinho’s minutes.

While Doucouré and Lavia stand out as particularly strong Fabinho imitators, all three are excellent readers of the game. Although technically capable, they are happy to concentrate mainly on disrupting the play, stopping attacks, and then keeping things simple in possession.

Up until the end of the transfer window, Liverpool may still throw some curveballs, and a last-minute Everton proposal could lay the groundwork
With the addition of Lavia and Doucouré, Liverpool could logically declare victory in the midfield with Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, and Thiago, all of whom are very capable in the advanced number eight roles. Cody Gakpo has also been successfully trialed there.
The issue of defense must nonetheless be addressed.

Sincerely, it wouldn’t come as a surprise to see Liverpool postpone this phase of the rebuild until next summer, especially if it approves a significant expenditure on a player like Doucouré. On paper, that might make sense, but it runs the risk of happening again in the midfield, as it did last year.

Even if it means finding a stopgap until a sizable purchase is authorized next summer, Liverpool needs to improve the squad options in the back line. A 2024 push for the Croatian would be very alluring given that Manchester City has yet to complete a deal for Joko Gvardiol.

Liverpool, however, must make preparations if it intends to wait another year, regardless of the marquee name lined up. In essence, Jürgen Klopp needs to reenact the Arthur strategy, but this time it will be possible to do so without feeling rushed on the day of the deadline.

Due to this, Liverpool may end up signing a recent free agent from Everton, who is a true wildcard. Although Yerry Mina would undoubtedly catch everyone off guard, there are worse options.

Mina would not need to pay a transfer fee because Everton had already released the Colombian. A compromise “project” option with a high ceiling but a long way to go would not have him immediately prepared for Premier League action.

His elite goal threat is something else. The Colombian center-back ranks in the 99th percentile among center-backs in Europe’s top five leagues for both goals and expected goals per 90 minutes over the past year (FBref), a point that Klopp has been hammering home recently. In related news, he is dominant in the air, which is a big plus for Liverpool.

Because he is an outsider, Mina is a major problem. He and Doucouré could not both be registered unless there were additional outgoings, and Liverpool will not be unaware of the fact that the former Everton player has a similar profile to one Nat Phillips.

Phillips being kept around for yet another season seems absurd. In each of the most recent transfer windows, he appeared destined to move on, but setbacks like injuries and Liverpool’s perceived value prevented it. However, it’s possible that the current situation, which is homegrown, will be what keeps the 26-year-old on the books.

If Mina were signed, Klopp would also have to deal with his inconsistent injury history, which would be a major warning sign that the Arthur situation might be unintentionally repeated. This would be a truly wildcard conclusion, though, and one that might just keep Liverpool alive until 2024 in a summer where anything is possible.

Romeo Lavia transfer to Chelsea latest as Liverpool ready new bid for a £50m star
the most recent Romeo Lavia, Fabinho, and Keito Nakamura transfer rumors at Liverpool.

Liverpool ramps up their preseason preparations this week with a trip to Singapore where they’ll play Bayern Munich and Leicester City.

However, given the numerous gaps in his team, Jurgen Klopp will have to do it.

The club officially announced Jordan Henderson’s departure yesterday after the Liverpool captain agreed to a contentious £12 million transfer to Saudi Arabia’s Al Ettifaq.

Fabinho, meanwhile, remained in Merseyside despite being close to his own £40 million move to Saudi Arabia.

As the countdown to Liverpool’s match against Chelsea on August 13 approaches, it indicates that they will be active in the transfer market. Here are the most recent transfer rumors and who they are supposedly linked with:.

    Romeo Lavia.

Romeo Lavia’s agent, Southampton, has already rejected Liverpool’s first offer, but they plan to make an even better one next time.

The Reds are planning to make a bid closer to Southampton’s £50 million asking price for the 19-year-old than their initial offer of £34 million plus £4 million in add-ons.

If Liverpool doesn’t complete the transaction quickly, there might be a twist.

Chelsea, who is rumored to be considering a move for Lavia after their most recent offer for Brighton’s Moises Caicedo was rejected, could, however, present competition.

Lavia is an alternative that the Londoners are reportedly considering, according to David Ornstein of The Athletic, so Liverpool will need to act quickly to avoid a bidding war.

    Fabinho.

Keito NakamuraItalian writer Fabrizio Romano claims that the transfer of Fabinho is getting closer.

He claims that as the talks move forward, a medical could be scheduled very soon. The ECHO stated earlier this week that despite a lull in negotiations, Liverpool was still optimistic that a deal would be reached with Al Itihad.

The club is friendly with Fabinho’s agent, Jorge Mendes, and was optimistic that negotiations could move forward.

Romano reports that despite their caution, the Reds are optimistic that everything will be resolved very soon.

    Keito Nakamura

    Keito Nakamura
Keito Nakamura, a winger for LASK, has been linked to a transfer to Liverpool.

The Japan international has been repeatedly linked with a move to Anfield, and according to Foot Mercato, the Reds want to pay £6 million for the 22-year-old before returning him on loan to Austria.

The talented winger, who scored 17 goals and had eight assists last season while also making two appearances for his country, has also drawn interest from Borussia Dortmund and Aston Villa.

Although a deal to send him back on loan might make sense in theory, Liverpool hardly needs to add a new forward.

‘Kevin De Bruyne equalises’ – Liverpool send exciting message to Romeo Lavia during transfer talks

'Kevin De Bruyne equalises' - Liverpool send exciting message to Romeo Lavia during transfer talks
Liverpool.com spoke exclusively to former managers of Roméo Lavia as he is expected to join Liverpool from Southampton this summer.

“I think he’s one of the best,” said Arno van den Abbeel, referring to his former protege Roméo Lavia, close to a transfer to Liverpool. “I think in this position [midfielder] he is one of the best in the world for his age group.”

Van den Abbeel will know the quality of Lavia better than anyone. The Belgian coach worked with him both in the Anderlecht academy and in the national youth team, following his career from an early age.

The Belgian coach first worked with Lavia at U9 level at Anderlecht academy. “He came to the club when he was eight or nine years,” he remembers Van Den Abbeel of Liverpool.com.

“He played for a regional club, at a lower level for this. I remember that he was quite large for his age, he was quite long. We played five against five or eight against eight in that age group and played more in a central position. \ ”

At that age, the things that distinguished themselves on Lavia for Van Den Abbeel were mental qualities and his attention in training sessions, which already remembered a professional football player.

“He was already technically good. And he was focused and quite focused on what you already wanted to achieve. So he was always eager to learn; he always tried to do 100 percent of what was asked of him. He was already mature enough for his age.”

But of course there were also improvements that Lavia had to make to his game.

“He wasn’t that fast. In the beginning he had some problems with speed and acceleration. But as he grew up, he developed into a more explosive player as he got used to his body. It was just [being a little slow] growing fast at a very young age. So he had to develop some motor skills and coordination skills in the beginning.\”

Despite that area to improve, Van den Abbeel remembers standing out in his age group. “He really stood out. He was more above average, in that age group.”

However, at that age it is always difficult to predict a player’s potential. Van den Abbeel only worked with Lavia at Anderlecht up to the U10 age group. However, a few years later, his paths crossed again with Lavia while working for the Belgium U15 national team.

Liverpool may soon complete transfer different from what Jürgen Klopp has tried before
At this point, Lavia was a much more complete player.

“He was already playing an older age group,” Van den Abbeel recalled. “So he was playing in the Under-16s, and the Under-16s staff said to me, ‘You absolutely have to call this player.’ He played in the big tournaments with the club, so it wasn’t always easy to call him up for the smaller Games or small moments of recognition.”

Lavia was one of the biggest youngsters in Anderlecht’s prestigious academy at the time, and Van den Abbeel remembers seeing a player change drastically. “He really stood out for his age group and was one of the best players at the time,” says Van den Abbeel.

“He became much more explosive. He had much more speed and was very agile. He has become very agile in the field. He could turn fast, accelerate fast, he was technically superior and he had developed a good understanding of the game.” Match.

“He was very proactive in attack but also in defense. He played many one-touch moments while recovering balls or intercepting balls. What was most important to me was that he still had the same drive, he was still very focused on what he wanted to achieve.”

Able to play in multiple roles, Van den Abbeel remembers using him as a centre-back in a few games at U15 level.

“I played him as a central defender and he did very well there. I think that could have helped him develop the defensive skills or the leadership skills that he shows now.”

It wasn’t long before it got even more eye-catching. At U16 level, he was named team captain by Bob Browaeys.

“He was already like an adult,” Browaeys told Liverpool.com of his decision. “He was very mature and a bit more advanced in his development than the other players. I remember he was so cool and calm and he had an impact on the other players as well. He was disciplined. was enough to make him captain.”

Van den Abbeel remembers a similar character. “You should all be like him. He was very, very focused, very eager to learn and always focused,” he says. “His thoughts were always on football and the things he needed to do to improve. It was really a pleasure to work with him.”

'Kevin De Bruyne equalises' - Liverpool send exciting message to Romeo Lavia during transfer talks
Around the same time, Lavia also gained recognition from Pep Guardiola, who attended the annual Kevin De Bruyne tournament in Belgium and caught a glimpse of the young talent. Things were changing quickly and although Anderlecht offered him a professional contract, Lavia opted for a move to England to join Manchester City. “I think everyone was surprised,” recalls Van den Abbeel. “It’s a very big club. It was very young then. And people are always a bit skeptical when Belgian players leave so young because there are few who succeed and it’s not the easiest. ”

At the time, Anderlecht and even the Belgian federation tried to persuade him to stay, but Lavia’s decision was made.

“I remember the whole federation and the club trying to convince him not to leave so soon.” But I think he had a plan in mind and he wanted to execute it. And it went pretty well.

“The easiest thing would have been to keep growing in Anderlecht and try to be in the first team where everyone believed in him. And everyone was making big plans for him. But he chose the easiest path. difficult and it says maybe also find out more about him.\”

Arriving at Manchester City, in a more competitive environment away from home, at a time when COVID-19 restrictions were still in place meant Lavia didn’t have the easiest time at the start in England. “I saw him in training camp with the U18 team,” Browaeys recalled. “And he said it was a very difficult time for him the first six months he was there. It was not easy to leave Belgium and his family and enter the adult world.

But Lavia persevered and it wasn’t long before he dominated Manchester City’s age groups as well. His strong performances won him the approval of Guardiola again, who gave him his senior debut aged just 17 in the League Cup against Wycombe Wanderers.

A big part of his secret to success is his willingness to learn and his drive to improve. Always curious about the game, his coaches remember a player who was constantly trying to improve himself from a young age.

“Even when he went to England, he wrote to me and always asked me what was the next activity in the training program of the youth national team. He was very involved,” recalled Browaeys.

“To me, that was very typical of him. Players don’t normally do that, even captains in the past haven’t sent messages, but he has.”

Another bold move followed when he moved to Southampton last summer. But it paid off once again, as Lavia established himself in the Premier League, earning the club’s player of the year award ahead of James Ward-Prowse in return.

Looking ahead, a possible move to Anfield is now in the cards for the youngster. According to The Athletic, negotiations are underway between Liverpool and Southampton.

All eyes will be on Lavia in Belgium. Van den Abbeel is regarded as one of the brightest talents in the country and he believes he has the potential to reach the top level. “The press announced the top 50 Belgian talents this summer, and he was number one on that list,” says Van den Abbeel.

“It’s always difficult to predict potential talent. But I think his potential is close to the top level, the level of Kevin De Bruyne, the top level we have in Belgium.

“This is what should be the goal of him and this is also the potential of him. So I hope for him that it achieves it. But many factors can affect your career. So we’ll see. He certainly has what it takes to reach the top of football.”

However, Cody Gakpo, a potential challenger for the number nine position, has also scored, and Klopp will have been pleased with the Dutchman’s performance in that position.

Conor Bradley, however, ranks among the biggest winners. He has demonstrated to Klopp that he can be a capable replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold in the “hybrid” role that was introduced late last season, possibly even paving the way for the number 66 to move permanently into the middle at some point.

Liverpool will now recognize his advancement. Bradley is soon to sign a new three-year contract at Anfield, according to The Athletic, which will also reflect his excellent season on loan at Bolton, where he was named Player of the Season.

That occurs despite the Northern Ireland international receiving transfer interest from the Premier League and the Championship. Bradley has been left out of the group that is traveling to Singapore, despite the fact that Liverpool is clearly committed to keeping him long-term.

    Two deals get closer.

Following the signing of Jürgen Klopp's new contract, Liverpool is prepared to complete two additional transfers.
With one incoming and one outgoing deal on the table, Liverpool appears set to put two transfer sagas to rest soon. Both Fabinho and Roméo Lavia’s transactions have advanced to this point.

The Athletic reports that after an opening offer was turned down and negotiations are still ongoing, there is an “increasing likelihood” that a deal will be reached for Lavia. Liverpool might use add-ons in a second transfer offer to partially approach Southampton’s asking price.

Personal terms “will not be an issue” should the two clubs settle on a fee. Lavia is also prepared to have a medical exam, according to Sacha Tovalieri. Chelsea is still interested, but it appears as though this one might actually happen.

Regarding Fabinho, Paul Joyce acknowledged on Twitter that there is a “renewed expectation” that he will depart for Al-Ittihad after a first breakdown in negotiations has been overcome. The Brazilian is not anticipated to travel to Singapore with his Liverpool teammates, according to a later update, which confirmed the Saudi side is “progressing” in the deal and that all parties are committed to seeing it through.

Liverpool may soon complete transfer different from what Jürgen Klopp has tried before
Liverpool are eyeing a $64 million transfer this week and it would represent a major change from what the Reds were previously going for under Jurgen Klopp.

With it looking like Roméo Lavia could become the next summer signing to go through the door to Liverpool this summer, there is no doubt that the young Belgian would be an exciting addition.

The 19-year-old has all the skills needed to become a truly adept player at the base of The Reds’ midfield, but he would also represent a complete change from what Liverpool usually aim for in the market.

Liverpool normally opt for slightly more established players who are three or four years older. This allows their development to take place on the books of other clubs and there is more certainty about the player’s true potential.

The more data behind someone, the less risk there is associated with the transfer. Perhaps the explanation is simply that there are no midfielders aged between 22 and 24 who Liverpool’s recruitment team believe are of the required, accessible and achievable standard.

The going rate appears to be over $100 million for settled options: Declan Rice has already moved and likely would have been out of the Reds’ price range; Enzo Fernández was also admired before joining Chelsea in January (again for a huge sum).

But Lavia, with just one full senior season to his name and a total of 29 appearances for Southampton, would be a very different kind of signing. He would be much cheaper than Rice or Fernández, but would come with more unknowns.

With a valuation of $64m (£50m/€58m), it’s no small investment to make either. Every senior player that Jürgen Klopp has signed since signing for Liverpool has played football for around five full seasons before moving to Anfield, as the list follows:

    2023/24:

Dominik Szoboszlai — $77 million, six seasons of senior football when he signed

Alexis Mac Allister-$45 million, seven seasons of senior football when he signed

    2022/23:

Darwin Núñez-$83 million, five seasons of senior football when he signed

Cody Gakpo-$48 million, four and a half seasons of senior football when he signed

    2021/22:

Luis Díaz-$48 million, five and a half seasons of senior football when he signed

Ibrahima Konaté – $46 million, five seasons of senior football when he signed

    2020/21:

Diogo Jota — $53 million, six seasons of senior football when he signed

Thiago Alcântara – $32 million, 11 seasons of senior football when signed

    2019/20:

Takumi Minamino – $9 million, eight seasons of senior football when signed

    2018/19:

Alisson Becker – $84 million, five seasons of senior football when he signed

Naby Keïta – $68 million, six seasons of senior football when he signed

Fabinho – $51 million, six seasons of senior football when he signed

Xherdan Shaqiri – $17 million, nine seasons of senior football when he signed

    2017/18:

Virgil van Dijk — $97 million, seven seasons of senior football when he signed

Mohamed Salah – $47 million, seven seasons of senior football when he signed

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – $45 million, seven seasons of senior football when he signed

Andy Robertson – $10 million, five seasons of senior football when he signed

    2016/17:

Sadio Mané-$45 million, five seasons of senior football when he signed

Gini Wijnaldum-$32 million, nine seasons of senior football when he signed

Joël Matip — Free transfer, seven seasons of senior football when signed

There’s no doubt that Lavia could be a great signing for Liverpool, but there’s no other way to judge him than to see him as a higher-risk signing than what the Reds are usually looking for.

For the asking price of $64 million, Lavia would become Liverpool’s sixth-biggest signing of all-time, despite the small sample of what he can do. This brings excitement for what it could become, but it also represents something of a gamble.

As news of Fabinho’s transfer to Al Ettifaq broke, Liverpool were linked with another Brazilian midfielder to fill the void left by 29-year-old former captain Jordan Henderson.

Any remaining deals that need to be finalized should arguably be done as soon as possible as Jurgen Klopp would certainly prefer a permanent squad before his side start the new Premier League season at Stamford Bridge in just over two weeks.

The Reds are believed to continue to try to sign Southampton defensive midfielder Romeo Lavia, 19, and, Football Transfers note, there have also been talks with Fluminense for Andre.

According to the report, the Brazilian club want 25 million euros for 80% of the economic rights and future bonuses of the 22-year-old.

Obviously, that’s an amount Liverpool could afford, although the problem for Klopp is that the player won’t be allowed to leave his current club until the end of his season, which would mean Andre wouldn’t have to. be hired before the next transfer. window. Fulham is also attributed to an interest in its services, but you would also see that the same problem applies.

Since red quickly needs in situ bodies, an offer that goes beyond the price could persuade Fluminense to allow her husband a summer train.

However, it is by no means sure and can hunt Klopp in another place for reinforcements.

Romeo Lavia transfer to Chelsea latest as Liverpool ready new bid for a £50m star
The latest about Chelsea’s interest in Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia with Rivals Liverpool now the front runners to sign the 19-year-old Belgium International

Romeo Lavia could play in Stamford Bridge on 13 August, but who for?

The midfielder of Southampton is a wanted man after having made an impression in the Saints’ relegation of the Premier League last season. In just 19 years old, Lavia showed real maturity in his game in what an extremely difficult campaign was for Southampton. Such adulthood, in combination with brilliant defensive displays, means that he now expects that he will continue with St. Mary this summer.

Football.London understands that Chelsea Lavia watched on various occasions last season with the scouts of the club who did extensive research into the teenager. In early June, the Blues began initial talks with Southampton about the potential signing of Lavia, but nothing has happened since.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have already seen an initial bid rejected by Southampton for the Belgium international. The Reds, who take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge next month to kick off their respective Premier League campaigns, have seen a £37m bid rejected by the Saints and are expected to return with even more money to bolster their options. midfield.

Both teams are in similar positions in midfield. Chelsea have already lost N’Golo Kante, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Mateo Kovacic and are looking for other midfielders before the end of the transfer window, with Moises Caicedo still high on the agenda. Meanwhile, Liverpool have lost James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and Jordan Henderson. Fabinho should also leave shortly. Jurgen Klopp has brought in Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, but the German coach wants more before the new season starts.

Liverpool are now favorites in signing Lavia, while Chelsea have focused more on lengthy negotiations with Brighton for Caicedo. The Saints midfielder wants to join the Reds and there is confidence that a deal will be finalized. It looks like Chelsea will miss Lavia, which makes it all the more important to find a way to sign Caicedo. At the moment Brighton are not bouncing back on the Ecuador international’s £100m valuation but talks are ongoing and they are trying to find a solution.

Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi recently said he would be happy if the midfielder stayed at the club. However, the Seagulls manager also said there will be a plan in place in case he leaves.

“My deadline is the ego – his attitude in the dressing room and on the pitch,” De Zerbi explained. “The other is not my problem.

“I’m happy if Moises stays and plays with us. We’ll still play without him. We have to be ready to find another midfielder when Caicedo leaves.”
