Liverpool Third ‘target’ to seal $39m transfer elsewhere amid Mohamed Salah ‘talks’ claim

    Mohamed Salah 'talks'
Media Digest: Liverpool could soon see another linked midfielder on the move. A complaint has been made about Mohamed Salah amid transfer rumors circulating.

    Mohamed Salah talk

Liverpool have certainly felt the impact of the Saudi Pro League this summer. It would not be an exaggeration to say that the money-driven market disruption has completely changed plans at Anfield.

Indeed, Jürgen Klopp actually conceded as much when he discussed how Liverpool could afford their (unfortunate) offer from Moisés Caicedo, referring to the unexpected departures of both Fabinho and Jordan Henderson. While this brought in unlikely funds, it also increased the urgency for further recruitment.

The effect would be increased tenfold if Mohamed Salah were to change. His agent has come out and categorically denied any talks but the rumors persist and it is now claimed that Al-Ittihad are trying to reunite him with Fabinho.

According to Rudy Galetti on X, the Saudi team have approached Liverpool over Salah. The player is open to it, but does not force change and let the club decide. That would certainly see Salah stay there this summer without needing further disruption.

Importantly, the Egyptian hasn’t shown any real signs of decline either, which can’t be said for either Henderson or Fabinho. Still, Galetti claims ‘discussions between the teams are open’.

Another Liverpool 'target' on the move
It has been a brutal few days for Liverpool. Caicedo initially opted for Chelsea, now it looks like Romeo Lavia will follow. Now it looks like another unique Liverpool ‘target’ could make a move, although it will be a far less disappointing setback. According to Loïc Tanzi, who also reports on X, Napoli are in “very advanced” negotiations on the transfer of Gabri Veiga.

Crucial for Liverpool, the young Spaniard is not a number six. Mentioned as an exciting potential option for the Reds (Mundo Deportivo) at the start of the transfer window, his name disappeared from the limelight after Klopp signed both Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.

While another young number eight would be a luxury and Veiga still looks in the cards, Liverpool’s priorities have changed significantly since the first encounters. With him on the verge of a $39m (£31m/€36m) move to Serie A, that won’t be on the cards at Anfield, where the search for a defensive midfielder is now almost anything is considered a setback.

Trent Alexander-Arnold sends a clear message to Liverpool Premier League rivals after Chelsea draw
Liverpool drew 1-1 against Chelsea in their first game of the Premier League season
Trent Alexander-Arnold has insisted that Liverpool view themselves as title challengers this season, despite few people supporting them to do so.

The majority expect Manchester City to retain their Premier League title this season, making them the first team to win England’s top flight for four consecutive years, with Arsenal as their closest rivals.

Liverpool’s lack of transfer market signings has left many hesitant to tip for the title, with a defensive midfielder and centre-back still missing from the squad. Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Chelsea exposed both areas. , with the Reds exposed on several occasions during the game at Stamford Bridge.

This performance may have done little to convince doubters that Klopp’s men are capable of challenging for the top spot, though Alexander-Arnold pays no heed to such predictions. Asked about the lack of outside belief that Liverpool can achieve the goal this season, the Reds right-back said: “It’s good for us.”

We have proven over the years that we can do it. We have a team full of winners, we just signed a player who won the World Cup [Mac Allister] and another who won in Germany [Szoboszlai].

“We have a winning mentality and our goal this season is to win the league. We won’t hesitate to do that, and neither should we. Our expectation is that we’ll be around by the end of the year. We look back on last season as a big disappointment, because with the quality of players we have, we should be fighting for the title every year.”

Trent Alexander-Arnold sends a clear message to Liverpool Premier League rivals after Chelsea draw
Calls to bring in new midfielders to Liverpool are only getting louder following the 1-1 draw with Chelsea, although Alexander-Arnold has admitted he is ready to step in on a permanent basis if asked to give up his defensive duties entirely .

“It’s something I’m really looking forward to and it’s something I’ll love to play, but it’s not my decision,” he told Sky Sports. “If and when this decision comes, I will learn on the job and try to make it work. We have to try to get as close to perfection as possible, and it’s difficult. There are times when we will lose the ball and it will be easier for Ibou [Konate] to move into right-back and for me into centre-back.

“I like to get things done, get on the ball and help my team win games. Doing it from a central box allows me to get out of reach more and play more from the center of the pitch, I’ve always been told in the last few seasons to press up so it’s easier to transition, but when they come down our left is way behind!”

Speaking of Chelsea’s performance, the 24-year-old added: “It was a difficult game. They made a lot of changes, but so did we. I think they had a point to prove today after a really bad season in their books and it was always going to be a tough place to come. Stamford Bridge, would you take a point from here to the start of the season and we’ll build on that.

“We got ready for them to start in a 4-3-3 formation, but they came up with a three-man defense or a five-man defense, whatever you want to call it. They made it difficult for us to play and pressed hard in the first 20 or 25 minutes we played. really good, but for some reason we couldn’t keep up and they took over the game.

Manchester City star and Chelsea target Aymeric Laporte have ‘concrete chances’ of securing his exit from the Etihad Stadium

CHELSEA are on the hunt for defensive reinforcements this summer as Mauricio Pochettino look to further improve a side which struggled to keep their sheets clean last season.

And that has led to constant speculation in the media that Chelsea are monitoring a number of possible defenders until the end of the transfer window in a bid to fix a very big problem in the squad.

Shocking reports surfaced in the media over the weekend that Chelsea have contacted Man City over a possible deal for the impressive Laporte, who is one of the best defenders in world football.

Now journalist Rudy Galetti has claimed Laporte has a very good chance of sealing a Man City exit – although he believes Barcelona and Bayern Munich are leading the race for the star.

Galetti told GIVEMESPORT: “There are concrete chances that Laporte will leave Manchester City this summer.”
“Bayern are interested in him but their priority is to sign Kim Min-jae in early July and Barcelona are also on their way.”

“The future of the Spanish centre-back, whose contract expires in 2025, has not yet been decided.”

It would be a huge shock if Laporte left the club despite being an integral part of the Man City squad – Pep Guardiole won’t want him to leave.

However, if the Spanish manager feels he cannot get the best out of Laporte in the future, a deal could be at stake.

Due to Chelsea’s £120 million transfer lesson from the sale of Mason Mount, Levi Colwill’s price has skyrocketed.

Due to Chelsea's £120 million transfer lesson from the sale of Mason Mount, Levi Colwill's price has skyrocketed.
Chelsea transfer news: Todd Boehly-Clearlake Capital’s selling of Mason Mount ranks among its worst decisions thus far, but losing Levi Colwill is worse.

Chelsea is improving as a result of its errors.
It has come to light that similar efforts are being made to bind down Levi Colwill, just one day after agreeing to sell an academy graduate for the highest transfer fee ever paid for a player coming through Cobham.

Brighton, who were impressed by the 20-year-old’s performances under Roberto De Zerbi last season, have already made two sizable offers to sign him. The Seagulls’ offers, at £40 million, would be higher than what Chelsea was offered for Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori.

These are currently the largest incoming prices for Cobham’s biggest exits, but Mason Mount is expected to bring in £55 million for his move to Manchester United, with the possibility that that sum could still increase to £60 million with add-ons reached.

It is evidence of both the high caliber of players being developed and the mistakes that were made along the way. Chelsea acquired Kalidou Koulibaly for £35 million on a four-year deal the same summer that Mount was sold, a development that seemed unthinkable even a year earlier.

Due to Chelsea's £120 million transfer lesson from the sale of Mason Mount, Levi Colwill's price has skyrocketed.Having sold Marc Guehi to Crystal Palace before making a first-team appearance for the club and Tomori for £25 million in 2021, it raises concerns over which players are kept and why.
However, an offer from the Saudi Pro League has helped them out of a hole with that one.

Despite the fact that more than £300 million worth of attackers have been signed, Abraham demanded a higher fee when he joined Roma and no player has yet to match the 15 league goals he scored in 2019–20. Mount’s 11 last season is the closest they have gotten to matching Abraham’s totals after four years.

The same error needs to be steadfastly avoided now that Colwill is regarded as one of the best players to come through the academy and his loan spell at Huddersfield as a teenager was comparable to Reece James’ at Wigan. Losing Colwill is out of the question after selling Guehi and Tomori and returning to Thiago Silva as a viable option.

For Mauricio Pochettino’s inaugural season, the club wants to make him a crucial piece of the puzzle. There is no immediate need to act because he still has two years left on his initial contract and has the option of exercising an additional club option to extend it for another season.

Brighton is one of many teams interested in Colwill, but there is still a desire to show their allegiance to him before the preseason. He has reportedly been given a new, long-term contract by the club, according to the Evening Standard, but he won’t sign anything until he meets with Pochettino after his return from the Under-21 European Championships with England.

Due to Chelsea's £120 million transfer lesson from the sale of Mason Mount, Levi Colwill's price has skyrocketed.
Colwill is already being discussed, in contrast to Mount, who entered the final two years of his contract without much progress toward improved and agreed-upon terms. It wasn’t until after last summer that Mount became a serious problem, at which point time was of the essence.

According to Transfermarkt, the player’s value has increased significantly since he joined Huddersfield as a 19-year-old in 2022 for about £4million. However, the club’s decision to reject early bids from clubs across Europe shows where they stand as the summer transfer window approaches.

It is believed that losing Mount in these conditions was the biggest oversight made by the ownership to date. Perhaps a sign of how seriously this situation is being taken is that steps are being taken to prevent the same thing from occurring with a player who is thought to be even more promising than the 24-year-old.

Chelsea has learned from it, but it’s still too soon to be certain of the future until Colwill has extended his stay.
