    The Uruguayan media absolved Nunez of blame, noting he was among the standout players, with El Pais remarking, “he was the one who tried the most, but was very alone in attack.”

    Initially, there were expectations that Nunez would remain suspended for his involvement in the Copa America controversy this summer. However, a successful appeal allowed him to participate in the match against Peru.

    Since making his Uruguay debut in 2019, Nunez has netted 13 goals in 30 appearances.
