Thiago has discussed his retirement from football and outlined his future plans after returning to Anfield as a Liverpool supporter.
The Spanish international departed Liverpool at the end of last season and chose to retire from playing. Since then, he has briefly joined Hansi Flick’s training sessions at Barcelona, aiming to build a new career in football.
On Saturday afternoon, Thiago visited Anfield for the first time as a supporter and gave an interview to the club’s official website.
He shared that his decision to retire at the age of 33 was driven by “physical issues.”
“I miss being around – being around the team and the locker room. I miss the competitive part of the game,” Thiago said. “But at the end, the decision was forced by physical issues.”
He added that he is staying fit by playing with friends and staying engaged with football. “But I’m just keeping fit and trying to play as much as I can with my friends, and trying to be alive in the game,” he noted.
When asked about his future, Thiago suggested he might pursue a career in coaching. “Well, at the end I had the chance to get into football again, helping the coaching staff of Barcelona,” he explained. “I decided for the practical part, not for the theory – just because of the experience I had doing all these years in football and the kind of role I had in the team.”
“I just want to pass it through to other players. I love to help new players as well, young players to develop under the coach. It was a pretty good experience,” he added.
For now, Thiago is relishing more time with his family and enjoying a less hectic lifestyle. “You just get to know this side of life because since we were young we didn’t have more time for ourselves to know how life is more at home,” he said. “But also to be close to football, still doing analysis, coaching some boys and also living the game as well as a fan.”
Thiago is currently back on Merseyside, partly for tax reasons following his departure from Liverpool, and recently shared an update from the school run on Instagram.
Arne Slot might have wished for his midfield prowess on Saturday!
Thiago Alcantara, 33, left Liverpool at the end of the season. Barcelona has acknowledged that he is temporarily back on the pitch.
The Spaniard chose to retire from sports after leaving Anfield, and it appears that he has chosen to pursue a career in coaching for the next phase of his life.
In order to “gain experience” before making a longer-term decision, Thiago has joined Hansi Flick’s coaching staff for Barcelona’s pre-season training, the Catalan team announced on Wednesday.
The 33-year-old may decide to stay with the La Liga team for the 2024–2025 season, albeit there is currently no commitment to do so.
Because they shared the 2019–20 Bayern Munich treble, Thiago and Flick have a close bond. The Spaniard’s intelligence would have been evident to the German coach, who probably used that information to lure him to his coaching staff.
Even if Thiago simply plays for the rest of the preseason, this is a wise decision for the 33-year-old so early in his retirement.
What led Thiago to choose retirement?
Even though Thiago was one of the most talented players of his generation, his career was marred by injuries, therefore it is unlikely that he will be recognised with the greats.
The 33-year-old’s decision to retire was perhaps influenced by the fact that he only played five minutes during the 2023–2024 season. The Spaniard might no longer have faith in his physique.
The former Barcelona player may have been content with his career after representing both Liverpool and the Catalan team.
The former midfield player has two Champions League medals in his collection and has won everything in Germany and Spain. Though it’s unclear if he can do the same as a coach, Thiago plans to try in the upcoming years.

Specialists from “one of the most successful performance departments in world football” were employed by Liverpool
The public is aware of Liverpool’s well-documented injury problems and feels that something needs to change.
The new lead physical performance coach is anticipated to play a significant role. 22 senior players missed a game for the Reds last season due to injuries; that’s a total of 362 games missed.
It’s a startling figure that is way too high, and it gives Arne Slot and his team a clear indication of where they need to improve.
The club’s medical staff has always performed at the highest calibre, but this summer’s events—including Ruben Peeters’s—have given rise to changes.
He joined the AXA Training Centre as the lead physical performance coach for the first team when Slot left Feyenoord, and he has already started working in his new position.
According to the Athletic, during their three seasons at the Dutch club, player availability exceeded ninety percent – a percentage Liverpool will be hoping to hit.
“One of the most successful medical and performance departments in world football” was attributed to Peeters’ contribution. They added that Slot was always open to hearing what the experts had to say.
The two are renowned for having an excellent eye for detail, with Peeters constantly searching for methods to maximise performance, including food and sleep.
Peeters gave Slot a “meticulous briefing” at Feyenoord regarding the duration of the squad’s daily training sessions. This may not seem groundbreaking, but it does demonstrate his meticulousness.
Hearing from a head coach that he is open to hearing what is being said is always encouraging, and you can be sure that as his internationals return, he will be inundated with reports.
Virgil van Dijk is exhausted from a “very, very, very long year,” as he has already made quite clear, and Peeters and the medical staff will need to give him careful attention.
Liverpool has a pair in Peeters and Slot who are willing to be patient and see the long picture, even though they did not steal Feyenoord’s whole medical and performance crew.
Finding the ideal balance between the new and current employees will take some time and effort during the summer, but the early signals are encouraging.
We’re ready for improvement after missing 670 games overall the prior two seasons due to injuries!
Ten players, including Thiago and Joel Matip, are departing Liverpool as the club approves the exits of many stars whose contracts at Anfield expired last month.
As Arne Slot takes over, the ten out-of-contract Liverpool players have now departed Anfield, with Thiago being one of the more well-known departures.
The Reds had already announced that a number of players, whose contracts were set to expire at the end of June, would not be staying at Anfield and would instead be moving on to new pastures. Slot started working recently and is currently reviewing the team that he took over from Jurgen Klopp.
After a spell of injuries on Merseyside, Thiago, who originally signed with Bayern Munich in 2020, was granted permission to depart. The Spaniard was supposed to do a lot, and while he occasionally lived up to the expectations, he never did.
The other well-known figure who has been let to depart is Joel Matip. The Cameroonian was one of the players that joined Virgil van Dijk at the centre of defence during the team’s victory in the 2019 Champions League final. But just like Thiago, he was always getting hurt.
After Matip’s years of service, Klopp had stated he hoped Liverpool would offer him a new contract, but that hasn’t happened. “I’m pretty sure the club will show their class, just as they should,” he stated. “I believe they have already informed Joel that whatever occurs, as long as he is hurt, everything will be OK. We now need to decide with Joel what to do next.
That’s a typical action, but he deserves all of our support, and he will receive it. Although I would argue that he merits a new contract, it is not my choice. I am unable to sign these documents.”
Other academy talents Mateusz Musialowski, Adam Lewis, and Melkamu Frauendorf have also been granted permission to depart. Lewis made his first-team debut in an FA Cup replay against Shrewsbury Town in February 2020, but he had spent the previous four seasons on loan. All three of the players have represented the senior team. Frauendorf’s debut versus Shrewsbury was also her first start. Musialowski was out for the first time this year in March.
Other academy players who have left Liverpool include Nathan Giblin, Francis Gyimah, Luke Hewitson, Niall Osborne, and Cody Pennington. They’ll have to look for work somewhere else. In his first summer, Slot has a few more important decisions to make.
Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah’s futures are still up for debate. Clubs in Saudi Arabia are interested in Salah because he can still cost a high fee, while Nunez has struggled to score on a consistent basis even after signing for a high price.
Thiago Alcantara, Joel Matip, Adam Lewis, Melkamu Frauendorf, Mateusz Musialowski, Nathan Giblin, Francis Gyimah, Luke Hewitson, Niall Osborne, and Cody Pennington are the entire list of Liverpool players who have left.
After losing a number of squad members, Liverpool will be trying to finish deals this summer.
Ten players who have reached the end of their Liverpool career will say goodbye to the club today. Contacts usually end on June 30, as is customary throughout the English top flight.
Now that this day has arrived, the Reds will formally say goodbye to several people who were once part of their organisation.
At the first team level, Joel Matip and Thiago Alcantara are now unrestricted free agents and will not have their contracts extended. During their tenure on Merseyside, both players have experienced their fair share of injury issues, which probably had an impact on the decision about their future.
Adrian is another player whose contract expires today; he has been extended an offer. What will happen next with the Spaniard, who has allegedly agreed to return to his boyhood club Real Betis, is still unknown at this time. The 37-year-old may still stay at Anfield, however this is not definite.
Adam Lewis, Mateusz Musialowski, and Melkamu Frauendorf—all of whom have played senior level for the club—are making their way out the door at the Academy level. While Musialowski had to wait until March of this year for his chance after being used from the bench in a Europa League victory over Sparta Prague, Lewis made his first-team debut in an FA Cup replay against Shrewsbury Town in February 2020 but has spent the last four seasons out on loan. Frauendorf also made their maiden start against Shrewsbury, though it was in January 2022.
The club chose not to extend terms with the young players, therefore fellow Academy players Nathan Giblin, Francis Gyimah, Luke Hewitson, Niall Osborne, and Cody Pennington will also be starting new chapters in their lives as of right now. Goalkeepers Jacob Poytress and Reece Trueman have been given the chance to continue their career with the team, just like Adrian did, but there has been no update regarding their commitment to this choice.

RB Leipzig is interested in Liverpool midfielder as clubs are looking for summer transfer
The most recent transfer rumours from Liverpool indicate that 21-year-old Tyler Morton is drawing attention from across the continent for the summer.
According to reports, RB Leipzig and other European teams are interested in signing Tyler Morton, a midfield player for Liverpool, on a permanent summer transfer.
Morton, 21, a Wirral native, joined the Reds academy at the age of seven and appeared in nine first-team games under Jurgen Klopp. The last was in March 2022 and as roads into a regular starting berth are often restricted at Anfield, he has exploited Championship loans to get the majority of his senior experience to far.
His first term away from the club was with Blackburn Rovers, turning out 46 times for the Lancashire club, then last season he enjoyed playing a crucial position in the engine room of Liam Rosenior’s Hull City side, who nearly lost out on the play-offs. The Liverpool loanee’s achievements were rewarded when he scooped up the division’s young player of the month award in December.
Under new head coach Arne Slot, Morton is scheduled to return to Merseyside for preseason training. However, The Times reports that he may be traded soon after, as many prominent teams are reportedly interested in signing him to a long-term contract this summer.
Leading the charge is RB Leipzig, who have experience doing business with Anfield executives. The two teams worked out a £60 million deal for Dominik Szoboszlai last summer, and then they had a less than ideal loan experience with Fabio Carvalho.
Along with unidentified Premier League rivals, the article claims clubs “the calibre of Sevilla, Feyenoord, Eintracht Frankfurt” are also interested in the midfield player.
It is reported ‘nearly every’ Championship club would like to take Morton on loan for the season ahead also, yet it is now the player’s wish to advance his career at the next level. He last renewed his Liverpool contract in January 2023, and his exit is believed to hinge on the club’s evaluation of valuation, Slot’s perceptions once pre-season training is begun and lastly Morton’s own plans.
Several Liverpool teenagers threaten to make the breakthrough under new head coach Arne Slot next season.
Liverpool are looking to sign Lille defender Leny Yoro during the summer transfer window.
However, the club recognises the gravity of Real Madrid’s interest in the 18-year-old, with the Spanish club presently the obvious favourites to sign him this summer.
Nonetheless, Liverpool’s interest in a young talent like Yoro demonstrates the club’s clear plan to build for the future under Arne Slot, and the Dutchman will arrive at Anfield to discover a number of outstanding young players already in his squad.
Jarell Quansah had a breakout season last year, but who will follow in his footsteps as Liverpool’s next breakthrough star? Our writers have their say.
Ian Doyle: Liverpool has been fortunate in recent seasons in that when opportunities have arisen for their young players in the first squad, they have usually delivered.
Jarell Quansah and Conor Bradley answered the call this season, while Stefan Bajcetic did the same the year before. Before that, Harvey Elliott, Curtis Jones, Neco Williams, and, farther back, Trent Alexander-Arnold all seized the opportunity to not only help the senior team but also improve their chances of a top-level career.
Jarell Quansah and Conor Bradley
It speaks a lot about Liverpool’s injury woes this season that nine Academy graduates have made their first-team debuts. However, a player who made his first Reds appearance over two years ago will undoubtedly be the breakout sensation next season.
Indeed, if it hadn’t been for his personal fitness concerns, Bobby Clark would almost definitely have sealed his position in the senior squad for good during the most recent season. Clark missed more than four months at the start of the season as well as the final weeks, but he appeared in 23 matchday squads in between.
Highlights included a cameo from the bench in the FA Cup win over Arsenal, his first Premier League start at Nottingham Forest, his first FA Cup assist against Southampton, and his debut goal in the Europa League victory over Sparta Prague.
Clark, who turned 19 in February, is still in the early stages of his career. Few would be surprised if he became a regular in and around Liverpool’s first squad next season. He truly is that good.
Theo Squires: If Bobby Clark’s season hadn’t been cut short by injury, we’d definitely be talking about him in the same way as Jarell Quansah and Conor Bradley have. Jurgen Klopp already deemed him a fully-fledged first-team player, despite the fact that we’ve just seen glimpses of his brilliance for Liverpool so far.
The midfielder had to wait until the FA Cup match against Arsenal to make his first senior game of the season, and he was limited to only 12 matches last season due to injuries. Despite this, he went on to achieve his first goal, first assist, first Premier League start, European debut, and maiden winner’s medal in a memorable breakthrough season. This is only the beginning.
Clark, who was only 19, was unfortunate to miss out on the Europa League group stages and the early rounds of the League Cup due to an injury. But when he returned to fitness, he made up for lost time, catching the eye against Chelsea at Wembley Stadium to help Liverpool win the League Cup. Next season, he will undoubtedly take those next steps.
Some may believe the Reds need a new midfielder following Thiago Alcantara’s exit, despite the Spaniard making only one substitute appearance in the final 18 months of his Liverpool tenure. However, in Clark, the club already has a ready-made substitute.
Slot may look forward to unleashing the talented teenager, who, like Quansah and Bradley before him, did not appear out of place in the Premier League. While a return to the Champions League may limit the game time available to a handful of Reds rookies, Clark is eager to make an impression nevertheless.
Joe Rimmer: Anyone who witnessed the Carabao Cup final can attest to Liverpool’s young talent.
Kaide Gordon
But they have a slightly overlooked (though certainly not within the club) teenager who will undoubtedly step up next season – though where he does so remains to be determined.
Kaide Gordon will not be with Liverpool’s under-21s next season.
Still only 19, the winger is ready for more regular first-team action, and if he isn’t in Liverpool’s senior squad, expect him to flourish on loan at another club.
Gordon’s potential is great, and it should not be forgotten how highly regarded he was when he first appeared under Wayne Rooney as a 16-year-old prodigy. Liverpool beat Manchester United to sign him for a sum that might increase to about £3 million, and he quickly impressed Jurgen Klopp.
Gordon made four appearances in the 2021/22 season and impressed in the Carabao Cup semi-final at Arsenal. Then injury hit, and he missed over 18 months of playing due to a variety of issues.
He returned to make three senior games last season, impressing the coaching staff as he improved near the conclusion of the season. More can be predicted next season.
Arne Slot, a Dutchman, will take over as Liverpool’s manager for the 2024–2025 season. The Reds have announced that significant changes have already been made to the player roster.
Ten players have departed Liverpool, including cult favourites Joel Matip and Thiago Alcantara, the club has confirmed.
Last month, it was confirmed that the two were leaving; their contracts were about to end. After the match against Wolves on the final day of the season, which also happened to be Jurgen Klopp’s last game in command, Matip and Thiago had the chance to say their final goodbyes to the team.
There are still more exits. The departure of several academy starlets has been announced by the Reds. Melkamu Frauendorf and Adam Lewis, who were given first-team opportunities under Klopp, are both departing.
Mateusz Musialowski, who played earlier in the season against Sparta Prague, will also be saying goodbye. Additionally departing Anfield are Nathan Giblin, Cody Pennington, Niall Osborne, Luke Hewitson, and Francis Gyimah.
A statement from the club read: “Everyone at Liverpool FC thanks Joel, Thiago, Adam, Melkamu, Mateusz, Nathan, Francis, Luke, Niall and Cody for all their contributions and wishes them each the very best for the future.”
The Reds are in the midst of signing stars to new contracts, even though there are a lot of exits. Adrian, the Spanish stopper, has received a new contract offer from the team.
Jacob Poytress and Reece Trueman, two academy goalkeepers, are also in discussions about staying longer at Anfield. The summer transfer window for Liverpool will now open for business.
It looks like we’ll need to find Thiago and Matip replacements. The Cameroon defender said: “It has been eight wonderful years here at Liverpool” after his departure was officially announced.
“I was given the opportunity to be a part of an incredible history in an amazing club, with a fantastic coach and an incredible team. We have the world’s greatest fans and have won numerous accolades.
“I am really appreciative of the amazing time I had with these special individuals that support Liverpool FC and the supporters of the team.
From the beginning, my spouse and I have had a warm welcome and unwavering support, and we had an incredible time here with the kids. It will always hold a particular place in our hearts.
Matip was out for a significant portion of his last Liverpool season. The defender, who played in more than 200 games for the team, sustained a catastrophic knee injury the previous season. Thiago’s contributions were also restricted because of his ongoing health problems.
Ederson, an Atalanta midfield player, has been linked to Liverpool.
According to Tuttosport, the Reds have been following the 24-year-old midfielder closely this season and are pleased with his play. This season, Ederson has been a crucial member of Atalanta’s squad and has contributed to their UEFA Europa League victory. The Reds will have had a close-up look at the Brazilian while he was playing in the Europa League against Liverpool.
It will be fascinating to watch if they make an official offer in response to their shown interest.
It goes without saying that Ederson would be a fantastic addition to Liverpool’s midfield this summer if they were to recruit a top-tier central player. He might be an important player for the Reds because he possesses the physicality and technical skills necessary to succeed in the Premier League.
Thiago Alcantara and Liverpool have parted ways, so they will need to find a suitable replacement.
The Reds’ season has been lacklustre; they only managed to win the Carabao Cup, despite having pushed for the quadruple until the final few weeks of play.
Liverpool needs quality players if they are to make a good comeback the following season. When the summer window opens, one of their top aims will be to strengthen the midfield.
Ederson will contribute goals and inventiveness to the team in addition to providing defensive cover.
The 24-year-old midfielder has demonstrated his abilities in Serie A, and if the chance arises, he will try his luck in the Premier League.
Being one of the greatest teams in England, Liverpool will present the Brazilian midfield player with an alluring possibility to join them. They might give him the chance to contend for significant trophies in the upcoming years.
Ederson is approaching his prime, and should the deal go through, he will aim to make a name for himself as a vital member of the Reds team.

This summer, Liverpool should sign five players and sell four, including Arne Slot’s “first wish.”
a look at the players Liverpool ought to be targeting this summer and who they ought to add to their roster.
After an emotional final season with Liverpool, Arne Slot has formally announced that he will succeed Jurgen Klopp. The Reds are about to undergo a lot of upheaval, and there is a lot of conjecture on the players that might join and leave the team during this impending new regime.
As the summer transfer window draws near, we’ve examined Liverpool’s current roster to identify four players who ought to be let go before the new campaign begins, as well as five individuals the Reds should be pushing to sign in order to boost their squad and contend for the championship once more.
1. Sepp van den Berg (Sell)
Many people predicted that Van den Berg would become a star at Liverpool, but like many other young players over the years, he has had difficulty breaking into the first squad. He is currently on his third loan stint away from Anfield, and given that Liverpool is actively looking for new centre backs, he doesn’t seem much closer to competing for a spot in the starting lineup.
2. Calvin Ramsay (sell)
Speaking of young players at Anfield, Conor Bradley has performed admirably this year, and with Trent Alexander-Arnold and him at right-back, there is hardly any space for additional competition. Calvin Ramsay will be better off pursuing a move where he will be a starting option because his chances of competing for a regular berth in this Liverpool team are very limited.
3. Caoimhin Kelleher (sell)
Liverpool would suffer if they were to sell Kelleher, although it is unlikely that they will do so given how well he has performed this season as an Alisson substitute. However, the Reds just aren’t able to give him the starting position he deserves, thus the club ought to give him the chance to be an unquestionable first choice elsewhere.
4. Nat Phillips.(sell)
When Nat Phillips filled in during Liverpool’s terrible defensive injury crisis in the 2020–21 campaign, he greatly impressed. But since then, he has dropped back down the hierarchy and been leased out three more times.
Current Liverpool news as two major transfer priorities are determined ahead of the summer while players in Brazil are being scouted.Real Madrid is clamouring for a Reds star.
Priorities have reportedly emerged before the transfer window opens, and Liverpool is rumoured to have dispatched its senior scout to South America in order to evaluate a few prospects before the summer. Real Madrid and Barcelona, meanwhile, are rumoured to be eyeing a summer transfer for a Reds midfield player.
Arne Slot will lose a few well-known players, but Liverpool will gain more players than Jürgen Klopp will take away from the Dutchman. Signing crucial players like Virgil van Dijk to new contracts will be just as important, if not more so, than any potential transfer transaction. This is your summary of the most recent Liverpool news.
Liverpool embarks on a scouting expedition to South America.
According to 90Min, chief scout Barry Hunter has already travelled to Brazil in search of the nation’s brightest young players. It is suggested that Liverpool would evaluate South American players in addition to those in Europe’s top divisions.
Liverpool’s two positional priority this summer are center-back and attack, the source claims, in addition to their pursuit for players in Brazil. Given the current state of the squad, major alterations are not necessary, although further improvements would ideally come well before the start of preseason.
Barcelona and Real Madrid battles for the Liverpool star
On the same day as Jürgen Klopp (and Joël Matip), Thiago Alcântara, a midfielder for Liverpool, bid Anfield farewell. The Spanish star left Merseyside after four years. Regrettably, his injuries plagued him throughout of his time at Liverpool.
However, Fichajes claims that the 33-year-old would be open to returning to Spain and that Real Madrid and Barcelona are eager to sign him on a free transfer. The latter may even give him a role on Hansi Flick’s coaching staff (as a player and coach simultaneously) when the former Germany manager succeeds Xavi, who is set to depart Barcelona this summer, according to AS.

Liverpool is working harder to sign a £51 million attacker ahead of the summer transfer window.
After Jurgen Klopp bid the team farewell over the weekend, Liverpool are prepared to embark on a new chapter under manager Arne Slot.
With a competitive team that won the Carabao Cup and placed third in the Premier League this year, the German manager departs Liverpool.
To regain success both at home and in Europe, the Reds must still make adjustments.
Tutto Juve reports that Liverpool will boost up their efforts to recruit Federico Chiesa, a winger for Juventus, in order to bolster their assault. They also say that Chiesa may fetch as much as £51 million.
Club representatives saw Juventus’ victory over Atalanta in the Coppa Italia final. The versatile Italian wide-forward, who can play multiple positions, is being watched by the Reds.
The Premier League team would be wise to pursue him as a transfer target given his versatility in playing on the wing or behind the striker.
Following the return of Julian Ward and Michael Edwards to the team, the Merseyside club made the decision to bolster the assault by adding significant players to the roster.
Pedro Neto of Wolves (via Telegraph) and Mohammed Kudus of West Ham United (via Fichajes) have both been identified as possible targets for this summer.
They are, nevertheless, thinking about making a move for Chiesa, who finished the season with two assists and seven goals in 31 Serie A appearances.
His present contract with Juventus expires in2025, and negotiations to extend it have reached a deadlock.
Liverpool has an opportunity to seize this uncertainty and approach the player.
This summer, Liverpool needs a new wide attacker.
The transfer for the Juventus player demonstrates Liverpool’s goal to bolster their attack in the upcoming campaign.
Diogo Jota experienced fitness problems last season, and Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo displayed erratic play.
The Serie A team is said to want to keep the player, but a price of about £51 million should be sufficient to sign him.
The group that owns Man City and other clubs, City Football Group, has its sights on a midfield player from Liverpool who Arne Slot will not be playing with.
In previous seasons, Manchester City has demonstrated a willingness to reach transfer agreements with Arsenal, while virtually little business has been done with Liverpool. However, the parent company of Etihad could potentially look to sign a midfield player from Anfield.
At least 12 different clubs are owned by the City Football Group. To execute a multi-club model featuring Liverpool, Michael Edwards has returned to FSG, though it’s unclear if the model will end up being nearly as detailed as that.
The model undoubtedly has advantages and disadvantages. Girona will believe it was a great success because the Catalan team has guaranteed a historic spot in the Champions League for the upcoming campaign (if City Football Group can demonstrate enough distance between the La Liga team and Manchester City). Troyes, which faces a second successive relegation into the relative obscurity of the French third tier, has witnessed protests, nevertheless.
Girona has expressed a desire to see Thiago Alcântara returned to Spain. With Arne Slot scheduled to depart at the end of his contract in the summer, the midfielder will not have the opportunity to make an impression on the veteran, barring an extremely unlikely turnaround.
Slot will be missing out on a fantastic opportunity. When Pep Guardiola was the manager of Bayern Munich, he is said to have said, “Thiago or nothing.” However, because to injuries that have derailed his autumn years, Liverpool hasn’t seen him much throughout the last 18 months.
There’s little question that Thiago can still play at the best level when he’s on the pitch. Furthermore, according to Carrusel Deportivo, there are “offers” to keep him in England. However, Girona is also a “possibility,” and Real Betis is making “an offer.”
Despite Guardiola’s affection for Thiago, considering his injury history and advanced age, it’s difficult to believe the City Football Group would choose him over Girona or Manchester City. However, one thing is for sure: under Slot, the 33-year-old will not be a part of the “Liverpool 2.0” concept.
According to Liverpool.com, there are several reasons to support Thiago’s transfer to Girona. Another opportunity in the Champions League at this point in his career would be a possibly unexpected bonus, and he could offer a wealth of experience to the dynamic side (provided the City Football Group can resolve the eligibility issue).
Even so, it would be odd if the Liverpool player found his way into the Manchester City system. Even while all of his ailments will limit his legacy and make it unlikely that he will live to see the Slot period, he will still be fondly remembered, if only in the context of “what might have been.”
Thiago, a midfielder for Liverpool, currently only has two alternatives for the summer.
This is in line with a recent rumour from Fichajes, which states that two Italian teams are interested in the seasoned Spanish midfield player.
After sustaining a muscle injury in February, Thiago, 33, is expected to depart Liverpool when his contract expires at the end of the current campaign.
What’s next for Thiago after his trade to Liverpool?
And now that his future is uncertain, the 33-year-old playmaker is reportedly drawing interest from Juventus and Inter Milan, albeit his next move has not yet been determined.
Thiago has played in Spain with Barcelona and Germany with Bayern Munich, but he hasn’t played in Serie A, which is one reason a transfer to Italy would be appealing to him.
However, it wouldn’t be shocking if Liverpool’s soon-to-be-leaving number six ended up in the Middle East before hanging up his boots, with clubs in the affluent Pro League of Saudi Arabia scheduled for a massive £2 billion summer buying binge.
Thiago, who won the FA and Carabao Cup under Jurgen Klopp, has spent four years at Anfield and has contributed directly to nine goals in 98 games across all competitions.

Liverpool Transfer News: The Reds want a center-back valued around £50 million.
Liverpool plans to enter the market in the summer in an effort to bolster their defence.
Even though they were in the running for the Premier League title this year, Jurgen Klopp’s team has had defensive difficulties.
They need to strengthen their defence in order to compete with sides like Arsenal and Manchester City, as they have given up more goals than them this season.
This season, the Reds have only kept nine clean sheets in the league, far less than Arsenal’s sixteen.
The Merseyside club’s Europa League loss to Atalanta at Anfield served as yet another reminder that they require a new defensive face.
The Reds are after Eintracht Frankfurt centre defender Willian Pacho, as verified by journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.
Significant changes are anticipated at Liverpool.
This summer, Liverpool is set to see a lot of changes, with signings expected in a variety of areas.
Jurgen Klopp is expected to depart the team, along with a few members of his coaching staff.
Thiago Alcantara is probably going to leave due to his persistent injury issues this season, while Joel Matip’s ACL injury complicates any contract extension.
Meanwhile, Virgil van Dijk, who is already 32 years old, is not getting any younger, and Ibrahima Konate’s frequent injuries are worrisome.
Di Marzio claims that the Merseyside club is very interested in Pacho, a 22-year-old who is excelling in the Bundesliga with Frankfurt.
Liverpool’s team needs a left-sided centre back.
The Ecuadorian international is the only left-footed centre back in the Reds’ defence.
Given these factors, it seems sense and is probably the case that Liverpool’s hiring team is giving defensive reinforcements a serious consideration.
Strengthening the center-back position is crucial if they want to ensure continuity and consistency in their defence for the upcoming season.
Klopp has utilised Quansah, Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk, and Ibrahima Konate as his four right-footed centre backs this season.
The Premier League team might be wise to sign a young, left-footed defender.
