Reports say some at Newcastle United think ex-Chelsea defender Tino Livramento could be worth a lot more than they sold him.

According to iNews, Eddie Howe’s side believe their new signing could be worth £90m within a few years.

Livramento had great promise all around him as he made his way from the academy to the first team at Stamford Bridge.

However, it was recognized that he would always struggle to establish himself as a regular with the club playing Reece James in the same role.

Another admirer of Colwill is Jordan Henderson, who spoke highly of him while Colwill was in a recent England training camp.

However, if the youngster is looking for playing time, Liverpool is not the place for him right now. The Reds are undoubtedly looking for a left-footed center back in Colwill’s mold, but that would be a more long-term solution.

Ibrahima Konate is currently his obvious partner because Virgil van Dijk isn’t leaving just yet.

They will have to accept that if any left-sided defender does move to Anfield this summer.

We don’t see how Colwill’s concerns about joining the Reds would be allayed after hearing the specifics of his Chelsea situation. We wouldn’t mind seeing it happen, but let’s wait to get excited until after the outcome of his discussions with Poch.

Chelsea are presently in negotiations to sign a “special” player who disobeyed Thomas Tuchel’s instructions.

Chelsea have started talks with Southampton over a possible deal to sign Tino Livramento from them.

Tino Livramento, who spent most of his childhood in Chelsea’s academy, made his breakthrough into the first team when the Blues sold him to Southampton in 2021.

Interestingly, former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel once explained that he only intended to leave England’s right-back on loan.

Tuchel said (Chelsea YouTube channel): “For example, for Tino Livramento, we had a plan and we would have preferred a loan, but he saw his future [differently and decided] to leave.”

However, Livramento went against Tuchel’s wishes to leave Stamford Bridge permanently. The Daily Mail claims Chelsea have now held talks with Southampton over Livramento.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are reportedly interested in signing the 20-year-old right-back with the idea of him returning to St Mary’s on loan next season.

The report adds that the Saints value their exciting full-back at around £38m. Incidentally, they have already turned down offers from Newcastle United worth £12m and £21m for him this summer.

Described by former Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl (BT Sport) as a “very special” player, Livramento is extremely talented.

He is an attacking full-back who made quite an impression in the Premier League early in his Southampton career, leaving Chelsea fans very frustrated at being sold in the first place.

Unfortunately, a long-term injury halted his progress and meant he missed the entire 2022/23 season.

His Saints side were relegated to the Championship last year but he has returned to action in recent games.
