Liverpool was already informed by Xabi Alonso of the ideal $66 million number six for Arne Slot.

    Martin Zubimendi

Xabi Alonso’s favourite player has been linked to both Manchester United and Arsenal this summer. He should, however, be considered by Liverpool as a defensive midfielder.

A transfer target has been selected by Liverpool to play holding midfield for Arne Slot in the upcoming campaign. That guy is being intensively chased ahead of the August 30 deadline with the Reds hoping to get a deal done.

The Athletic broke the story earlier today; the individual in question’s identity was not disclosed. It is said that he is currently playing outside of the Premier League, but the details of his name are still unknown.

However, Xabi Alonso may have provided some indication as to who it should/may be. A genuine prospect who has already been connected to Manchester United, Arsenal, and – somewhat clumsily — Liverpool is Martin Zubimendi, a player he tutored at Real Sociedad.

Recently, Zubamendi won Euro 2024. He replaced injured Manchester City player Rodri at halftime in the championship match against England. The 25-year-old has a $66 million (£52 million/€60 million) release clause.

Transfermarkt values the player’s contract with Real Sociedad until 2027 at $54 million (£42 million/€50 million). He progressed through the club’s ranks, therefore Alonso’s guidance during Real Sociedad B’s managerial tenure was advantageous to him.

    Martin Zubimendi

Zubamendi was used by the former Liverpool midfielder 25 times, the last time being in March 2020. He made his first start for the first team three months after the initial pandemic lockdown, when football was restarted, and he hasn’t looked back.

Two years ago, Alonso spoke to The Guardian about how much he admired the player. “Martin’s a player all coaches would want,” he stated. “He’s generous, he always thinks more about his teammates than himself.”

“He has that ability to generate play, to make those around him better, always offering solutions; to improve the move,” Alonso said. “Even before the ball reaches him, he knows what to do. He can arrange the axis in that way. It was a pleasure working with him.”

That’s high regard coming from a manager who won the Bundesliga. Zubimendi is a top-notch defensive midfield player, thus Liverpool should give him serious consideration. It could possibly be Zubimendi, the unidentified target.

Liverpool.com states: Although no club should rely its transfer decision on the manager of another club, a strong recommendation from someone with the calibre of Alonso should be taken into consideration. Alonso has experience playing at the base of Arne Slot’s midfield, which is exactly what Liverpool needs in an elite ball player.

    Assan Ouedraogo

English teams Liverpool are reportedly considering a move for Schalke’s wonderkid, Assan Ouedraogo, a midfielder who costs just £12 million.

When Liverpool was mentioned as a potential bidder for Ouedraogo in October, along with Bayern Munich, AC Milan, Brighton, and Everton, the player was first connected to a move to Anfield.

The 18-year-old’s representatives were reportedly in contact with other teams, including the Reds, shortly after reports of negotiations with his camp surfaced in Germany.

After eight months, according to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany, Liverpool, Manchester United, Aston Villa, and Newcastle have all gotten in touch to see whether they would be interested in moving to the Premier League.

On Saturday, Plettenberg asserted that Ouedraogo was “awaiting a call from Bayern” to find out if his desired transfer to Munich would happen.

However, the writer later claimed that Bayern had “officially informed” the young player that they would not be pursuing a deal with Schalke.

This has made a transfer to Liverpool more likely, since they would be able to cash in on Ouedraogo’s £12 million contract release clause.

Plettenberg asserts that the clause, which is exclusive to Premier League clubs, “must be activated by mid-June,” giving interested parties a specific timeframe.

In July, Ouedraogo made his first appearance for Schalke’s first team. He scored in a 5-3 loss to Hamburg, making history as the club’s youngest player and goalscorer.

Although he has played a number of positions in his brief career, he is currently settling into his role as a midfielder; Xabi Alonso has even been compared to him.

With his eye for goal and sharp passing range, the Schalke midfielder is more of a natural No. 8 than a No. 6, and he has the ability to be a difference-maker in games, according to GOAL’s James Westwood, who profiled Ouedraogo in April.

Despite his impressive stature of 6’3,” the youth is, according to Westwood, “quite agile for such a tall player, and a skilled ball handler who has little trouble operating in confined spaces.”

He went on in his report:

In the early part of the season, Schalke started depending on Ouedraogo to break through the lines. With his explosive pace and close ball control, he’s incredibly difficult to stop once in full flow.

He also plays with a very direct style and a mature head on his shoulders that belies his young age. He also wreaks havoc when receiving the ball on the half-turn.

As was already indicated, he poses a serious risk when approaching from a corner and has demonstrated that, when in shooting range, he can be lethal with either foot.

“If Ouedraogo keeps going in the same direction, he has a great chance to develop into a fantastic goalscorer and a superb all-around midfielder. It won’t be long before he earns his first cap for Germany.”

Naturally, it is still to be seen if Liverpool’s purported interest in Ouedraogo would materialise into a real action.

However, time is of the essence, so we might find out sooner rather than later.

News about Liverpool: Jurgen Klopp gave a "selfish" message, and Xabi Alonso hinted at the Premier League.

After reaffirming his intention to remain in Leverkusen, Xabi Alonso will not be succeeding Jurgen Klopp, who will need to be replaced by Liverpool at the end of the current campaign.

As Jurgen Klopp’s time at Liverpool draws to a close, the Reds are getting ready for a major Anfield night matchup against Atalanta.

The Merseyside team has known for a few months that Klopp’s tenure as manager will end this season. Xabi Alonso chose to stay at Bayer Leverkusen, and Ruben Amorim seemed to be leading the way, but no news has been made on his replacement.

Liverpool, who will host Serie A team Atalanta, is one of the favourites to win the Europa League. Although Gian Piero Gasperini’s club sits sixth in Serie A, they have won every game they have played in Europe, including a recent victory over Amorim’s Sporting CP team.

We have the most recent information on the Reds’ managerial position before of another crucial game, along with some build-up to the Atalanta match. These are the most recent quotes from Mirror Football about Anfield.

The Premier League position of Alonso

News about Liverpool: Jurgen Klopp gave a "selfish" message, and Xabi Alonso hinted at the Premier League.

Even though Xabi Alonso chose not to sign with Liverpool this summer, the Bayer Leverkusen manager hasn’t ruled out going back to England in the future. In an interview prior to his team’s Europa League match against West Ham, the Spaniard discussed his thoughts on Premier League football.

“I’m still a young coach, so it’s definitely a nice one (thought), but you never know. Right now, I have enough on my plate to think about,” he remarked. “I talk to several colleagues who coach in the Premier League on a regular basis, and they are aware of how difficult it is to prepare for and participate in every game.

“West Ham is one of the many fantastic players, coaches, teams, and stadiums in this competition; it’s really exciting.” We are excited about our fantastic opportunity to progress and continue in a fantastic season as we approach them tomorrow with the utmost respect.‌

    Elliott messages Klopp

News about Liverpool: Jurgen Klopp gave a "selfish" message, and Xabi Alonso hinted at the Premier League.

Harvey Elliott, a midfielder for Liverpool, has talked about striking a balance between advocating for regular football and without coming across as conceited. As Jurgen Klopp is ready to announce his starting lineup for Atalanta, the former Fulham player, who won a pivotal penalty at Old Trafford last weekend, has made it clear where he stands.

“I’m not saying that I don’t appreciate every chance I get to wear a Liverpool shirt. However, I want to push myself,” Elliott remarked. “I’m no longer a child. I’m a guy, and I’m developing rapidly. I have to take responsibility for my actions, even if that means going to the gaffer’s house.

“I prefer not to cause too much agitation. Since I work with the team, I don’t want to come out as conceited. However, I want to solidify my position on this club.

Klopp confronts the reporter on the Henderson interview.

When Jurgen Klopp gave a direct message to a Dutch journalist during the Liverpool manager’s pre-Atalanta press conference, things went south. Liverpool’s manager persisted after revealing that the journalist in question’s colleague had done a heated interview with Jordan Henderson.

“Your colleague, is he a friend of yours?” Klopp was sacked. Upon learning that the coworkers saw each other infrequently, he went on, saying, “Wow! How awful of an interview that was!”

Following a draw with Fortuna Sittard at the time, Henderson furiously replied to the interviewer. Liverpool’s manager said he would “take that apology on behalf of Hendo” after learning that the journalist at his news conference had received an apology from the concerned colleague.

If Liverpool approves Rúben Amorim’s transfer from transfers to formation, four things will ‘absolutely’ occur.

If Liverpool approves Rúben Amorim's transfer from transfers to formation, four things will 'absolutely' occur.

Rúben Amorim allegedly has a “verbal agreement” to take charge at Liverpool for the upcoming campaign. What kind of player can the Reds expect from him if he moves to Anfield?

Although it may not be pleasant to consider, Jürgen Klopp’s last few games at Anfield are drawing near. In the best-case scenario, the first leg of the Europa League quarterfinal on Thursday will be his penultimate home game in Europe.

Sporting CP manager Rúben Amorim is the front-runner to succeed Klopp after Xabi Alonso declared himself officially out of the running. This season, the 39-year-old is expected to win a second league title in Portugal and has become one of the most highly regarded young managerial talents in the world.

In response to questions over his future on Friday, prior to Sporting’s 2-1 victory against title challenger Benfica, Amorim declined to rule out leaving the team despite Liverpool’s continued interest. When asked where he planned to spend the summer, he replied, “I cannot make any guarantees.”

“I’m leaving Sporting if I don’t take home any trophies. That has always been abundantly evident. We need to win, so I thought it was crucial to convey that to the players. We’ll make those decisions later, but our goal is to win trophies.”

Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany claims that Liverpool and Amorim have a “verbal agreement.” However, how will things appear at Anfield if Amorim succeeds? Liverpool.com has examined four scenarios that we think will ‘certainly’ occur should the Reds choose the Sporting manager to succeed Klopp.

    decision on formation

Amorim appears to be limited to using a back three at the time. However, would that hold true at Liverpool? Not always. The Reds’ current team appears much more suited to continue with a 4-3-3 shape, but a decision would still need to be made. Shifting and abandoning that would put the midfielders in doubt while also necessitating the addition of more centre backs.

Priority should be given to integrating players like Harvey Elliott and Dominik Szoboszlai into the squad, but unless they were forwards, they would not be a good fit in a 3-4-3 formation. Should they take that action, it would raise serious concerns about whether players like Luis Díaz and Mohamed Salah are better out wide. It would seem sense to base the team on a back four, but Amorim would have the last say.

    Liverpool’s playing style

Liverpool has scheduled the hiring of Jurgen Klopp's replacement.

To argue that Klopp’s Liverpool plays ‘heavy metal’ football is long out of date; the Reds are far more based on dominance now than they were when the German coach took over. However, given that Manchester City and Arsenal are also the greatest at it, it would seem that Amorim’s approach is the best going ahead in the Premier League.

In short, the goal is to stifle the opposition by maybe combining possession with pressure. Even though Liverpool has come a long way towards that kind of methodology in the last few years, Amorim would probably emphasise the shift even more. It’s aggressive and thrilling, but it also takes a Pep Guardiola-esque attitude.

Layers from Sporting CP are linked with transfer

Just as when Klopp joined and many assumed that Marco Reus and other talents from Borussia Dortmund would follow him, it is inevitable that Liverpool will be connected to some players from Amorim’s former club. That never happened; in the end, even if Klopp would have preferred to sign Jude Bellingham, he did not sign a single player from the Bundesliga team.

Sporting’s most likely candidates to join Anfield are Gonçalo Inácio, Pedro Gonçalves, Morten Hjulmand, Ousmane Diomande, and Viktor Gyökeres. But Liverpool’s relationship with Amorim meant that they would not sign any of them.

Comparisons to Xabi Alonso are unavoidable

Xabi Alonso's "situation changes," and FSG, the owners of Liverpool, are "in talks" to acquire a second team.

We can be certain that Xabi Alonso will not succeed Klopp at Anfield, even though it is highly likely that Amorim will take over as Liverpool’s new manager. Although he was the early leader, the Spaniard has subsequently eliminated himself from consideration.

All the same, Alonso parallels are unavoidable. The belief among many Liverpool supporters was that the former midfield player for the Reds was the ideal candidate. There’ll be talk about what may have been if he keeps working miracles with Bundesliga champion-in-waiting Bayer Leverkusen.

Amorim or anyone else taking over at Liverpool will be held up against Alonso. However, that need not be a negative thing. It must be claimed that Liverpool has a better chance than Leverkusen of maintaining its present level of play the following season.

News from Liverpool: Jurgen Klopp comments after Xabi Alonso leaves the team and considers his options

When the Premier League resumes after the international break, Liverpool will visit Brighton on Sunday. Jurgen Klopp’s team will have a great chance to put further pressure on their championship rivals.

This weekend, following the international break, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool will host Brighton at Anfield in their return to play.

Furthermore, Liverpool has a great chance to increase the pressure on title contenders Arsenal and Manchester City. Liverpool will finish the weekend atop the standings if Arsenal loses and they win.

In addition, a lot has happened off the pitch as Liverpool looks to replace Klopp, who stated he would be leaving his position as manager at the end of the current campaign. In light of everything mentioned above, here is the most recent Anfield news.

    Alonso decides.

Xabi Alonso has stated that he will stay at Bayer Leverkusen, despite reports that he was being courted by Bayern Munich and Liverpool to become their next manager.

“Last week I had a very good meeting when I informed of them [Leverkusen’s directors] of my decision to continue being coach of Bayer Leverkusen,” Alonso stated on Friday. “You must undoubtedly thoroughly evaluate every decision you make.

“As a young coach, this is the ideal environment for me to grow as a coach right now. This is the ideal location right now. Firstly, I must appreciate the management. I feel valued by every department, and the club has been really supportive.”

    Jurgen Klopp speak up

In response to Alonso’s choice to remain at Leverkusen, Klopp has shared his thoughts, stating he “understands” the motivations.

“I can discuss about being a young manager at a club and achieving success,” Klopp responded when questioned regarding Alonso’s declaration. “I essentially followed suit and never felt bad about it. They might be able to maintain the team together because of how well Xabi is performing there.

That isn’t always the case. I can see why he would want to do that. Leverkusen is quite remarkable; it’s not as though he constructed them from earlier years. He has developed a really unique mindset that is present on the pitch.”

    Torres comes back

News from Liverpool: Jurgen Klopp comments after Xabi Alonso leaves the team and considers his options

According to a report from Spanish publication Marca, former Liverpool striker Fernando Torres has returned to Anfield this weekend to observe Klopp.

According to the article, Torres spent Friday and Saturday at Liverpool’s training facility and will attend their match against Brighton on Sunday. The 40-year-old is eager to pick up tips from one of the top managers in the business.

Torres rejoined Atletico Madrid in 2021 and is currently a coach for the club’s under-19 squad. As a player, Torres spent four seasons at Liverpool, making 142 games in all competitions and scoring 81 goals.

Arsenal and Liverpool are interested: Dortmund will give up their prolific striker.

    Donyell Malen

Donyell Malen can yet be forced out of the team by Jadon Sancho’s outstanding performances for Borussia Dortmund.

A possible trade agreement that would keep the former Manchester United player in Germany might employ the Englishman’s excellent teammate as a makeweight.

Yet, there will be no shortage of suitors for the 25-year-old right-sided striker, according to Edin Terzic’s team.

“Jadon Sancho continues to improve. He most recently scored in matches against Eindhoven and Bremen. The team examined historical information from the archives in order to compare Sancho’s initial Dortmund stats. Then, his workout regimen will be modified,” Christian Falk said in his special Fact Files column.

Sebastian Kehl, the sports director, is overjoyed with Sancho. He wants to speak with Manchester United in May because of this. Another loan is the objective.

“However, a backup plan exists as well: Donyell Malen is presently performing at his highest level since joining Dortmund. There is interest in him from Manchester United. Dortmund would discard him. A trade exchange would be possible.

“Good news for Dortmund: The Dutchman is also attracting interest from Arsenal FC and Liverpool FC.”

Malen has been having an incredible season in the German top division, contributing eight goals in his last seven league appearances.

Is Sancho going back to Manchester United?

Until Sancho issues a very public apology to Erik ten Hag, it appears quite doubtful that he will be able to resume his career at Old Trafford at this point.

However, considering how a return to Germany has rekindled a waning career, the 23-year-old might be happy enough to stay put.

At this point, the only thing that could persuade Sancho to believe differently would be a managerial change in Manchester

This summer, Xabi Alonso'makes decision' between Liverpool and Bayern Munich.

Liverpool has moved on swiftly from Xabi Alonso and is currently pursuing a preferred managerial target.

Following the news that Xabi Alonso will remain at Bayer Leverkusen, Liverpool has appointed a new manager as the team makes plans.

What a waste of a Good Friday. Given the news that Xabi Alonso would most likely not take over as manager of Liverpool, that is, at least, how those who were completely on board with him will have felt.

For a lot of Reds fans, Alonso was the ideal combination of pragmatic and passionate. Regardless of any prior ties to the club, his great record in an admittedly limited time as coach at Bayer Leverkusen would have put him high on the Anfield wishlist. His successful five-year tenure as a player means there would have been little trouble getting the fans behind him.

But unless the Spaniard does a stunning 180-degree flip, any transfer to Liverpool will have to wait, dash the hopes of many who couldn’t see past the former midfield player returning to his old haunts.

Alonso’s choice to stay at Leverkusen is commendable in certain aspects. It demonstrates not only his determination to stick with a career that he obviously feels is barely getting started, but also his refusal to be moved by larger clubs simply batting an eyelash at him.

Both Alonso and his current team—which, who knows, might one day be Liverpool—will gain from his patience and clear confidence in his ability to land better roles later in his career.

Naturally, some may believe that Alonso is limited to what Leverkusen can accomplish, especially if they win the domestic double this year, and that he would be better off trying his abilities at a more prestigious club. But the prospect of continuing to hone his managerial skills in the Champions League next season, away from the burden of being one of the favourites, would undoubtedly be alluring. He will also be able to explore the full potential of his Leverkusen team.

All of that, though, is currently irrelevant to Liverpool, who have long since realised it would be challenging to convince Alonso to leave Leverkusen. Ever since Jurgen Klopp announced his resignation in January, the Reds have been making

All of that, though, is currently irrelevant to Liverpool, who have long since realised it would be challenging to convince Alonso to leave Leverkusen. Since Jurgen Klopp announced his resignation in January, the Reds have been working hard to get closer to

    Ruben Amorim

With the hiring of Michael Edwards as the football chief executive of Fenway Sports Group earlier this month and the subsequent confirmation of Richard Hughes as the Reds’ next sporting director, that quest picked more speed. They are at the head of the chase.

Nor have the other names under consideration changed. Roberto De Zerbi, whose Brighton team will be at Anfield on Sunday, is still a contender because of his Premier League experience, which is considered a significant advantage.

However, Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim is currently the preferred candidate because of his playing style and Portuguese success, which have attracted interest from other teams. Liverpool knows they can’t afford to waste time if they determine Amorim is the right man, especially because teams like Bayern Munich and Barcelona are looking to hire new managers this summer.

Whoever takes over will, however, be in a unique position for a new Liverpool manager because they will be joining from the outside and inheriting a squad that is growing rather than in decline. The only other times a successful team has been passed down have been through the renowned boot room succession of Kenny Dalglish, Joe Fagan, and Bob Paisley.

Similar to how many were shocked to learn of Klopp’s exit, Alonso’s many supporters will eventually accept that he won’t be seated in the home dugout at Anfield anytime soon. Liverpool has moved on, and curiosity over their potential new manager has only grown. However, time is running out.

Recent Liverpool manager searches and the three main attributes they are looking for

While nobody wants to consider life without Jurgen Klopp, the club is forced to consider such options as they look for his replacement, and three names keep coming up.

With 15 games remaining during Klopp’s tenure, Liverpool still has two Premier League and Europa League trophies up for grabs.

While everyone else concentrates on capping this campaign with a bang, the search for the next manager continues behind closed doors. He will leave the club in the best possible position.

As of right now, the former Red Alonso is still the front-runner to fill the position, followed by Xabi Alonso, Roberto De Zerbi of Brighton, and Ruben Amorim of Sporting.

They have a lot in common, and Liverpool “want a young manager who can grow at the club, and also someone who plays attacking football and has a strong personality,” according to Lewis Steele of the Mail.

They no longer require a revolutionary manager who can propel the team back to the top; instead, they need someone who can build on Klopp’s departure and propel Liverpool to even higher levels.

Liverpool is mindful of Alonso’s current work and will wait, but they “will fight” for him despite Germany’s conviction that he will be joining Bayern Munich.

Although there isn’t as much commotion around Richard Hughes as there is around Alonso or Amorim, the new sports director is a recognised admirer of De Zerbi’s work and tried to sign the Italian player some years ago at Bournemouth.

Since data will undoubtedly be used in Liverpool’s hunt, Amorim is a candidate to watch in that regard and is weighed highly.

De Zerbi holds the distinction of being the oldest at 44, yet all three fit the description of “young manager,” being no older than 45.

With 109 and 117 goals thus far this season, respectively, neither Alonso, 42, nor Amorim, 39, have seen their team lack goals; in contrast, Klopp’s Liverpool have 120 goals through ten games in 2023–2024.

Given the responsibilities a Liverpool manager will have to fulfil, the personality test will be equally crucial. However, comparing them to Klopp would be unfair because it would set an extremely unachievable bar.

It won’t be until the end of the season that the manager search is expected to make any substantial headway.

Liverpool fans can rejoice because a vital player will be back in the starting lineup next week.

The good news for Liverpool is that Ibrahima Konate is expected to start for France against Chile on Tuesday night.

L’Equipe claims that the centre back, who has been sidelined due to injury for the past few weeks, is prepared to play in the friendly.

The defender was substituted out during Liverpool’s Europa League first-leg match against Sparta Praha. Since then, he has missed a number of important games for the Reds, including their FA Cup loss to Man United last week.

Prior to their match against Brighton at Anfield on Sunday, Liverpool supporters will be eager to see him return in the starting lineup, but the French player must win against Chile first.

How significant is Ibrahima Konate to Liverpool?

Given that the match against Chile is merely a friendly, Liverpool supporters will be hopeful that Konate survives. The centre back, who has played in 32 games for the Merseyside team this season, is an important member of Liverpool’s team.

It is no coincidence that the Reds have only triumphed in one of the three games in which the 24-year-old defender has missed due to injury. Klopp prefers the 24-year-old to combine with Virgil van Dijk.

With a few difficult games remaining and the desire to cap off his tenure at Anfield as best he can, the German coach will need everyone healthy for the last stretch.

This weekend marks Liverpool’s return to Premier League action, but the search for the team’s next manager is still ongoing. Richard Hughes’s arrival as sporting director ought to help things along, but Xabi Alonso seems to be the team’s priority aim, so nothing has changed. A big change may also be coming from FSG, which is run by former Liverpool executive Michael Edwards. This is your summary of the most recent Liverpool news.

Alonso’s circumstances shift in light of Liverpool’s interest.

Jürgen Klopp is nearing the end of his term as manager of Liverpool, and Xabi Alonso is still the favourite to succeed him. With Bayer Leverkusen undefeated in all competitions this year, Alonso has led his team to the top of the Bundesliga.

Liverpool is reportedly looking at other options in case it is unable to convince Alonso to rejoin Anfield, and Bayern Munich is eager to name the Spaniard. Although the 44-year-old’s thoughts have reportedly altered due to his on-field performance, staying at Leverkusen hasn’t been ruled out, according to writer Fabrizio Romano.

He revealed to Caught Offside that, even before to Klopp’s announcement of his desire to quit Liverpool, Alonso was ‘evaluating his options’ at year’s end. It is claimed that Alonso’s circumstances have ‘totally transformed’ as his Leverkusen team continues to roll.

There are rumours that he wants no distractions from now until the season is over. Bosses at Leverkusen seem to feel the same way, and a decision over his future is not expected until the summer.

Michael Edwards and FSG aim for a French team?

Xabi Alonso's "situation changes," and FSG, the owners of Liverpool, are "in talks" to acquire a second team.

Owners of Liverpool, FSG, are rumoured to have initiated discussions about purchasing Toulouse in Ligue 1. Earlier this month, Michael Edwards, the former sporting director of the Reds, rejoined FSG as the company’s football CEO.

He will now be in charge of Liverpool, and he was instrumental in Richard Hughes’ selection as sporting director. Edwards, who had previously rejected FSG, stated that his desire to ‘acquire and control’ a second club played a significant part in his decision to accept the position.

He continued, “It was crucial that I returned with renewed vigour and energy, having fresh challenges and opportunities,” in a statement released by FSG. I think that in order to be competitive, the present football portfolio needs to be expanded and invested in.”

A plan to buy out Toulouse is reportedly in the works as FSG looks to expand into a multi-club network, according to Football Insider. Liverpool defeated the French team 3-2 away from home in their rematch in the Europa League earlier this season after winning 5-1 at Anfield.

The two teams are already associated; RedBird Capital, the principal owner of Toulouse, owns 11% of FSG, and Damien Comolli, the former head of the Reds, is the team’s president. Toulouse is only six points clear of the relegation spots despite being in 11th place in the standings right now.

Following Jurgen Klopp’s announcement that he will be leaving his position at the conclusion of the season, Liverpool is looking for a new manager, and Xabi Alonso, the manager of Bayer Leverkusen, has been strongly connected to the position.

Amidst the international break, Liverpool is intensifying their preparations for the upcoming season, given that Jurgen Klopp is expected to depart the team this summer.

A number of names have been connected to the opening for a new manager, which is being led by Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes. Two titles are still up for grabs, so Liverpool does have a lot to play for this season.

Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City are all separated by just one point in the Premier League, and the Reds will play Atalanta in the Europa League quarterfinals the following month. Here is Anfield’s most recent update.

    Alonso’s ‘decision’

Xabi Alonso is more “likely” to sign with Bayern Munich this summer than Liverpool, according to Sky Germany.

After making an impression as Bayer Leverkusen’s manager, Alonso has been strongly linked to both Bayern and Liverpool, who are both looking for a new manager. As they aim to win the championship for the first time in their history, his team is now ten points ahead of Bayern at the top of the Bundesliga.

Furthermore, the article states that if Alonso decides to leave Leverkusen, Bayern are “optimistic” about their ability to convince him to take over as manager and that he would “likely” choose them over Liverpool.

    Robertson becomes agitated

    Andrew Robertson

The Reds star Andrew Robertson was not pleased with Friday’s 4-0 thrashing of Scotland by the Netherlands.

“After the game, I’m feeling disappointed and angry,” Robertson cried out. “We are unable to perform the way we did when facing these formidable teams away. By the end, we’ve opened up totally. We walked off 4-0, which is fantastic.

It is not feasible for such to occur. It is necessary that we examine it. This cannot be continued. We’ve let in a good number of goals in the last two games. People who view such outcome will perceive it as biassed. We must examine it and resolve the issue.”

Sven-Goran Eriksson, a former manager of England, believes Liverpool will win the Premier League this year.

After managing a Liverpool legends team at Anfield on Saturday, Eriksson declared, “I think Liverpool will win the league.” “Unfortunately, they are unable to win the FA Cup. They are excellent football players. New players arriving, players I have never seen before.

“All of a sudden, they included them in crucial games. To do that, you must possess great bravery. That’s good to see. Given the calibre of the next players, Liverpool is and will continue to be great.”

    Teun Koopmeiners

This summer, Xabi Alonso might take over as manager of Liverpool under Richard Hughes. Additionally, he might negotiate for his heir to join the Reds’ playing roster.

When Richard Hughes starts working at Liverpool, he will have a lot on his plate. Arriving formally on June 1st, the new sporting director will have a long list of tasks to complete.

Of course, the first priority will be appointing a new manager to succeed Jürgen Klopp. Xabi Alonso is the overwhelming favourite, but Bayern Munich will undoubtedly pose a threat.

After that, Hughes’ job at Anfield will be to bring in the first players of the new era. He might already have one option in front of him.

By now, Liverpool supporters will be well acquainted with Teun Koopmeiners. Although a transfer has never happened, the Atalanta midfielder’s name has frequently appeared in transfer market rumours.

Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Liverpool has been keeping an eye on the former AZ Alkmaar player, but Juventus is equally determined to keep him in Italy. Atalanta would likely be seeking $54 million (£43 million/€50 million), albeit it’s possible that the player overplayed their hand.

Koopmeiners has acknowledged that he is interested in joining the Premier League and wants to go this summer. “Last year, Napoli showed definite interest. Ultimately, though, the two teams were unable to come to a consensus. I told Atalanta that I wanted to move in the upcoming summer,” he said to the De Telegraaf.

While my fiancée and I are enjoying our time in Italy, I could even put up with the wet days at select clubs in England. I’m hoping opportunities arise so I can consider it. If I claimed I was unaware of the interest Juventus and Premier League teams have shown in me, I would be lying.”

    Teun Koopmeiners

Liverpool’s interest in Koopmeiners, a Dutch international, may be taken seriously. With Netherlands captain Virgil van Dijk at Anfield, there’s no denying the Dutch influence. Pep Lijnders, Klopp’s assistant, was instrumental in the team’s purchase of Cody Gakpo. He is well-known for closely monitoring players from his native country, and Ryan Gravenberch joined him in the summer.

Thus, Lijnders will surely be familiar with Koopmeiners, who captained AZ Alkmaar and was a formidable force in the Eredivisie before relocating to Serie A, where he has once again shown promise. At the conclusion of the season, Lijnders and Klopp will undoubtedly part ways, but maybe Hughes will feel some of his impact.

Without a doubt, Koopmeiners is the kind of player who can contribute in the latter third. Importantly, though, he is also a versatile player for Liverpool in terms of tactics.

Koopmeiners excels when he has the ball and is most effective in a holding midfield role. However, he can also play in more advanced areas, much like Georginio Wijnaldum did.

Koopmeiners is gifted with exceptional technique, but he also possesses a special ability to hit the ball. In addition to his exceptional long ball distribution, which allows the midfielder to send defense-splitting passes across the pitch, he is also capable of hitting the target from long range.

Koopmeiners reminds me a lot of Xabi Alonso in terms of his technique and poise when handling the ball. If he were to join Liverpool, the Reds wouldn’t likely have had a player like that since the manager of Bayern Leverkusen.

Of course, another important component of Klopp’s strategy is the long ball. If Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, for example, were encouraged to make deep, penetrating passes to switch plays, Koopmeiners would be a perfect fit if that kind of style were to be used following Klopp’s departure.

After rebuilding last summer, midfield may not be a top priority for Liverpool, but nothing is off the table with a new manager in charge. Koopmeiners may prove to be Alonso’s midfield successor if he is appointed as the new manager.
