Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will take on a new challenge this summer after six memorable years at Anfield, helping Liverpool to numerous major honours.

Oxlade-Chamberlain joined the club from Arsenal in the summer of 2017 and after settling into his new home he shone with his exciting skills on the pitch and infectious personality off the pitch.

A midfielder with a license to assist in attack, his dribbling, acceleration, flair for a pass and ability to finish from long range quickly blossomed in a rapidly improving Liverpool side.

A superb long-range low shot sparked a thrilling 4-3 win over Manchester City in the Premier League and he netted another unstoppable goal as the same opponents were beaten in the Champions League quarter-finals.

But in brutal fashion, Oxlade-Chamberlain’s upward trajectory was cut short by a multiple knee injury sustained against AS Roma at Anfield. It would deprive him of the chance to compete in the European Cup final and rule him out for most of 2018-19.

“We’ll wait for him,” promised Klopp, and his rehabilitation was completed in time to make an exciting return to action in April 2019 and be part of the match squad as the Reds lifted the Champions League at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur at Madrid beat several times. weeks later.

“And to go on to win the Premier League this season, you couldn’t have wished things had gone better for us as a group, for the club, over the last three years.

“When you go from club to club you hope these things are possible, but of course it often doesn’t always work out as well as it did.”

A pre-season injury limited his availability during the following tenure – one played largely behind closed doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic – but he would feature regularly for much of the 2021-22 season, which saw a quadruple tilt.

Other winners’ medals came in the Carabao Cup and Emirates FA Cup, while Liverpool also finished second in the Premier League and Champions League.

Last summer Oxlade-Chamberlain suffered another tragedy in the form of a hamstring problem which cut short his pre-season and sidelined him for three months while making 13 appearances at his last season.

“I think ‘travel’ is the right word,” he said after receiving a moving farewell from the Anfield crowd and teammates last month.

“It was a journey, but I really enjoyed every minute of it. Of course, there were tough times, but there were also absolutely amazing memories and incredible times.
