The Brazilian Premier League defender says he’s open to joining Liverpool.

The defender for Nottingham Forest, Murillo, has stated in an open interview that he is open to joining any one of three Premier League teams, including Liverpool.
The Brazilian, who has only been at Forest for a year, has already made it known that he wants to play for “a big club” and that Liverpool is a team he “wouldn’t discard.”
The centre back for Forest, who played 34 times for the relegation-threatened team this season, has discussed how he views his current team as a stepping stone.
Murillo stated on the Benja Me Mucho podcast, according to liverpool.com: “I had the thought and the dream of playing in the Premier League.”
“I decided to go to Nottingham Forest, have a successful season, and then transfer to a major league team.”
“I was thinking about that. Manchester City is my choice, however considering their roster, it would be harder for me to start every game. “City and Arsenal are also competing for the Premier League title.”
The 22-year-old continued by mentioning Anfield as another possible location.
“I also wouldn’t rule out Liverpool,” he continued. “It would be a great chance for me to showcase my football skills in a major league.”
Thank you for not discounting us, Murillo, but before a transfer can take place, you must be desired by Liverpool, Manchester City, or Arsenal.
However, the Brazilian did mention that Chelsea had already expressed interest. There have also been earlier reports that Liverpool is “monitoring” the center-half.
Although it is known that Liverpool is searching for defenders during this transfer window, it is unclear if Murillo is a top priority for them.
Last summer, Forest invested roughly £15 million to get him as a young prospect from Corinthians. He started every week virtually right away.
His numbers don’t particularly stand out, as you might expect from a player on a team that is in danger of relegation, but he has shown improvement this season while dribbling the ball past opponents.
Sadly, though, he lacks strength in the air. Based on FBRef data, he has won 1.23 aerial duels per ninety minutes in the past year.
For that specific stat, he is among the bottom 10% of defenders in the top five leagues in Europe.
He was in the top three percent in one area where he excelled: clearances, as he produced 6.07 of them per 90.
However, some of that might be attributed to his always being on the defensive for his side. Because Virgil van Dijk plays higher up the pitch on average, he produced 3.97 clearances per 90.
Generally speaking, it doesn’t seem likely that Liverpool would give Murillo any thought right now.
The only conclusion that can be drawn from this interview is that, to the dismay of Forest supporters, he does not consider them to be “a big club.”
