Matheus Nunes of Wolves is the most recent player on Todd Boehly and Graham Potter’s shortlist of potential central midfielders, according to Chelsea transfer news.
Matheus Nunes, a star for Wolves, is of interest to Chelsea. The Portugal international joined Wolves last summer from Sporting CP for a club-record £42.2million, and if they approve a transfer in 2023, they’ll probably demand more.
Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia have already signed with Mauricio Pochettino this summer. While Liverpool appears to be out of the running, Manchester City has passed the Blues in the chase for Nunes.
So, let’s talk about football.
London has compiled all the information we have on Chelsea’s pursuit of the 24-year-old.
Man City presented a proposal.
Manchester City will reportedly submit a second offer after their initial offer of around £47 million for Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes was turned down, according to The Telegraph.
The Portuguese international is a target for Pep Guardiola as he tries to make a last-minute transfer before the deadline next week, but Wolves rejected the treble winners’ initial offer. Although the first bid, made on Thursday evening, was well below Wolves’ valuation, it is understood that City will make another offer.
Although Wolves removed a clause that would have allowed Liverpool to purchase Nunes in January of this year, the Reds are also big fans of the Brazilian player.
Nunes is now on Chelsea’s short list.
Graham Potter is in desperate need of a new midfielder joining Chelsea in 2023, preferably in January, with a number of Premier League options on the Blues’ radar.
According to The Telegraph, Matheus Nunes is now listed as one of Todd Boehly’s possible targets, along with Declan Rice of West Ham United, Moises Caicedo of Brighton, and Amadou Onana of Everton.
Liverpool position.
Although Jude Bellingham is probably the club’s top priority, Jurgen Klopp is another Premier League manager who needs to oversee a midfield rebuild. However, a number of other names are on their list as well.
One of them is Matheus Nunes, who might be the ideal Jordan Henderson replacement, but according to Sky Sports, it is unlikely the Reds will make a move this month and a summer enquiry is much more likely.
Nunes recently said: “I put more pressure on myself because I want to be the best, but I don’t think I did enough,” according to the Wolves’ official website.
The desire to reach my goals has returned. I want to improve from where I was in the previous six months, and I anticipate doing so during the first half of 2023.
