Three incidents on Arne Slot’s first day as a star request transfer from Liverpool
Share
Today was the official start of Arne Slot’s tenure as Liverpool’s manager. The main stories of the day include the demand from a defender to go on a transfer this summer.
In all likelihood, Arne Slot has been considering his next career move for some time. But as of right now, the Dutchman has started working as the head coach of Liverpool.
This summer has a lot of issues to resolve, and the process can now officially start. Finalising transfers, contracts, and other matters is necessary, however it can only be done at this point when Slot has his feet under the table.
On Slot’s first day at Liverpool, we saw and heard nothing from him, but during the day, a few stories came to light. With them all, Liverpool.com has you covered.
Jurgen Klopp spotted in the Champions League final
Prior to the start of Real Madrid vs. Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League final at Wembley, former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was spotted in the stands. Dortmund supporters cheered as they saw his face on the large screens inside the stadium. They booed as Jose Mourinho entered the pitch. When Klopp returned, the crowd cheered once again!

Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi had a few early opportunities, but Real Madrid inevitably grabbed control of the game. After Dani Carvajal scored an unexpected goal off a Toni Kroos corner, Vinicius Jr. sealed the win for the Spanish team. Real Madrid has already won the Champions League 15 times, which is a record. Just Carvajal has six victories.
Sepp van den Berg requests a move.
Liverpool must grant Sepp van den Berg’s request to leave this summer. The 22-year-old Dutchman said that the Reds’ demand for $25 million (£20 million/€23 million) for his talents was unreasonable and that he should be moved since he wants to play regularly in the first team, like he did at Mainz. This information initially surfaced via The Athletic.
He said to the Dutch publication De Telegraaf, “You [Liverpool] didn’t radiate confidence in me all this time, but you do want to hinder my future.” “I want to continue improving myself and playing every week. I like playing against teams like Dortmund with 70,000 guys, Bayern Munich versus Harry Kane, Stuttgart, Leipzig, and Leverkusen in Germany because I always face a challenge from such teams.”
Slot gained insight on what to anticipate going forward at Liverpool from this. Maintaining equilibrium with a team as deep as the Reds’ is challenging, and the sums of money associated with possible additions are far higher than he is accustomed to.
Slot will still need to make adjustments even though the economic side of things will be handled by people like Michael Edwards and the backroom crew. There will always be something for him to react to.
Anthony Gordon admits to Liverpool.
Anthony Gordon, a forward for Newcastle United and a former Everton player who has recently been linked to a move to Liverpool, acknowledged that the atmosphere at Anfield is the best he has ever played in. Fans of his previous job are not pleased with it at all, but it will further fuel rumours that the Reds are considering a transfer.
When asked about the best atmosphere he had played in during his career thus far, he responded, “Other than St. James, it’s Anfield by far,” on Channel 4’s TikTok account. “I believe that I grew up watching it because I am from a metropolis. I simply believe that the song “You’ll Never Walk Alone” before the game is the best. It’s really excellent.”
