Thuram, a target for Liverpool, might depart this summer.

Khephren Thuram, who was a transfer target for Liverpool, could leave OGC Nice this summer, according to Get French Football News, which received confirmation from OGC Nice’s sporting director Florent Ghisolfi.

This summer, the France midfielder has been frequently linked with a transfer to Liverpool, and it was claimed that Jurgen Klopp’s team and Thuram have already reached an agreement on personal terms.

Following his outstanding performances for Nice last season, he is regarded as one of the top midfielders in France. He made 48 appearances across all competitions and contributed to 10 goals, which helped them finish ninth in Ligue 1.

Thuram was a standout performer for France at the European Under-21 Championship this summer in Georgia and Romania, where they advanced to the quarterfinals.

Get French Football News reports that although Liverpool have not yet initiated negotiations with Nice regarding the transfer of Thuram, they may do so soon given the departures of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, as well as the upcoming start of the Premier League.

While Nice is eager to hold onto their best players, Ghisolfi claims that the 22-year-old and teammate Jean-Clair Todibo are drawing interest from a number of clubs. The director acknowledges that a transfer ‘could happen’ this summer, despite Nice’s desire to keep their best players.

“Thuram and Todibo are sought after. Although we never committed players, we hope to keep all of our important players. A departure could take place if everyone is satisfied, according to Ghisolfi, as quoted by Get French Football News.

According to the report, Thuram’s contract with the club has two years left, and the Ligue 1 team is asking for between £34 and £43m (€40-€50m) to sign him.

The Reds will make an improved offer of around £42.5m guaranteed fee plus £2.5m add-ons in the hopes that the newly relegated team will accept the offer after the Saints rejected their initial offer. Chelsea will make a counteroffer, though.

Liverpool will need to keep their options open because the Blues are willing to sabotage the transaction. Thuram would be a less expensive choice than Lavia given Southampto’s £50 million asking price for the 19-year-old.

The 26-year-old is rumored to be eager to establish himself in Spain, but if he were to transfer to the Premier League, he would only be interested in signing with a “Big Six” club.

This summer, Kessie has been heavily linked to a number of clubs, including Liverpool. According to a Daily Mail report from last month, Liverpool was considering making a £30 million offer to entice Kessie to Anfield.

Romeo Lavia appears to be a target for the Reds this week, but if Fabinho and Jordan Henderson are both able to sign with Saudi Arabia, the Reds may still look to add another midfielder.
