This summer, Chelsea is reportedly in talks to bring in a new midfielder as they look to upgrade that area of the field.

We recently had the Manuel Ugarte saga, in which Chelsea was vying for the Sporting Lisbon defensive midfielder but fell short to PSG. Romeo Lavia, a defensive midfield starlet for Southampton, is now the focus of Chelsea’s attention, at least as a potential replacement.

We do not anticipate Chelsea to add just one new midfielder this summer, as Mauricio Pochettino will be looking to rebuild in that position, of course depending on departures.
