Who should start at left-back for Liverpool against Toulouse?

Jurgen Klopp returned to action on Thursday when Toulouse arrived at Anfield.
But how should Manchester United prepare for a Europa League tie?

There is little rest for Liverpool as they return to a midweek/weekend schedule and will now look to build on their excellent start to their European clash with Toulouse.

It was easy for Klopp to switch teams in this match, but he had to deal with numerous injuries and selection dilemmas.

France enter Group E with the second highest record (4 points) and Klopp will not underestimate Liverpool’s opponents.

The left-back conundrum then, who is your choice for the XI?

The left-back conundrum then, who is your choice for the XI?

DAVID: I know there have been calls for Joe Gomez to challenge for that position, but he looks set to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back, so he’ll definitely start there.

That leaves room for an academy graduate to slot in at left-back and, based on Sunday’s under-21 performance, Luke Chambers should be dropped.

Like Jarell Quanza, he was sent off after 45 minutes in the 1-1 draw with Benfica at Kirkby.
This means he is set to make his first senior start.

To me, this seems like the right decision, as his impressive looks set him up better than other potential alternatives for the transition to men’s football.
He’s also a very good player and I’m glad he got this opportunity.

JOANNA: Without Andy Robertson, who was kicked out after a few hours on Saturday, we wouldn’t have had the best picture of what was to come.

But I’d like to take another look at Tsimikas at left back. Looking at the upcoming games, it may ask more of him, but a pre-planned change with young prospects Calum Scanlon or Chambers may be the best option for that.

Let’s hope this game gives Costas confidence and gives Scanlon or Chambers a taste of senior football at Anfield.

The left-back conundrum then, who is your choice for the XI?

Jack: Too bad Conor Bradley isn’t available yet.
Because these games will be good to supplement Trent and his absence will have a big impact elsewhere.

Personally, Gomez should be the first choice left tackle over Tsimikas, but I don’t think it will happen.

There is a problem with using a left-back in this match, but as David pointed out, a right-back is needed.

Scanlon had more to look forward to against Benfica, but Chambers is a younger player who is more ready for the first team.
He is my choice.

So far, a European team has started, but will it be Alisson or Kelleher in goal?

The left-back conundrum then, who is your choice for the XI?

DAVID: Now that Caoimhin Kelleher is fully fit, he has to come.

The Irishman is too good a player to waste a season on the bench and these group stage matches are a great opportunity for him to gain some much needed experience.

Like other teams, it will be an even tougher choice for Liverpool if they advance to the playoffs, but so far it is not easy.

JOANNA: Honestly, I go back and forth on this. I think Kelleher is very capable and I won’t bat an eye when he starts.
But in this case I would say Ali.

He played in two games with Brazil during the break and barely played in the game against Everton.
It’s refreshing and I’m sure it will help us add another clean sheet this season.

Jack: It has to be Kelleher.

We have seven games in 23 days.
Goalkeeping is not the most physically demanding role, but it still requires rotation.
The way the squad is structured, Klopp has the opportunity to go for Kelleher (Toulouse), Alisson (Forest), Kelleher (Bournemouth), Alisson (Luton), Kelleher (Toulouse) and Alisson (Brentford).

And another international discovery is joy.

Does the midfield pick itself or could there be a curveball?

Does the midfield pick itself or could there be a curveball?

DAVID: To be honest, I think it’s a game of choice. Curtis Jones and Wataru Endo are currently out of the Premier League squad but should be retained if called up.

With how impressive Harvey Elliott has been this season, how can you stop him from starting? He had one more chance.

JOANNA: Looks like an easy pick considering Curtis Jones is suspended for Sunday’s game.
It’s hard to see the midfield as anything other than Endo, Elliott and Jones.

The first two have been permanent members of the middle of the rotation and it’s good to provide those links as they will always be needed this season.

Does the midfield pick itself or could there be a curveball?

Jack: I agree.
This is definitely an opportunity for Endo.

While Jones is an absolute certainty given his afternoon off in the league, Elliott’s form should be recognized by both club and country.
I would like to see Gravenbirch again.
He is a very fun player to watch.
But like Mack Allister and Soboslay, he will be needed this weekend.

How many changes should Klopp make and which team will he pick?

Does the midfield pick itself or could there be a curveball?

Jack: For me, a lot depends on the fit of each cloth.

If he’s ready to start, we saw it coming because Jota ran 90 in the derby and Diaz was knocked out after a party.
Even without him, we could see at least nine changes, with Alisson, Trent, Konate, Van Dijk, Tsimikas, Mack Allister, Soboslai, Gravenberch and Jota dropping out.

Kelleher; Gomes, Matip, Kwanza, Chambers; Endo, Elliott, Jones; Salah, Diaz, Nunes

JOANNA: Expect at least seven changes, including the addition of Joel Matip, Jarrell Kwanza and Joe Gomez in defense and the return of Nunes to the starting line-up.
This will be the same forward line that we saw last time against Union SG when we saw a change at half time and I expect the same this time.
If physical strength allows, Gakpo is one of them!

Allison; Gomes, Matip, Kwanza, Tsimikas; Endo, Elliott, Jones; Salah, Jota, Nunes

Does the midfield pick itself or could there be a curveball?

DAVID: 11 changes in this competition Klopp needs to make a difference every chance he gets.

While this is about avoiding fatigue, it’s worth noting that this is Klopp’s deepest Liverpool squad.

So rotation is essential to keep everyone happy.
With that in mind, I’m going with a completely new starting 11 for this season.
Of course, the only question mark is whether Ben Doak is fit.
Kelleher; Gomez, Matip, Quança, Dictionary; Endo, Elliot, Jones; Doak, Nunez, Gakpo
