Although Liverpool hasn’t made any moves in the summer transfer window, there are rumours that Arne Slot may sign his first player before taking command of his first match.

Liverpool’s transfer window has started poorly, since there haven’t been any fresh additions to signal the beginning of a new era at Anfield yet.

Now that the hectic international summer is over, Arne Slot will meet every member of his current squad in the upcoming weeks. He now has his feet under the table. This summer, the new head coach has already put in a lot of work with players like Andy Robertson, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Mohamed Salah.

However, Slot would benefit from having some new players join the mix in addition to welcome back veterans like Virgil van Dijk, Alexis Mac Allister, and Trent Alexander-Arnold. There won’t be much time for him to do this before he leads his team on their first preseason tour to the United States.

Next week, Liverpool will go to the United States to play Real Betis on July 27, Arsenal on August 1, and Manchester United on August 4. On August 11, they will return to Anfield to play Sevilla. The Reds will presumably know whether or not they have signed their first player of the summer by the time of the first of those games.

When Liverpool plays Betis later this month, it should know, according to Caught Offside, if its pursuit of Wolves player Rayan Ait-Nouri has been effective.

The Reds are reportedly still considering the Algerian international, and Chelsea and Manchester City are also contenders. According to rumours, Ait-Nouri is willing to leave Molineux for a deal that is deemed “acceptable” in terms of both the deal’s parameters and duration.

For the left-back, Wolves are hoping to get at least $49 million (£38 million/€45 million). Although none of the three clubs have taken action yet, the report indicates that representatives have contacted one another in an attempt to obtain additional information.

According to Liverpool.com, while it wouldn’t be the end of the world if Liverpool couldn’t acquire a player or two before leaving for the US, it would be ideal. Slot hasn’t spent much time with his team because of the hectic international summer, and it will take him a few more weeks to bring some of his star players back.

Ait-Nouri would be an intriguing addition, but considering that Liverpool also has Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas at left-back, it could be difficult to justify paying that kind of money. The Wolves star would be worth a look if the latter decides to move on shortly.
