Salah ‘shocks’ Liverpool with ‘surprise’ European offers and ‘betrayal’ claims

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is reportedly considering a move to another European club this summer, given that Liverpool has been slow to offer him a new contract.
Salah’s goal in the 3-0 victory over Manchester United marked the first time in his eight seasons at Liverpool that he scored in the opening three matches of the season. Despite not receiving a renewal offer yet, Salah, who has set a Liverpool record by scoring 20 or more goals for seven consecutive seasons, is on track to extend this streak.
Over a year ago, Saudi Arabian club Al Ittihad made a £150 million bid for Salah, which Liverpool rejected. Although there was speculation during the recent summer transfer window, concrete interest was minimal. Now, rumors are swirling about whether Salah will sign a new deal or leave on a free transfer next June.
Recent reports suggest that Salah is not interested in moving to the Saudi Pro League after seeing former Liverpool teammate Sadio Mane’s experience there. The Liverpool Echo also mentioned that Salah would like to sign a new contract with Liverpool before the season ends.
Following Liverpool’s win at Old Trafford on Sunday, Salah expressed frustration about the lack of contract discussions, stating, “Nobody in the club talked to me yet about contracts so I was just like, ‘OK, I play my last season and see at the end of the season.’”
However, Spanish reports now claim that Salah may ‘betray’ Liverpool, with ‘two offers in Europe’ reportedly emerging. Salah’s potential departure has ‘shocked Liverpool,’ and he ‘does not rule out staying in Europe and competing against the club where he has excelled for nearly a decade.’
Liverpool’s failure to secure Salah’s future has attracted interest from major European clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus.
Despite Salah turning 33 next June, Jamie Carragher does not think age will hinder him. Carragher commented, “I’m not sure it will be his last year. I think Mo Salah is a little bit like (Cristiano) Ronaldo. Most footballers think 35 is the time to finish. I think Mo Salah will be looking at his late 30s and winding down then in his head.”
Carragher added, “He will be looking at breaking every record he possibly can, either in the Premier League or Liverpool. I find it very difficult to see Mo Salah in the Saudi League next season.
He is playing that well at one of the biggest clubs in the world. There are a lot of wingers with more medals, but few with his quality and goal-scoring numbers. He is right up there alongside Ronaldo as the best winger we’ve seen in the Premier League.”
