Fabrizio Romano discusses what he is “100% sure” about Anthony Gordon of Newcastle and Liverpool

Liverpool appears to be gearing up for a big summer transfer window final month. The Reds have been eerily silent thus far, but as August approaches, it seems like something big is about to happen.
Arne Slot has now had three complete games, one of which was against elite Premier League competition, to determine what needs to be added to his Liverpool roster.
It’s possible the head coach decides he’s content with the team he has now. That would make sense after Liverpool’s players gave some strong displays against Arsenal on Thursday.
It appears, nevertheless, that Liverpool will add two or three players in the upcoming weeks. Journalist Fabrizio Romano provides an intriguing morning update on Anthony Gordon in light of this.
Anthony Gordon is still a target for Liverpool.
On Wednesday, Reds supporters had a renewed sense of excitement upon learning that Liverpool had scheduled Gordon for a medical examination in June.
The Reds and Newcastle reportedly reached an agreement on a sum of £75 million, and Joe Gomez was scheduled to leave for £45 million.
However, the Magpies terminated the agreement since Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh’s sales ultimately resolved their PSR issues.
With Gordon’s head turned by Liverpool, Gomez is currently in limbo as he gets ready to resume training, and it appears like the deal is far from done.
Reds fans are holding out on any new information with patience, but transfer specialist Romano said on his Daily Briefing that Gordon is still “100%” appreciated by Liverpool.
The reporter responds, “I’m getting a lot of questions about the Anthony Gordon guys, but all I was told was that Liverpool talked about a few possible swap deals in June, not the exact values that have been mentioned elsewhere in the media.”
“I’m not sure if the reported numbers are accurate, but Gordon was wanted by Liverpool and they still have interest in him because they think he’s a great winger,” Romano continues.
“I’m positive that Gordon will continue to be appreciated; let’s see what Liverpool does this month.”
Will Anthony Gordon be signed by Liverpool?
Liverpool has been playing under a pretty relaxed schedule this summer. Gordon, though, is the one guy that has generated a lot of talk.
It seems inevitable that the Reds will end up with him when they sink their claws into a player like him and determine he is the one they want.
The primary area of contention in this situation is undoubtedly Newcastle’s desire to keep Gordon. That’s all well and good, but the Magpies also made the grave error of suggesting to the player that they would be willing to sell, even to his childhood team.
Gordon is eager to join Liverpool, and the Reds are eager to have him, so it seems likely that this will happen eventually.
That’s a whole other story, though, whether or not that happens this year. But every Liverpool fan will be praying that it is during the course of the next thirty days.
