If Liverpool confirms the $65 million transfers of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, three things will undoubtedly occur.
Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, two midfielders for Liverpool, are reportedly being courted by Saudi Arabia for high-profile transfers that would be a watershed for Jürgen Klopp.

Jordan Henderson and Fabinho are now top transfer targets for the Saudi Pro League, which could lead to a much larger midfield change at Liverpool than originally anticipated.

The Daily Mail reported that Henderson has been offered up to $915k (£700k/€820k) per week, and The Athletic reported this morning that a $52m (£40m/€47m) bid for Fabinho is being prepared. Should they decide to move and accept the enormous salaries on offer, it’s possible that both players could leave.

According to Fabrizio Romano’s tweets, Liverpool would demand $13 million (£10 million/€12 million) from Henderson, giving them a total of $65 million (£50 million/€58 million) if the transfers happen. But where would that leave the Liverpool rebuild? For one thing, it would leave Jürgen Klopp short on bodies, making more incomings in the center of the pitch crucial.

Although the Saudi league has recently made a lot of noise, this would be on an entirely different level. This isn’t Cristiano Ronaldo leaving for the Middle East in search of one last lucrative contract, N’Golo Kanté leaving Chelsea, or Rben Neves being snatched up from a mid-table midfielder.

Fabinho is only 29 years old, while Henderson is an important player for Liverpool and England. The former AS Monaco player still has a long career ahead of him and, given the situation, would enter the new season as the Reds’ lone senior holding midfielder by natural birth.

In the next day or two, it should be clear which way the transfer deals will go and what Liverpool needs to do next, in a development that could change the course of football forever. Here is a look at what Liverpool . com predicts “definitely” will occur should the double exit occur.

Rumor Spreading: Liverpool and Lavia Agree on Personal Terms. We need two new signings.

Roméo Lavia is one of the options Liverpool is considering should another player leave this summer, but even he won’t be sufficient if both Fabinho and Henderson leave.

The situation with players like James Milner and Naby Keta, who have already left for free at the end of their contracts, is different here because Fabinho and Henderson made 92 appearances between them in all competitions last season.

The midfielders remaining in Liverpool’s lineup without Fabinho and Henderson are Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, Thiago Alcantara, Tyler Morton, and Stefan Bajeti.

To close the gap, additional experience would be needed. To fill the minutes and keep the Reds from running out of options, more bodies are required.

New captain appointed.

Liverpool would lose its club captain if Henderson left. A new player would have to be chosen for the position, with vice-captain Virgil van Dijk (who has worn the armband numerous times) possibly being the clear favorite.

Trent Alexander-Arnold would also be able to make a case and has previously been open about wanting to pursue that goal. The 24-year-old will undoubtedly contribute significantly to Liverpool’s team for many years to come.

Liverpool has a lot of leaders on the field, including national team captains like Szoboszlai, Mohamed Salah, and Andy Robertson, but losing Henderson and Milner in a single summer would be a big loss given the expertise of Fabinho.

No repeat of 2022–2023.

Liverpool’s midfield struggled mightily at times during the previous campaign, and its opponents frequently overran it. But now that a complete overhaul is feasible, that ought to be eliminated.

Younger players can take the place of aging ones, provided they have the necessary experience to compete at the highest level.

If it becomes necessary, replacing Henderson and Fabinho simultaneously would mean starting the upcoming season with a nearly entirely different Liverpool midfield lineup, whether on purpose or by accident.

This could be a watershed event that alters the course of Klopp’s remaining tenure at Liverpool in a summer of significant transitions. The only member of the Liverpool squad still in place from before Klopp took over is Henderson, but that may soon change.
