Football Insider say the Reds have activated the Argentinian’s release clause and agreed personal terms as they prepare to make the midfielder their first signing of the summer.

Following reports earlier this week that the father of Brighton midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has traveled to Merseyside to finalize the deal for his son’s move to Liverpool, Football Insider reported today that the move is almost business suit.

FI quoted unnamed sources as saying that Liverpool today activated Mac Allister’s release clause with an offer of between £55-60m and have now also concluded negotiations with the Argentinian on personal terms. If the report is true, Liverpool are willing to triple their wages in an offer of £150,000 a week.

Coverage of this possible signature still comes largely from less credible sources, but it really does feel like this is one of those “where there’s smoke, there’s fire” situations.

Mac Allister’s Instagram post today appears to be a farewell without saying goodbye to Brighton and Seagulls manager Roberto de Zerbi has admitted he expects the midfielder to leave this summer .

Add to that the fact that current rumors suggest Liverpool are almost done with things and there aren’t any other potential landing spots that get much attention, it looks like Mac’s transfer Going to Liverpool is more a question of when than of ob.
