Return of Khéphren Thuram,'super offer' denied - Reasonable final week of transfers for Liverpool
Liverpool like the look of Nice midfielder Khéphren Thuram but there are other areas of the pitch that need to be addressed before the deadline.

Time is running out for Liverpool in the transfer window. With just seven days to go, Liverpool are approaching the same situation as last year, on deadline day when the Reds rushed to sign Arthur Melo on loan.

This time around, however, Liverpool cannot afford to make the same mistake, and neither can the Reds. There is a sensible path to take in the final week. Khéphren Thuram is a player who has been on the club’s radar all summer and he is still available and on the market as Nice seem ready to let him go.

Nice sporting director Florent Ghisolfi spoke to the press on Friday during the presentation of the new signings of Jérémie Boga and Morgan Sanson and was asked about the club’s departures, in particular Thuram and Jean-Clair Todibo during the past month.

“Thuram and Todibo are in high demand. We hope to keep all our key players, but we have never matched any player. If all parties are satisfied, an exit could take place,” Ghisolfi replied, according to France Bleu Azur. That situation doesn’t appear to have changed and with Thuram being the sort of player capable of playing as a number eight and number six, it would be wise for Liverpool to sign him this summer to help rebuild the club’s midfield under Jurgen Klopp.

However, this is not the only way for Liverpool to ensure a reasonable end to the transfer window.

As speculation around Mohamed Salah mounts, one of the key transfer decisions the club will have to make this summer is the decision to keep him at Anfield.

According to Sportitalia and Sport Witness, state-owned All-Ittihad are ready to make a “super offer” to Liverpool and Salah to lure him to Saudi Arabia.

This is a report that can no longer be ignored. Things are heating up around Salah, and given the way Saudi Arabia ramped up hiring over the summer, nothing is off the table. After all, All-Ittiera already managed to lure a Liverpool player to Fabinho this summer.

Now players like Neymar are also moving and continuing their careers in the country.

If All-Ittihad returns for Salah, it will be an offer Liverpool are unlikely to be able to refuse. But the club must do just that. There is currently no one on the market who could replace the Egyptian winger. Salah is the team’s most indispensable player, not only in terms of his quality on the pitch as one of the best players to ever wear the red shirt, but also off the pitch with his role model and mentality of leadership within the FA Zimmer.

There will be a time in the future when Salah gets into new targets and maybe Saudi Arabia will be a topic of conversation. But Liverpool can’t even consider considering that possibility this summer.

Salah simply needs to stay at Anfield, Liverpool’s transfer window success depends on it. Keep him and sign Thuram, and the Reds will have a reasonable, if not successful, last week in the transfer market.

News – Liverpool hit as Man Utd strike £29m deal to sign Reds target – report

During the January transfer window, The Telegraph revealed that the Merseysiders have already agreed to land the Portugal international in a £44m deal this summer. Moreover, Anfield Watch exclusively reported a week ago that the Reds are finally looking to sign the 24-year-old star.

However, according to the latest media reports, Nunes has agreed to join Man City who are keen to strike a deal with Wolves in a bid to get them over the finish line.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Premier League champions have already agreed personal terms with the Seleccao star and submitted an initial offer of over €50m.

However, according to the latest update from Portugal, there is unlikely to be enough supply.

According to today’s version of O Jogo, the West Midlands club agreed a €45m entry fee and €5m top-up to sign Nunes from the Lions last summer. Now they want minimum compensation of €70m (£60m) to part with their prized possession.

Nunes scored just one goal and one assist in the Premier League last season and Manchester City want him to replace the injured Kevin de Bruyne, who directly contributed to 41 goals in the treble season.

Liverpool have seen several midfield goals move elsewhere this summer and it now appears the 11-man Portuguese will eventually move to the Etihad.
