Roberto De Zerbi, a target for Liverpool, expresses his feelings after speaking with Bayern Munich

Prior to the summer break, Brighton head coach Roberto De Zerbi is being courted by Bayern Munich and Liverpool, but the Italian has not made up his mind about his future.
Although the Italian coach Roberto De Zerbi is ‘flattered’ by Bayern Munich’s interest, he is not in a hurry to decide on his long-term future.
Since taking over for Graham Potter at Brighton in September 2022, De Zerbi, 44, has made a name for himself as one of the most promising young coaches in Europe. Unfortunately for the Seagulls, other teams have taken note of De Zerbi’s achievements in the Premier League, which include leading the team to its first-ever European campaign.
Many top teams are expected to be looking for a new head coach in the summer, and De Zerbi is being tipped to be a strong candidate for several positions, including one at Liverpool, which will be without Jurgen Klopp at the end of the current season.
Another team that has reportedly expressed interest in De Zerbi is Bayern Munich; Bild is now reporting that the German powerhouses have even had discussions with the Brighton manager. However, it should be mentioned that Xabi Alonso is still their top priority.
De Zerbi is likely to keep all of his options open and not make any decisions regarding his future, as further interest in his services is anticipated in the summer. Despite being ‘fascinated’ by the idea of replacing Thomas Tuchel at the Allianz Arena, De Zerbi is planned to proceed cautiously.
It’s interesting to note that Liverpool is apparently considering Alonso in addition to De Zerbi, who has been shortlisted for the forthcoming Anfield position. Michael Edwards, who is back, hired Richard Hughes as the new sporting director, and he will be in charge of selecting the best player to take over for Klopp.
Given his outstanding record at Bayer Leverkusen, it is believed that Alonso is also Liverpool’s top target. As Klopp’s tenure comes to an end, other coaches like De Zerbi and Ruben Amorim are still being considered by the team.
Uli Hoeness, the honorary president of Bayern Munich, recently acknowledged that the defending Bundesliga champions are making every effort to entice Alonso to return to his former haunts. Leverkusen is optimistic that the Spaniard will decline offers from two of his previous clubs in order to stay in his current position for the upcoming campaign.
“Clubs like Liverpool, Real Madrid, Leverkusen, and FC Bayern are working on it,” he said to Ran Sport. He has demonstrated his ability to be a successful coach.”
Like Klopp, Alonso has a chance to defeat Bayern Munich and win the domestic championship, as Leverkusen is presently leading the race. With ten games remaining in the season, Liverpool trails Arsenal in the Premier League title race, but only by a narrow margin due to goal differential.
