Romano discloses Liverpool phone conversation regarding £50 million deal on Friday after Reds fail “secret job”

Fabrizio Romano claims that after Chelsea submitted a revised offer on Friday, Liverpool called Southampton to discuss a potential trade for Romeo Lavia.
Liverpool made a move for Moises Caicedo, as reported, and Jurgen Klopp confirmed it in his press conference on Friday. A bid of approximately £110 million was reportedly accepted.
However, it was later discovered that the Ecuadorian player had told the Reds that “he only wants to join” Chelsea this summer, with the Blues preparing a new offer of their own.
In an effort to find at least one replacement for Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, both of whom left for Saudi Arabia earlier this summer, Liverpool has also been in a competition with Chelsea for Southampton midfielder Lavia, who is valued at £50 million.
The losses of Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and James Milner, who left on free transfers, were covered by the additions of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai earlier this summer.
Liverpool has made several offers to Southampton for Belgian international Lavia but they have all been rejected, and they now run the risk of losing out to Chelsea in the race for him as well.
Additionally, despite having so far been unable to meet Southampton’s asking price, according to transfer expert Romano, Liverpool are still interested in signing Lavia and last night made contact with the Saints.
“The Moises Caicedo saga has been just, if not more, crazy,” Romano wrote in his Caught Offside column on Friday. “The story of the day on Friday was Harry Kane to Bayern. Chelsea is currently in touch with Brighton to make another offer for Caicedo as of the time of writing.
So let’s wait for that action since it is very important. On Friday around noon, when it appeared that everything was in place for Caicedo to join Jurgen Klopp’s team, he made it very clear to Liverpool that he wanted to go to Chelsea.
“So that’s why Chelsea are now working on a club-to-club agreement after weeks of negotiations. Chelsea seemed to be certain that they would be the only ones working on this deal, but Liverpool did a great job on their “secret job.”. The player’s preference will always determine the outcome in the end.
“Chelsea also made a fresh offer to Southampton on Friday night for Romeo Lavia, but let’s wait for Caicedo’s conclusion before concluding that the 19-year-old’s story is over because Liverpool also called Southampton on Friday afternoon.
Liverpool has also been in the running all day, but Chelsea consider Lavia to be a separate deal from Caicedo. Southampton has made it clear that they will not sell Lavia for less than £50 million. “.

Moises Caicedo: Liverpool are still in contact with Brighton, but the Reds anticipate a Chelsea move for the midfielder.
Moises Caicedo is a highly sought-after midfielder, and Liverpool appear poised to set a transfer record to sign him, but Chelsea still seem to be in the driver’s seat.
Caicedo is valued at £100 million by Brighton, and Chelsea has rejected several offers, the most recent of which was for £80 million.
If Moises Caicedo’s transfer to Chelsea falls through, Liverpool and Brighton are still in talks about a possible deal.
The clubs have spoken about the financial details and payment schedule of a transfer as the Merseysiders consider authorizing the highest expenditure — by a wide margin — in their history.
Caicedo is valued by Brighton at around £100 million.
Chelsea’s failure to agree on a price after months of pursuing the midfielder prompted Liverpool’s tardy entry into negotiations. In the month of July, Brighton swiftly rejected their third offer of £80 million.
Given the length of time it took Chelsea to finalize a deal, Caicedo is anticipated to report to Mauricio Pochettino at Anfield.
Given the circumstances and their own protracted pursuit of Romeo Lavia of Southampton, Liverpool believes the 21-year-old is too good a player to pass up the opportunity to sign, even if it doesn’t work out.
Liverpool are prepared to move things along if there is no movement with Chelsea and Caicedo indicates he wants to play for Jurgen Klopp. Bayern Munich are also looking into a deal.
According to reports, the Ecuadorian international emptied his locker at Brighton five days ago and hasn’t been back since.
Since Caicedo has been persuaded to join Chelsea, who are now expected to step up their efforts to sign him, he is holed up in London waiting for a transfer to be finalized. This location is telling.
The preference of the player will determine how both clubs proceed, and Liverpool is ready to take action if they are given the required support.
Who will be moving this summer when the transfer window begins on June 14 and closes at midnight in Scotland and 11pm in England on September 1?
