Liverpool has chosen to make a player-plus-cash offer to Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon in an attempt to acquire him.

According to Teamtalk, the Reds are getting ready to make a £50 million offer for English winger Gordon, together with custodian Caoimhin Kelleher to join Newcastle.

Under manager Arne Slot, Liverpool are getting ready for a hectic summer transfer window.

This summer, the club intends to support the Dutchman in his efforts to make personnel changes to the team.

This summer, the Reds need to improve a lot of areas, especially their defence and attack.

Gordon, a winger for Newcastle United, has become a significant target for the Premier League’s biggest clubs.

Newcastle’s need to sell players in order to comply with Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules has piqued Liverpool’s attention.

Brighton has agreed to a contract for Yankuba Minteh, and the Magpies have chosen to let him go in order for Eddie Howe’s team to raise money and adhere to financial restrictions.

Newcastle’s plan may claim another casualty in Gordon, since the Reds are eager to get him.

After impressing Gareth Southgate with a strong Premier League season, the winger was chosen to represent England in the Euros this summer.

He is presently serving for his country. season the Premier League season 2023–24, Gordon contributed to 21 goals with 11 goals and 10 assists.

The midfielder is reportedly open to joining Liverpool, his old team Everton’s bitter rivals.

Gordon is set to receive a massive offer from Liverpool.

Liverpool has chosen to make a player-plus-cash offer to Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon in an attempt to acquire him.

Given that Liverpool values Kelleher between £25 and £35 million, any deal incorporating the goalie and the £50 million in cash is probably going to cost the Reds between £75 and £85 million.

Although Howe is keen to hold onto the quick winger, he could have to let him go.

Newcastle needs a new custodian to compete with first choice Nick Pope, so the Reds’ addition of Kelleher in the trade may help.

All sides would benefit from it, but the Magpies would be disappointed to lose a player of Gordon’s calibre.

RB Leipzig is interested in Liverpool midfielder as clubs are looking for summer transfer

    Hull City

The most recent transfer rumours from Liverpool indicate that 21-year-old Tyler Morton is drawing attention from across the continent for the summer.

According to reports, RB Leipzig and other European teams are interested in signing Tyler Morton, a midfield player for Liverpool, on a permanent summer transfer.

Morton, 21, a Wirral native, joined the Reds academy at the age of seven and appeared in nine first-team games under Jurgen Klopp. The last was in March 2022 and as roads into a regular starting berth are often restricted at Anfield, he has exploited Championship loans to get the majority of his senior experience to far.

His first term away from the club was with Blackburn Rovers, turning out 46 times for the Lancashire club, then last season he enjoyed playing a crucial position in the engine room of Liam Rosenior’s Hull City side, who nearly lost out on the play-offs. The Liverpool loanee’s achievements were rewarded when he scooped up the division’s young player of the month award in December.

Under new head coach Arne Slot, Morton is scheduled to return to Merseyside for preseason training. However, The Times reports that he may be traded soon after, as many prominent teams are reportedly interested in signing him to a long-term contract this summer.

Leading the charge is RB Leipzig, who have experience doing business with Anfield executives. The two teams worked out a £60 million deal for Dominik Szoboszlai last summer, and then they had a less than ideal loan experience with Fabio Carvalho.

Along with unidentified Premier League rivals, the article claims clubs “the calibre of Sevilla, Feyenoord, Eintracht Frankfurt” are also interested in the midfield player.

It is reported ‘nearly every’ Championship club would like to take Morton on loan for the season ahead also, yet it is now the player’s wish to advance his career at the next level. He last renewed his Liverpool contract in January 2023, and his exit is believed to hinge on the club’s evaluation of valuation, Slot’s perceptions once pre-season training is begun and lastly Morton’s own plans.

Liverpool was “just inches away” from acquiring Anthony Gordon when their exchange transfer scheme collapsed.

Newcastle and Liverpool have discussed a possible trade for Anthony Gordon as the Magpies want to earn money to comply with profit and sustainability regulations.

A contract for Anthony Gordon has been discussed by Liverpool and Newcastle as the latter rush to comply with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability regulations (PSR).

Newcastle is thought to have to complete deals by June 30 in order to avoid breaking the aforementioned regulations and perhaps losing points. In recent weeks, a number of players have been connected to transfers; however, no substantial outgoings have been finalised as of yet.

Gordon is one of the primary assets that Newcastle has ‘explored’ the idea of dumping, according to a recent article from The Mail. Mirror Football is aware that they made contact with Liverpool regarding Gordon; however, negotiations ceased when it was mentioned that Jarell Quansah might go the other way.

Liverpool still think highly of Gordon, but after Quansah’s outstanding season last year, they don’t want to lose him, so they won’t use him as leverage in a trade.

After speaking with their Premier League competitors, it is rumoured that the Reds finally opted against making an offer because of their position on Quansah, whom they see as a future England international.

Although Gordon, a lifelong Liverpool supporter, is content in Tyneside and loves collaborating with Eddie Howe, the 23-year-old is aware that discussions have taken place. Gordon, who joined Newcastle in January 2023, is also admired by the French powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain.

Gordon, who is presently travelling to Europe in 2024 with the England team, was named Newcastle’s Player of the Year the previous season following a fantastic rookie campaign in which he scored 11 goals and provided 10 assists in 35 league games.

Liverpool have a covert tool at their disposal in the Anthony Gordon transfer talks

Although Newcastle’s suggestion to trade Jarell Quansah for Anthony Gordon caused the initial negotiations to break down, the transfer may still be possible.

In case you were unaware, there are now two deadlines within the same summer transfer window for the Premier League.

Naturally, trading ends on August 30 at 11 p.m. throughout the entire day. However, top-tier teams are making June 30—this Sunday—a deadline more and more important as they try to make sure they haven’t gone over the £105 million cash-loss cap in the preceding three years.

Because of the point penalties Nottingham Forest and Everton received last season, there is increased attention on this occasion this year. It also explains why so few clubs in January were willing to make purchases.

Among them was Newcastle United, and it’s believed that they are still on the verge of reaching their deadline on Sunday. This is being presented as the rationale behind Liverpool’s bid for Anthony Gordon and the possibility that negotiations this weekend may continue, even though it appears Newcastle will need to initiate contact once more.

Given Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, and Luis Diaz as options on the left flank, Liverpool believes they are well-stocked there. The latter has reportedly been connected to an escape, however this has not yet been confirmed.

With three years remaining on his contract and merely a profit on the £50 million they spent for Diaz in January 2022, Liverpool does not appear to be in a haste to resolve his future. However, Gordon is certainly talented.

As a former player for Everton, he has also shown no shame in expressing his respect for Mohamed Salah and Steven Gerrard, two idols of Liverpool. Perhaps dropping breadcrumbs?

Liverpool have a covert tool at their disposal in the Anthony Gordon transfer talks

The issue for Newcastle is that Gordon is in Germany for Euro 2024 with England, making it more difficult to arrange the practicalities of a deal. However, there have been rumours that Liverpool was willing to hold a physical in Leipzig if negotiations had advanced.

In any case, Liverpool already has a strong ally in the area. During the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Trent Alexander-Arnold was called “agent Trent” by Reds supporters who urged him to entice Jude Bellingham to Anfield.

Although his “first mission” finally failed, the defender might be able to exert more influence over fellow Liverpudlian Gordon in order to open up a line of communication. Of course, this is all above board, and he must be cautious to avoid any charges of “tapping up.”

Having said that, it is certain that international teammates will communicate, and it is difficult to draw boundaries. Additionally, mid-tournament, Gareth Southgate has already stated that he is okay with his team talking about their club futures.

Kieran Trippier, a defender for Newcastle, might want to observe any conversations between Gordon and Alexander-Arnold. However, Liverpool’s attack is two-fold.

Gordon disclosed last month that, despite not being at the Euros, he is close friends with Curtis Jones from their time together playing for the England under-21 team.

Gordon has hinted that he might be amenable to a move to Liverpool nevertheless, but Alexander-Arnold and Jones might be able to help with rapid information dissemination with less than 36 hours till July left.

Dream Liverpool lineup for Premier League start following Luis Diaz's decision and three transfers

Liverpool now knows who it will play and when during the 2024/25 Premier League season. Arne Slot and his crew have a lot of work to do before then to prepare.

Liverpool will travel to Ipswich Town on the first weekend of the new Premier League season, with Arne Slot’s team given a favourable schedule to begin the season.

While there is a visit to Manchester United in the first few weeks, the first encounter against a potential title contender does not arrive until the end of October, when they travel to Arsenal. Meanwhile, Arne Slot will enjoy his team’s prospects in early games against Brentford and Nottingham Forest, both of whom visit Anfield.

However, before the next Premier League season begins, Liverpool must make several decisions. New contracts for Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold are still pending, and other large transfers are expected.

Luis Diaz is still connected with a move to Barcelona (and PSG has been mentioned as a possible destination if he leaves), but it remains to be seen whether anyone can put together a large enough transfer proposal to entice Liverpool. Before the next campaign begins, Slot requires greater offensive depth rather than less.

    Yankuba Minteh

Keeping this in mind, another step forward should be considered. Yankuba Minteh appeared to be a viable alternative before those links were downplayed, while Johan Bakayoko has also been mentioned as a possibility. Anthony Gordon, while extremely pricey, would be a terrific addition to the left wing if Diaz were to leave. Last month, the Daily Star named him as an option.

In an ideal world, Liverpool would be able to recruit a world-class holding midfielder two years after missing out on Aurelien Tchouameni and 12 months after paying $125 million for Moises Caicedo. However, the market for quality players in the No. 6 position appears to be restricted, with Stefan Bajcetic returning from injury.

The most pressing transfer need, however, is for a new centre back. Leny Yoro has expressed interest, but appears to prefer a move to Real Madrid, therefore Liverpool will need to find another option. Someone with a high ceiling who is experienced but young would be ideal, while there are plenty names floating around at the moment.

Even with a signing in each of those positions, the Liverpool team that starts the season away at Ipswich is unlikely to be a million miles apart from the one that finished the previous season. After all, wholesale adjustments are unnecessary.

Alisson Becker and his back four will most likely remain unchanged, even if Trent Alexander-Arnold is still regarded as a midfielder, with only a few alterations ahead of them. A world-class holding midfielder would be ideal, but there are currently no apparent names available. A new defender is essential, though they may not start right away, and another attacker would be excellent in an already well-stocked front line.

Possible Liverpool starting lineup vs Ipswich on the first day: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, new center-back, Van Dijk, Robertson; Elliott, new holding midfielder, Mac Allister; Salah, Jota, new forward (Gordon?).

‘I would be lying’: Anthony Gordon delivers another big Liverpool hint after transfer speculation.

    Anthony Gordon

Last month, Liverpool were linked with a summer transfer bid for ex-Everton player Anthony Gordon.

Anthony Gordon admits he has “more motivation” while playing against the side he grew up supporting.

The Newcastle United winger has been linked with a summer move to Liverpool and is thought to have grown up supporting the Reds, despite his recent Everton appearances.

Gordon began his career with the Reds but was released at the age of 11 to join Everton, their city rivals. Last January, he left the Blues for Newcastle in a £40 million move.

According to The Daily Star, Liverpool are interested in signing the England international this summer, but it would require “an offer close to £100 million to seriously test Newcastle’s resolve.”

Though he has yet to publicly affirm his passion for Liverpool, the 23-year-old has clearly hinted that he has been trying to prove a point when facing the Reds.

    Anthony Gordon

When asked by Sky Sports how he tackles games against the team he supported as a child, the winger replied, “It’s the same as any other match.” My preparation is consistent regardless of who I’m competing against. It is always at the peak of its performance. I’d be lying if I said there wasn’t greater motivation to simply show up and do well.”

Gordon did little to warm up to Liverpool supporters on his first visit to Anfield in April 2022, collecting a yellow card for diving in the first half and later collapsing inside the penalty area following minimal contact from Joel Matip. Gordon took to X (previously Twitter) following the match to voice his amazement at the verdict.

But, endearing himself to Reds fans in recent years, he picked Steven Gerrard as his favourite player growing up and Mohamed Salah as a source of inspiration for his playing.

Going one step further, the England international was recently asked to describe the best environment he has observed on the football ground. He told Channel 4: “Apart from St James’ Park, it’s Anfield by far. I believe I grew up watching it since I was raised in the city. It’s on point when they sing You’ll Never Walk Alone before the game.”

Liverpool are once again linked with a bid for Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise, after apparently moving on from a previous transfer target.

The Reds have yet to announce any fresh acquisitions ahead of the start of the summer transfer window later this month. However, rumours regarding who players Liverpool could sign to enhance their team persist.

Arne Slot, who replaced Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool’s new head coach, is still in the early stages of his tenure. Slot will begin evaluating his squad during pre-season training next month, after which he and the players will travel to the United States for three friendlies.

Before then, Liverpool is expected to be linked with many more players as the summer transfer market progresses. Olise is one such player, with Manchester United, Chelsea, and Arsenal all reportedly interested in him in recent weeks.

Liverpool transfer news: News of Anthony Gordon’s signing to Liverpool as a $34 million defender is “discounted”

    Leny Yoro (Lille)

The Reds are pursuing Newcastle star Anthony Gordon, and they may come to the table if the cost of a defender is lowered.

Liverpool is ready to start seriously preparing its transfers now that everything is set up. Arne Slot has taken over the top spot at Anfield, and the recruitment department has a fresh appearance.

Although Slot will not be in charge of making transfers, the team will eventually be put together to help the incoming coach achieve his goals. In the meanwhile, potential recruits know for sure who they would play for if they choose to make the move.

The important decisions may now begin to be taken by the Dutchman, Michael Edwards, new sporting director Richard Hughes, and others. It is said that a decision has already been made.

A defender’s asking price has reportedly dropped significantly in the interim, and the Reds are now very much in the running to sign him. This is Liverpool.com’s assessment of the transfer rumours that have been circulating about the Reds lately.

    Anthony Gordon – (Newcastle United)

Given that Manchester United’s surprising victory over Manchester City in the FA Cup final prevented Newcastle United from competing in the Conference, the team recently learned that it will not play in any European competitions the following season.

Undoubtedly, that is a blow to the Magpies’ accounts. Liverpool has apparently decided not to pursue Gordon, although Newcastle may be forced to surrender one or two major stars.

That’s what 90min says. Gordon has been a huge hit since leaving Everton, and the Reds have been linked to a spectacular big-money deal for him. The 23-year-old was once a member of Liverpool’s academy.

Although a wide midfielder or attacker is on Liverpool’s summer shopping list, the club believes that a deal for Gordon would be too costly and challenging to reach with Newcastle. But according to reports, Leeds United’s Crysencio Summerville might be given serious consideration.

According to Liverpool.com, Liverpool may yet choose to strike if Newcastle’s financial condition worsens to the point where they are unable to comply with Premier League spending regulations. However, unless there was a fire sale situation, signing Gordon always appeared unlikely.

Now that Edwards is back in the mix, Liverpool will probably want to draw in a Gordon-type of clientele a level or two ahead of time. His price has skyrocketed since moving to St James’ Park, therefore the Reds will be searching for someone who can make the same kind of progress at Anfield. It is debatable if Summerville meets that criteria.

    Leny Yoro – (Lille)

    Leny Yoro (Lille)

Liverpool is one of the main contenders for Lille defender Leny Yoro’s signing. After securing a regular starting position in Ligue 1, the 18-year-old has grown to become one of the most sought-after young stars around.

Because of his rapid rise to fame, L’Equipe stated in January that it might require up to $99 million (£78 million or €91 million) to persuade Lille to sell. However, by the summer, that position is said to have softened considerably, with a sizable ‘discount’ on offer.

Around $65 million (£51 million/€60 million) would be sufficient, according to RMC Sport, to acquire Yoro’s services. Real Madrid and PSG, the winter suitors, are still interested, but Liverpool is also eager to close the transaction.

According to Liverpool.com: This appears like a transaction Liverpool is more inclined to pursue at this ‘discounted’ price. Yoro is a young, bright, and highly accomplished individual who meets all the requirements.

The main uncertainty is whether Liverpool will prevail in the competition to recruit him. It has recently lost an excessive number of transfer clashes with Real Madrid. However, the defence appears to be in fine form going forward if it can win this game.

  • Anthony Gordon’s transfer to Liverpool appears to be making sense.

Anthony Gordon’s transfer to Liverpool appears to be making sense.

    Anthony Gordon

Anthony Gordon, a winger for Newcastle United, is reportedly attracting interest from Liverpool, but is that really as unlikely as it seems?

Yards can be used to measure the separation between the two locations. However, there are relatively few players that have gone straight from Everton to Liverpool. Quite brief, in fact.

Most definitely in the Premier League era, when at the beginning of the new millennium both Nick Barmby and Abel Xavier moved from Goodison to Anfield. That’s all, though. And for such a transfer to be finished before then, you have to go all the way back to Dave Hickson in 1959.

Barmby and Xavier were both short-lived at Liverpool; the former made 58 games before moving on to Leeds United, while the latter only made 21 appearances in 11 months.

And as a result, there hasn’t been much hunger for such transactions, though it’s true that the current disparity in quality between the different Merseyside squads has diminished the desire for a cross-Stanley Park trade, at least partially.

Still, given the current situation, it would be exceedingly difficult, if not outright impossible, for a player to go straight from Everton to Liverpool. Most of the time, the hassle would not be worth it. especially for an indigenous talent.

Which leads us to Anthony Gordon, a winger for Newcastle United now, a former Blue, who the Reds may be interested in this summer.

Gordon’s unquestionable quality and Liverpool connections make it a no-brainer that the Liverpool recruitment staff, overseen by sports director Richard Hughes and new Fenway Sports Group head of football Michael Edwards, will be evaluating him. The 23-year-old will undoubtedly be known to new boss Arne Slot.

Naturally, Gordon has always been a supporter of Liverpool, having begun his youth career there before moving to Everton at the age of eleven after being cut loose by the Reds. Additionally, Liverpool will already be considering bringing in the next generation of their forward line given the uncertainty surrounding Luis Diaz’s long-term future and the fact that Mohamed Salah is now far into his thirties on the other wing.

    Anthony Gordon

That might not happen this summer, in part because Newcastle United would prefer not to part with one of their most valuable assets—who joined from Everton for a reported £45 million in January 2023—to a perceived rival, even though financial regulations might force them to cash in on one player soon. Furthermore, Gordon has acknowledged that he has benefited from leaving Merseyside and is now better able to focus on his game.

However, past performance indicates that, should Liverpool want to examine Gordon more closely, it shouldn’t be written off entirely in the long run.

Most notably, the diversion from Everton to Liverpool has already been taken twice. Another Reds fan, David Johnson, started his career at Everton, when as a 20-year-old in 1970, he scored the game-winning derby goal. After Bill Shankly’s effort to sign Johnson was unsuccessful, he played for Ipswich Town for four years before joining Liverpool, where he won numerous titles and European Cups.

Steve McMahon started his career at his boyhood club, Everton, in the following ten years, but when he decided to leave in 1983, he selected Aston Villa over Liverpool, in part because of the seeming difficulties involved in moving directly across Stanley Park. Rather, two years later, he moved to Anfield, where he established himself as a key member of the squad that won two FA Cups and three league crowns.

There was a considerable gap between playing for the two Merseyside clubs after both transfers. Furthermore, one former Everton winger believes that Gordon’s appearance for Liverpool makes sense, even though any move for him may ultimately depend on the player pushing for a move.

Speaking to Prime Slots UK, Pat Nevin states, “I don’t think Evertonians have forgiven him for what happened at the end of his career there yet!” Anthony is really unique; he frequently interrupts others and reminds me of Jack Grealish prior to his move from Aston Villa to Manchester City.

“I’m not surprised by this rumour (about Liverpool), and I don’t think it should be discounted either. He can defeat players thanks to his incredible skills. Wingers much too frequently advance the ball up the pitch before turning around to provide a simple pass and end the threat.

“You pay 100 million pounds for someone who can break lines, drag others across, and create; you don’t pay that much for a winger to halt and turn around. Because they are rare in today’s football, these players are the ones on whom the money is being spent.

What is the duration of Mo Salah’s stay at Liverpool, and is he still as effective as he was in the past? Although he is still outstanding, Liverpool must consider their options because he cannot play for much longer. I believe he is that good, so it wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest.”

The 23-year-old who looked up to Gerrard as a child may cost Liverpool more than £100 million, according to a report.

    Anthony Gordon

Over the weekend, a pretty surprising transfer speculation involving Liverpool surfaced.

The Daily Star (via Daily Express) revealed on Sunday that the Reds are considering making a “surprise move” for Anthony Gordon, who was just crowned Newcastle’s Player of the Season and is valued at St. James’ Park at over £100 million.

The 23-year-old is rumoured to have drawn attention at Anfield, where LFC executives are considering him as a possible target for this summer’s transfer window—the first one to happen under sporting director Richard Hughes’ direction.

Prior to being released and joining Everton, where he advanced through the youth systems and into the first team before a £45 million move to Newcastle in January 2023, Gordon was actually signed by Liverpool as a young player.

The winger, who named Steven Gerrard his boyhood football idol, has tallied double figures in goals and assists in the Premier League this year. He must have done a lot well to be named the team’s top player ahead of Alexander Isak, who can score twenty goals.

One of those attackers might very well be sold this summer, as the Magpies are supposedly under pressure to offload important assets in order to abide by Financial Fair Play rules.

We’d be shocked if the Reds signed Gordon this summer, though, given the number of football players who have represented both of Merseyside’s top teams over the years (as our own Peter Kenny Jones thoroughly examined in his outstanding book Crossing the Park: The Men Who Dared to Play for Both Liverpool & Everton).

Even with his excellent season, it would be hard to justify paying a nine-figure transfer fee when Hughes and Michael Edwards could undoubtedly find an attacker of comparable calibre for less money. We wouldn’t be likely to take this specific rumour very seriously.

With their methodical acquisition of Arne Slot from Feyenoord, Liverpool has once again set the standard. The Reds wasted no time in guaranteeing that there will be some continuity following Jurgen Klopp’s final departure from Anfield.

The first team squad can rest easy knowing that a succession plan is in place, even though they will need to adjust to a new working environment and possibly a different management style.

Nothing is worse for a worker in any organisation than to believe that their employer—a venerable football team in this case—is not giving them enough guidance.

Three more will follow Arne Slot at Liverpool.

With the exception of the Super League fiasco, FSG has been steadfast in their support of its management and open about their goals ever since taking over the team.

The Reds are serious about their game, as seen by Slot’s approaching arrival. No more of those “will they, won’t they” types of situations that seem to be eating up far too much time at rival Manchester United.

The players for Liverpool will know exactly what to expect when they return for preseason when the season ends.

After a few weeks of work, it will be clear whether some of Klopp’s most devoted players can handle Slot’s style of play.

If nothing else, the manager will feel secure in the knowledge that he is surrounded by capable individuals.

This is due to the fact that sources have informed Football Insider that analyst Etienne Reijnen, head of performance Ruben Peeters, and assistant manager Sipke Hulshoff of Feyenoord have all decided to follow Slot to Liverpool.
