Chelsea News – Paul Merson predicted Mauricio Pochettino whom he succeeded in Chelsea, even if he had a brutal look at his difficulties so far

Former Arsenal Star Paul Merson succeeded in Chelsea in Chelsea, but rendered a brutal judgment on his current situation.

After changing ownership, the Blues are in a transition state last year, in which Blueco was taken over by Roman Abramovich.

You have transformed the club from top to bottom and transferred their structure from their players to rear teams.

The biggest change has been the strategy because they are trying to modify the recruitment policy for the purchase of young talents that the team will receive for the years to come.

During the three windows that had owned, around 1 billion pounds sterling were spent on transfers, which increased players’ turnover.

Last season saw a huge influx of talent but Chelsea failed to finish 12th in the Premier League after a difficult season.

There were further changes this summer with the appointment of new head coach Pochettino and a series of departures to trim the squad before further arrivals were made.

The former Tottenham manager had a slow start to life with the Blues, who were more dangerous in their game but picked up just four points from four games.

This has led to more questions about the expectations the team should be aiming for this season.

Shock Chelsea's Mauricio Pochettino is predicted as Paul Merson delivers a harsh judgement.
Former Arsenal star Merson slammed Chelsea but backed Pochettino’s success when speaking to Sky Sports about the departure. He said: “Chelsea have signed a million players and you’re like, ‘How do you choose a team from that group?’”

    “Chelsea is about winning trophies.
It’s not about Tottenham trying to get into the top four, but that’s what it’s about – and doing it so quickly. If you read this book on vacation, you would throw it in the trash.
    Wed.
You might think, “That’s the biggest amount of trash.
    It can’t happen.

“Chelsea had all these great young players they were producing, a team that had just won the Champions League and now you look at that and you’re like, ‘How did that happen?
“It’s like Men in Black –

Someone has turned the pen and you’re like, ‘What happened?’ Mauricio Pochettino will get there because he’s a good manager, but it’s going to be difficult. If they finish in the top four, they will cut down trees.

“They bought too many equal players. Enzo Fernandez is of a different class, much better than the others. But how long will he last?
There is not enough cheating in the team.” No player passes the ball through the eye of a needle.

“Teams will go to Stamford Bridge, line up ten players behind the ball and counter-attack.
I said on Saturday that Chelsea would be beaten 1-0.
I know how difficult they are against teams that have ten players in defense. They can.
Don’t let teams fall apart. It’s like watching Subbuteo football: there’s no movement.Unless Fernandez finds that killer pass, no one else will…

“These players all have eight-year contracts, so I don’t know where this is going.
Maybe you’ll get the book out of the sea again and see how this plays out.”

The latest Chelsea market news and gossip, including updates on Mauricio Pochettino, Nicolas Jackson and Mykhailo Mudryk’s post-International break plan

Mauricio Pochettino will certainly use the next two weeks wisely as the international break comes straight after the 1-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest.

Positives may seem hard to come by, but the return of Reece James is coming soon. Romeo Lavia is also closer to making his debut after arriving from Southampton this summer and fears over a potential absence of Levi Colwill are easing.

Despite the transfer window being closed there could still be opportunities in the free player market and with other European windows still open there could be more windfall gains for West Londoners.

So with that said, stay with us at football.london as we keep you up to date with everything you need to know as it happens LIVE from Stamford Bridge

Sterling England create chances after Grealish retires

Chelsea star Raheem Sterling will remain absent from Gareth Southgate’s England side despite Jack Grealish withdrawing from the squad through injury, according to the Mail’s Sami Mokbel.

Four Chelsea players in Badiashile’s return leg

Positive results for Chelsea and Mauricio Pochettino seem hard to come by at the moment, but a major injury update will no doubt have given them a boost.
football.london understands Chelsea expect Benoît Badiashile to be eligible for selection for their Premier League clash with Bournemouth following international break.

The Frenchman suffered a serious hamstring injury towards the end of the 2022/23 season, forcing him to miss all of pre-season.

With the approximate date of Badiashile and Armando Broja’s return approaching, Pochettino shared the latest on the pair ahead of their Carabao Cup match with AFC Wimbledon.

“They won’t play tomorrow,” said Pochettino.
“We have to wait after the international break and then we’ll see.

Maybe Misha [Mykhailo Mudryk] is closer than Broja and Badiashile but we have to judge him day by day.

Badiashile’s prolonged absence therefore means Levi Colwill’s return has been thrust directly into the spotlight and Wesley Fofana has also been diagnosed with a serious injury over the summer.
After selling Kalidou Koulibaly, Chelsea signed Axel Disasi from AS Monaco and despite having plenty of attackers at his disposal, Pochettino has played both in every game alongside Thiago Silva.

In possession, Ben Chilwell is deployed on the left wing, while Colwill switches to left-back, Malo Gusto switches to right-back and Disasi and Thiago Silva play in the middle of the back line.

However, Badiashile’s expected return could be a dramatic turnaround and football.london have taken a look at how he could impact the squad with four potential players on guard.

Toney sends one-word message amid Chelsea transfer links

The latest Chelsea market news and gossip, including updates on Mauricio Pochettino, Nicolas Jackson and Mykhailo Mudryk's
Ivan Toney could be at the center of a truly breathtaking transfer battle in January as his betting violation ban is set to end in the first month of 2024.
The 27-year-old was found guilty by the FA of 232 bets, his eight-month suspension ended on January 14, 2023.

Chelsea and Tottenham are two Premier League clubs already considering a move for the Brentford striker, with Arsenal and Liverpool being hinted at by Toney himself as possible targets.

“I’ve been a Liverpool fan all my life, but from an early age I loved Arsenal,” Toney told the CEO’s YouTube podcast diary.

“I enjoyed seeing Arsenal, how they play and how passionate their fans are.” According to The Independent, Chelsea and Spurs are ready to fight for the signing of Toney, who the player himself has hinted could leave the Bees very soon.

“I don’t let any of this affect me,” he said in August.
“Of course it will continue in the background, but my job is to continue to train well when I have the chance.

Keep scoring and performing well in games, but I think everyone wants to play at the top.

“Not that Brentford aren’t there, but I feel like I’m playing for a big club, fighting for trophies, that’s the kind of thing everyone wants to do.
If I had any occasion, I would be stupid not to know more.

For Chelsea, Ivan Toney is considered a potential winter window target, according to the Evening Standard. Meanwhile, Tottenham could still be in the hunt for Harry Kane’s replacement in January despite signing Brennan Johnson for £47.5million from Nottingham Forest.

With many clubs likely to start shortlisting potential targets, Toney has sent a clear message to interested teams.

Caicedo and Jackson agree on Chelsea verdict

The latest Chelsea market news and gossip, including updates on Mauricio Pochettino, Nicolas Jackson and Mykhailo Mudryk's
Moises Caicedo has sent a message of defiance after his error played a key role in Chelsea’s 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Caicedo, starting only his second Premier League game for the club, lost control of his own half with a turnover that allowed the hosts to break and score.

Nicolas Jackson also responded to Caicedo’s post with a simple message in the form of two praying hands emojis.
Both men will now play central roles in the rebuilding of Pochettino but must first focus on working with their national teams.
    Toney’s transfer is being considered

Even though the transfer window closed just a few days ago, Chelsea are already lined up for their first signing in January.

The Blues welcomed a number of players to Stamford Bridge last summer but Mauricio Pochettino still seems dissatisfied with his attacking abilities.

According to the Evening Standard, Ivan Toney is considered a potential target for the winter period.

Caicedo points out Chelsea’s big transfer mistake

Chelsea have had an extremely busy summer transfer window, highlighting their determination to sign Moises Caicedo. Despite turning down a number of offers and believing Liverpool had completed an unthinkable transfer hijacking, the Blues struck a record £115million deal with Brighton to sign the midfielder in early August.
The signing was followed by a nightmarish debut against West Ham, with Caicedo coming on in the second half and missing a late penalty.
A quiet performance against Luton Town helped ease the pressure, but Caicedo was partly to blame for losing the ball in front of Nottingham Forest’s goal in Saturday’s 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge.

Nonetheless, there are still rumors that Caicedo would prove to be a great, albeit expensive, purchase for Chelsea, but his record move and former Blues star performance apparently exposed a major transfer mistake.

    Huge injury update from Chelsea

According to football.london, Chelsea believe Benedict Badiashile is fit for their Premier League game against Bournemouth after the international break.

The 22-year-old defender hasn’t played since May 13 due to a serious hamstring injury but is now close to getting back to full fitness which will mean a significant boost for Mauricio Pochettino.

Pochettino ask to make a significant change as "absolutely useless" Chelsea star slammed
After suffering a dispiriting 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest and hearing their own supporters jeer them at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea has received harsh criticism.

Mykhaylo Mudryk, a star for Chelsea, has been called “absolutely useless,” and manager Mauricio Pochettino’s strategies have also come under scrutiny after the Blues’ 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest.

Since Roman Abramovich’s club was purchased last year by a group led by Todd Boehly, Chelsea has spent an additional £1 billion. Despite their significant spending, Chelsea had their worst-ever Premier League season last year, finishing 12th, and things have not improved much under new manager Pochettino.

The Blues have only defeated newly promoted Luton Town once in four league games, and they have now lost two contests in which they had the majority of the possession.
In spite of having 76% of the ball and 17 shots against 10-man West Ham, Chelsea was defeated 3-1.
Against Forest, they had 77% of the ball and 21 shots.

As well as criticizing Pochettino’s strategy, Mudryk’s performance as a substitute, and Chelsea’s transfer activity, former Premier League striker Gabriel Agbonlahor questioned why he did not start with a back four against Forest.

Agbonlahor said on talkSPORT, “What I don’t understand with Chelsea is that they had 21 shots and guess how many were on target?
    Two.

“They’re getting into the positions, but they just don’t have the quality, and it seems to be a theme now.

“If you check social media, you’ll see that Chelsea signs players but still loses games.
They spent $1 billion. Why didn’t Chelsea buy a star with a quarter of that money?

“Make Paris Saint-Germain a Mbappe offer they can’t refuse, go ahead.

There you are, Daniel Levy, Harry Kane said.
Everything you want. You get two superstars for £150 million if you buy Harry Kane.

“Today, there were three center halves or five at the back. Gallagher, who doesn’t score goals, is there, and the pace is slow.

Caicedo made two errors there, and now they’re switching formations once more.
Why not begin with a back four?

“With no offense meant to Nottingham Forest, you should be playing four at the back against them. Pochettino may believe he has time, but if you keep losing, see if the Chelsea supporters agree.

The Chelsea star Mykhailo Mudryk provides a four-word update on his injury.
The 22-year-old could play for the Blues this weekend if he returns from injury.

Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk has announced he is back in training after picking up a minor injury ahead of the Blues’ game against Luton Town last weekend.

The 22-year-old was criticized for his poor performances in Chelsea’s first two games of the season against Liverpool and West Ham, failing to make a huge impact in either game.

However, he was ruled out of the Luton game with a training injury and Pochettino admitted he was disappointed Mudryk missed the game against the Hatters.

“I think he might need a few days to recover,” Pochettino said. “He won’t be available. Very disappointed with the situation, he played against West Ham for 45 minutes.

“He is a player we hope to help play the way he thinks he can. Disappointed, but at the same time it’s not a big deal. Maybe a week or a few days.”

Mudryk also missed AFC Wimbledon in the Blues’ 2-1 win in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night, as the Ukraine international was left out of the match-day squad.

But the star is on his way back, having shared on his Instagram story a photo of him and teammate Malo Gusto in training and sharing a hug. He finally tagged the France international with a blue heart emoji, with Mudryk captioning the post: “Happy to be back.” He could be part of Pochettino’s squad when the Blues play Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Chelsea have agreed a £40m deal plus £5m in add-ons for Manchester City winger Cole Palmer.

The 21-year-old has already agreed to move to Stamford Bridge. Personal appointments should be a formality and a doctor’s appointment is currently being arranged.

A £35million offer from the Blues was rejected earlier on Wednesday but quickly returned to the negotiating table to broker a deal for the striker, who was on the sidelines in Pep Guardiola’s squad.

Former City scout Joe Shields, who is now co-director of recruitment and talent, played a key role in securing the deal. Palmer struggled to establish himself at the Etihad Stadium and was an unused substitute in the treble winner’s last two games, despite his goal in a Super Cup win in early August.

He is still highly regarded for playing an integral part in England’s victory in the Under-21 European Championship this summer.

The move will see Chelsea’s summer spending exceed £400m and over £1bn for the three transfer windows since the Boehly-Clearlake takeover.

Palmer’s arrival will be Chelsea’s latest outlay, with player sales topping the agenda until the 11pm deadline on Friday.

The transfer of Romelu Lukaku to Roma should take place shortly, while negotiations are still underway for the permanent transfer of Callum Hudson-Odoi to Nottingham Forest. Ian Maatsen, Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah still face an uncertain future. Maatsen is interested in a permanent contract with both West Ham and Burnley, while Chalobah is in the sights of Bayern Munich.

Tottenham continue to monitor Gallagher’s availability, having previously had the option to sign him.

Mauricio Pochettino asserted that the transfer was decided by the club hierarchy.

Mauricio Pochettino, the manager of Chelsea, has acknowledged that the decision to acquire Cole Palmer from Manchester City came from the club hierarchy, even though he is looking forward to working with Palmer.

On the day of the transfer deadline, Palmer completed his initial £40 million move to the Blues, leaving his boyhood club Man City, where he had previously played 13 years earlier.

Pep Guardiola hinted in August that the 21-year-old might sign a permanent contract with another club, but Chelsea intensified their pursuit of him in the latter part of the month before concluding their acquisition on Friday.

Prior to Chelsea’s match against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, Palmer is anticipated to be introduced at Stamford Bridge. Pochettino answered questions about the specifics of the agreement during his pre-game press conference.

“I believe the owner [Todd Boehly] and the sporting directors [Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley] as well as the owner, of course, but the sporting director, it was his idea to add him to the squad.
He seems qualified for the job, in my opinion.
Of course, he was a talented player, Pochettino said.

“He also made the decision to come because he anticipated playing more and being more significant here, but I don’t believe that’s the most crucial reason. He made the decision to come because he wanted to work on improving his game and being more involved in each and every game at Chelsea.

“I believe there is quality and great potential, but he must first establish himself, demonstrate his superiority to his teammates, and play.
It’s challenging to defend his position.
    “.
Palmer was Chelsea’s 12th and final addition during another busy transfer period, bringing Boehly’s total spending during his time as co-owner and chairman to more than £1 billion.

'Clearly': Journalist hints Mauricio Pochettino isn't a big fan of £29m Chelsea player anyway
Graeme Bailey has hinted that Mauricio Pochettino is actually not a big fan of Noni Madueke at Chelsea.

The trusted and respected journalist spoke out on the Talking Transfers podcast.

    What is the problem?

Well, actually it was Graham Potter, not the Argentine, who signed the England Under-21 international from PSV Eindhoven in January.

Pochettino was also in charge of Tottenham when Madueke left Spurs for the Netherlands in 2018. The South American has given the 21-year-old just 15 minutes of Premier League action so far this season and has now signed very similar Cole Palmer from Manchester City for £45m. giving the £29m player more competition.
    Go with it.

Now Bailey has hinted that Pochettino’s transfer to Palmer means Madueke is not in his good books.

The reporter said: “I think they might be ready (in the transfer window). Palmer emerged after Olise said no. Bradley Barcola has turned his back on interests, he seems to be going to PSG.

'Clearly': Journalist hints Mauricio Pochettino isn't a big fan of £29m Chelsea player anyway
“They say they are doing nothing. Conor Gallagher, it doesn’t look like he’s leaving right now. Chelsea want Gallagher to stay and sign a new contract. However, if someone comes along and offers £50million, they are ready to let it go.

“I think it depends on who Pochettino considers a player. Obviously, I don’t think he’s a big fan of Madueke.”

Noni Madueke could face Chelsea move in January

The 2023/24 season hasn’t started well for Madueke despite scoring against AFC Wimbledon on Wednesday.

The Chelsea No.11’s situation currently looks quite grim under Pochettino. If Palmer’s arrival means he has even less playing time, he could have a big decision to make in January.

Madueke is far too talented to sit on the bench and if Pochettino really doesn’t like him, he might have to go for an exit while his value is still high. I hope the winger born in London can familiarize himself with the good books of the 51 -year -old man and become an important player at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea news: Strasbourg fans continued their protests over BlueCo’s £65m takeover of the club in Sunday’s 2-0 win over Toulouse

Chelsea’s takeover of Ligue 1 club Strasbourg continues to anger the club’s supporters. The company that owns Les Bleus took a first step in building a multi-club network with the takeover of the French club in June.

BlueCo, made up of Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, invested in a stake in Strasbourg at the start of the summer to acquire almost 100% of the club. BlueCo paid around £65million for their participation and the Ligue 1 outfit are in their first season under new ownership.

Former Arsenal midfielder Patrick Vieira was appointed as head coach shortly after taking over, before Brazilian wonderkid Angelo Gabriel was loaned to the club for a season after signing from Chelsea earlier this summer.
It’s a decision that has fans worried.
Strasbourg Ultras expressed their dissatisfaction with Boehly & Co.’s involvement in the club by demonstrating in late June. A message appeared on the Internet saying “Boehly is not welcome”.

Well, in Sunday’s 2-0 Ligue 1 win over Toulouse, Strasbourg fans once again made their feelings clear and protested against the multi-club model. A banner in the stands read “No to timeshare”. Which translates to “No to multi-ownership”.

Chelsea co-owner Behdad Eghbali was present at the Stade de la Meinau to see Strasbourg rise to fifth in the Ligue 1 table thanks to goals from Emanuel Emegha and Jean-Richer Bellegarde. Strasbourg chairman Mark Keller has previously said Le Racing won’t just be a development area for Chelsea prodigies in an effort to allay grievances among supporters.

“It’s not the project,” he said in an interview with L \ ‘Equipe. “We had meetings with the sports management to define the objectives. We will have more resources to be more ambitious. Mauricio Pochettino is now very keen to sign a £52m striker this week, having previously coached him
Reports from France say Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is now very keen on the signing of Sporting Lisbon winger Marcus Edwards.

According to Foot Mercato, the Blues have the option of activating his £52m release clause if they decide they want him this summer.

Edwards is one of many names linked to becoming Chelsea’s latest signing in the transfer window.

Fabrizio Romano has already said that the club’s next induction will be the most shocking to date.

That will certainly take some effort, after they already shattered their transfer record earlier this summer by bringing in Moises Caicedo. The coach has hinted regularly in recent weeks that he hopes to add an attacking profile to his ranks. This is likely due to the injury Christopher Nkunku suffered at the end of pre-season.

One candidate for this role is Edwards, who has shined in Portugal since he left Tottenham as a youngster.

He had previously been coached by Pochettino in north London, and the manager was full of praise for his work whilst there.

The Argentine even made a comparison with Lionel Messi when describing him. It remains to be seen if the Englishman is the one Chelsea will choose as they strengthen their ranks.

Yesterday, the Blues claimed to have a shortlist of up to ten players which they are currently considering to fill the void they see.

Other names linked include Barcelona’s Ansu Fati, Arsenal star Emile Smith Rowe and Manchester United outcast Jadon Sancho.

Chelsea spent over £300m in the summer transfer window after spending £600m on signings last season

Chelsea are set to confirm two transfers ahead of their next Premier League clash against Luton Town on Friday night. The Blues have already spent over £300m this summer, taking their total signing spend to over £900m in the past 12 months.

The Blues have already signed eight signings, including several young players, and Mauricio Pochettino are still waiting for at least a few more signings before the window closes, football.london reveal. Chelsea have picked up just one point from their opening two Premier League games but are hoping for drastic improvements from last season.

Several departures are still expected in the final stages of the transfer window, including Romelu Lukaku and Callum Hudson-Odoi, who are looking to leave Stamford Bridge on permanent contracts. The future of Trevoh Chalobah and Conor Gallagher remains uncertain ahead of the final nine days of the summer transfer window.

Chelsea are now expecting to sign goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic from the New England Revolution. The Blues reportedly agreed a deal with the MLS club on Monday, reportedly worth £12.5m plus a further £1.5m in surcharges.

    Petrovic
Petrovic will fly to England in the coming days to finalize his move to Chelsea. A medical is scheduled ahead of the Blues’ game against Luton Town on Friday. The 23-year-old keeper won’t be the only confirmed signing this week as Deivid Washington has already passed a medical and an announcement should be made “soon” according to Fabrizio Romano. The West London club are looking to add at least one more attacking option to their ranks before the transfer window closes. Pochettino wants a right winger who can also operate as number 10 through the centre, football.london understands this.

Mohammed Kudus and Rayan Cherki remain in Blues care, but other targets are under surveillance. A deal to sign Michael Olise from Crystal Palace collapsed last week.

Chelsea plan a stunning move for Arsenal star Emile Smith Rowe before the summer transfer window closes
Chelsea are considering a late move for Arsenal star Emile Smith Rowe ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline.

The Blues have spent almost £1billion since being taken over by Todd Boehly last year, including £350m this summer alone.

Despite the ten signings, Mauricio Pochettino is hoping for another attacking option as new signing Christopher Nkunku is out with a knee injury.

As reported by the Daily Mail, Chelsea are considering a move for Arsenal academy youngster Smith Rowe, with Barcelona duo Raphinha and Ferran Torres also being considered at Stamford Bridge.

Although the report says Chelsea’s interest in the trio has not progressed at the time of this writing, they are being discussed by Chelsea senior management with just five days to go until the summer transfer window. Smith Rowe joined the Arsenal first team in 2020 and signed a new five-year contract in 2021 amid speculation over his long-term future in north London.

After suffering groin problems at the start of last season, the 23-year-old underwent surgery which saw him miss the first half of the 2022/23 season when Arsenal challenged Manchester City for the title.

Returning to the team in January, he failed to start a single league game in the second half of the season. Smith Rowe has been on the bench for Arsenal’s first three games of the new season, with Fabio Vieira coming on and impressing before him in the weekend’s draw against Fulham.

Arsenal sought to further cut their squad ahead of the deadline after Kieran Tierney sealed his loan move to Real Sociedad on Sunday. Folarin Balogun is also expected to leave on a permanent deal with Arsenal by signing a £40m deal with Monaco for the US international.

On Friday, asked about Arsenal’s outgoing activities in the coming weeks, Arteta said: “Some movement is happening.

“The last week will be busy, we can’t announce anything at this time.”

West Ham had previously been interested in Smith Rowe but reports at the time indicated that Arsenal had no plans to sell the youngster.

Loïc Désiré (Strasbourg chief scout) will discuss the players we might be interested in, if any. You also have to want to come to us.

What Romeo Lavia did to his new Chelsea teammates following Raheem Sterling inspires Luton Town victory
Romeo Lavia was at Stamford Bridge to watch his new Chelsea team-mates celebrate their first Premier League win of the season against Luton Town on Friday.

Romeo Lavia walked through the Stamford Bridge tunnel after Chelsea’s 3-0 win over Luton Town on Friday, likely to congratulate his new team-mates on the significant win.

Lavia sat alongside club co-owner Todd Boehly in the directors’ box at The Bridge, where the midfielder watched his new side claim the crucial three Premier League points. The Belgium international ended up securing a comfortable win for the Blues against newly-promoted Hatters in west London, with Mauricio Pochettino recording his first win as Chelsea head coach.

Raheem Sterling opened the scoring with a superb solo in the 17th minute to continue his form. It was only midway through the second half that the hosts found the second goal at Stamford Bridge when Sterling struck again from a fine Malo Gusto cross into the box. Moments later, Sterling became the assist, delivering a perfect cross into the box to give Nicolas Jackson his first goal in a Chelsea shirt. It was the culmination of a promising evening for the Blues and Pochettino, who looked content on the touchline after a frustrating first two games as head coach.

What Romeo Lavia did to his new Chelsea teammates following Raheem Sterling inspires Luton Town victory
Lavia would have been delighted with what he saw from his new teammates as he continues his work behind the scenes to be ready to play as soon as possible. Pochettino admitted at Thursday’s press conference that the 19-year-old is still a long way from making his debut for the club who bought him for £58million earlier this month.

“Lavia, no,” Pochettino replied when asked if the Belgian is ready to play. “He needs a few weeks to prepare for the team. He works to catch up with his teammates. We have to wait a few weeks for Romeo.

Lavia joined Chelsea in a £58m deal – £55m plus £3m in add-ons – earlier this month after opting for the Blues over Liverpool, who held a leadership role for the teenager throughout the summer. In an interview with Chelsea’s official website after the signing, Lavia explained his decision to choose Stamford Bridge as his new home rather than Anfield.

“Three factors determined my decision,” Lavia said. “The project and the ambitions of the club were key factors in my decision to join Chelsea, as was the history of the club. It’s really exciting to be part of this football club and to write a bit of history .”

“I’m really happy and proud. It’s a privilege to wear this shirt. Most of the players we signed are players I’ve played against and they say to me ‘ooooof, these players are good’, so it It’s a great feeling to be able to work with them. “These are young and good players, so it’s nice to improve each other. That’s the only way to be successful.”

Chelsea’s co-director of recruitment and talent Joe Shields was also instrumental in the signing, football.london has learned. Previously at Southampton, Shields was responsible for Lavia’s move to St Mary’s from Manchester City last summer and he is said to have been instrumental behind the scenes in persuading the midfielder to move to West London.

Chelsea fans are eagerly awaiting the chance to see Lavia in the famous blue shirt. He will continue to work behind the scenes to eventually be able to respond to Chelsea’s midfield and give the team a boost.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has moved to Chelsea as he congratulates Hakim Ziyech on his move to Galatasaray. The 30-year-old winger had an uncertain future in West London for a while before finally securing a move to the Turkish top flight.

Like the Morocco international, Aubameyang struggled to break into the first team at Stamford Bridge and spent much of the season on the bench before finding a new club in the summer. In his Instagram story, the Marseille ace wrote: \”All the best my brother. Free Hakim *crying laughter emoji* *clapping fist emoji* *heart hands emoji*. \”

Ziyech then reposted Aubameyang’s post to his Instagram story. Unsurprisingly, Chelsea fans have not been happy with the Gabonese international’s coup at the club and have been expressing their feelings online.

Asked if he could reinstate Romelu Lukaku in the Chelsea squad, Mauricio Pochettino replied: “It’s not just one team, it takes two teams to find the best solution. You can’t just put it on the club, it affects both sides.

“The situation is where it is because of both sides. Both sides have reached an agreement. Before signing, we were informed about each player’s situation,” added Pochettino. “After signing, we had the squad we had. It’s so clear that nothing has changed and if there’s anything to report, we’ll report it.

“We don’t have to do anything, I have to be focused on my team and try to do well. We can’t waste energy on a situation that was obvious before we arrived at Chelsea.”

Chelsea star absent from training despite Mauricio Pochettino's double injury boost
Chelsea news: Mykhailo Mudryk was absent from Chelsea training on Wednesday but there has been a double wave of injuries since.

Chelsea star Mykhailo Mudryk was absent from training on Wednesday as the Blues step up their preparations for Friday night’s game against Luton Town.

The Ukraine international was on the bench against West Ham at the weekend and showed promising signs of living up to the hefty transfer fee attached to his move. There were times when the winger’s crosses went wide or were intercepted while his finishing attempts are still questionable.

After struggling last season following the January move, it was hoped the 22-year-old could return to his best form. Problems with a lack of fitness have created problems that could ideally be solved by a full pre-season, although he has yet to feature under Mauricio Pochettino.

His absence from training might come as a slight surprise as Sky Sports report he is among the players missing on Wednesday morning. It remains to be seen whether this is due to injury concerns, a precautionary measure or some other reason ahead of the third game of the season.

Pochettino is reinforced by two returnees who seem expected: striker Armando Broja and defender Benoit Badiashile. The former is coming back from an anterior cruciate ligament injury he suffered late last year which horribly ruled him out for the rest of the season.

The Cobham academy graduate is back in training, although he is unlikely to be back in action anytime soon after suffering such a serious injury. The head coach also hinted that Broja was thinking long-term, suggesting a new striker shouldn’t slow his development.

As for Badiashile, the defender impressed after his transfer in January but late-season injuries carried over into pre-season and he was sidelined for months. A return to training is also on the cards as the club have confirmed the centre-back will train with the ball on the pitch when he returns to form.

All in all, Pochettino is confident that the end of the light injury crisis will come to an end in the coming weeks, although doubts remain over Mudryk’s recent absence.
