The competition to sign “one of the best” English talent has now been won by Liverpool.

Trey Nyoni, a midfield prospect for Leicester City, is reportedly on his way to joining the Liverpool academy after the Reds reportedly beat out other teams for his signature.

The 16-year-old England youth international was signed by the Merseyside giants ahead of competing teams, according to the Secret Scout, who rate Nyoni as “one of the best” players in the nation.

Harvey Owen, a 14-year-old Wolves player, is the only significant addition to the Reds’ youth ranks this window despite Liverpool’s limited academy additions this summer.

Nyoni, a Leicester teenager who impressed with the Foxes last season in the U-18 Premier League and FA Youth Cup, could nevertheless be a significant acquisition for Liverpool.

And now the midfielder will move to Liverpool this summer, where Nyoni will be an exciting new addition to the team’s academy and a potential future senior player for Jurgen Klopp.
