Liverpool
131st birthday of Liverpool FC

Today marks the 131st anniversary of Liverpool Football Club.
The club was officially formed on June 3, 1892 when founder John Houlding received the below certification from the Board of Trade recognizing his newly formed team.
The process that led to the formation of LFC actually began in March that year when a bitter row between Houlding and his close associates led to their parting ways with Everton FC.
With an empty Anfield stadium and no team to play there, Houlding quickly opened a new stadium – thanks to his friend William E. Barclay for the name suggestion. They agreed on a mission statement: “That the club will be called Liverpool Football Club and play under the rules of the Football Association.”
On 3 June, Houlding and his friends were informed that Liverpool Football Club and Athletic Grounds Company Limited had been officially recognised.
And the rest, as they say, is history.
