Hopefully Gusto will be able to provide support and competition for Reece James given the England international’s continued injury woes in recent seasons. Benoît Badiashile is out with a long-term injury and while football.london understands the Frenchman is aiming for a pre-season return, the game against Liverpool may be too soon.

However, Chelsea are well equipped defensively with Levi Colwill, Thiago Silva, Wesley Fofana and Ben Chilwell giving Pochettino a choice.

According to reports from Italy, Juventus star Federico Chiesa is open to a move to Premier League giants Liverpool.

The 25-year-old made just 21 appearances in the series last year, including only six since the start. This was partly due to seven separate injury issues, but his playing time was largely limited by Massimiliano Allegri’s preferred system.
