  • Marc Guehi’s Arsenal Stance Could Clear the Way for Liverpool to Seal $69M Deal

Marc Guehi’s Arsenal Stance Could Clear the Way for Liverpool to Seal $69M Deal

Liverpool Eyeing Marc Guehi as Quansah Set for Leverkusen Switch

Hello and welcome to this developing story — I’m reporting live on a key update from Liverpool’s transfer activity.

In a move that could shake up the Reds’ backline, Jarell Quansah is poised to complete a transfer to Bayer Leverkusen, opening the door for a defensive reshuffle at Anfield. With Quansah set to exit, Liverpool are now prioritizing the signing of Marc Guehi, and I’m hearing he’s firmly at the top of their list.

Now, here’s where things get interesting — Arsenal, another Premier League giant, is also in the hunt for Guehi. However, their pursuit could hit a snag if they land Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia. Should that happen, it might just clear the path for Liverpool to move in decisively.

Let’s talk about Guehi for a moment. At 24, the Crystal Palace star has emerged as one of England’s most consistent centre-backs. With just a year left on his current contract, he could be available for a cut-price fee this summer — a potential bargain for clubs seeking long-term defensive reinforcements.

At Liverpool, the need for stability in central defense is growing. Not only is Ibrahima Konaté entering the final 12 months of his deal, but Virgil van Dijk turns 34 next month. Meanwhile, Joe Gomez is still working his way back after a hamstring injury that sidelined him in early February.

In that context, signing Guehi could offer both immediate and future cover. Sources close to the player suggest Anfield might be his preferred destination. In fact, earlier this week, reports surfaced that Guehi had told friends he would rather join Liverpool than move to Newcastle or Tottenham — both of whom have expressed strong interest.

From a tactical standpoint, Liverpool may have the upper hand. Unlike Arsenal, who boast the formidable duo of William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães — with both tied down to long-term deals — Liverpool may be able to offer Guehi a clearer path to first-team football, particularly if Konaté leaves next summer.

Over at Arsenal, Gabriel has just inked a new contract, and talks are ongoing with Saliba, whose current deal runs until 2026. Should Mosquera also arrive at the Emirates, Guehi’s playing time could become limited — something the Reds will be hoping to capitalize on.

According to The Guardian, Guehi is even open to seeing out his current Palace deal and leaving for free in 2026, though Liverpool would prefer to act swiftly to secure him this summer.

Liverpool have already made headlines this window with the signings of Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz, and Milos Kerkez, racking up a combined spend of around $250 million, including add-ons. And I can confirm — they’re not done yet.

With funds boosted by the exits of Caoimhin Kelleher, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and soon Jarell Quansah, Liverpool’s recruitment drive shows no signs of slowing down.

We’ll continue monitoring this developing story as it unfolds — stay tuned for more updates as Liverpool move closer to what could be a critical summer signing.

  • Latest on Harvey Elliott’s Transfer Value and Interest with Three Clubs Linked

Latest on Harvey Elliott’s Transfer Value and Interest with Three Clubs Linked

Harvey Elliott’s Future Hangs in the Balance Amid U21 Euro Heroics

Harvey Elliott is turning heads at the U21 European Championship—and not just for his goals.

The 22-year-old Liverpool midfielder has been in red-hot form for England U21s, netting four goals, including a stunning brace that booked the Young Lions a place in the final against Germany. With all eyes on Saturday’s clash, Elliott’s stock is rising fast—and so is the speculation surrounding his future.

Despite the growing noise, Elliott’s focus has remained on the pitch. But with the final just days away, the conversation around his next move is heating up. Sources now name Brighton, West Ham, and RB Leipzig as clubs closely monitoring the situation.

Elliott, who openly admitted at the end of the season that he may need to leave Anfield to avoid “wasting years” of his career, could be on the verge of a career-defining decision.

According to The Daily Mail, Liverpool would demand at least £40 million for a summer transfer—a remarkable profit from the £4.3 million they paid Fulham after a tribunal decision in 2021. Since then, Elliott has racked up 143 appearances in red.

But his 2024 season told a different story.

Under new head coach Arne Slot, Elliott logged just 826 minutes in all competitions. A damaging ankle injury early on saw him fall down the pecking order, starting just once in the Premier League—and only after the title was mathematically sealed.

Slot spoke candidly about Elliott’s struggles:

“Harvey is one of the players who hasn’t had as much playing time as he maybe deserves, but like some others, he’s in competition with so many good players that mainly I’ve chosen,” he said back in May.

“Also partly because he was injured for a long time… the first part after he came back from his injury he wasn’t the same as he was before.”

    But Slot added, encouragingly:

“The last few months he’s back to his old level again… I like him more now than I did the first months when he came back from his injury.”

That resurgence may be coming just in time.

As Elliott prepares for what could be his last game as a Liverpool player, plans for his next chapter—and that of teammates Tyler Morton and Jarell Quansah (who’s nearing a move to Bayer Leverkusen)—are expected to unfold shortly after the final whistle in Berlin.

Stay tuned—this summer could be pivotal for Harvey Elliott.

  • Liverpool sent a transfer demand amid Alexander Isak links, As Florian Wirtz decision was rendered

Liverpool sent a transfer demand amid Alexander Isak links, As Florian Wirtz decision was rendered

Liverpool’s summer transfer window is already heating up — and one name making serious waves is Alexander Isak. The Newcastle United striker, who was signed in August 2022 for a club-record £63 million, is once again being linked with a move to Merseyside.

This isn’t a new rumor. The Sweden international has long been admired by the Reds, even before he scored that decisive goal against Liverpool in last season’s League Cup Final at Wembley — a moment that secured Newcastle’s first domestic trophy in 70 years.

Adding fuel to the speculation, former Liverpool forward Robbie Keane has spoken out, insisting his old side must bring in a new striker this summer. Speaking to Betway, Keane didn’t mince words:

“I think Liverpool need a striker. Darwin Nunez looks like he’ll probably leave, and they’ll prioritise a real No. 9.”

The context here is clear. Both Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota are facing uncertain futures at Anfield.

Nunez, who only started eight Premier League matches last season, has been linked with a switch to Napoli, while clubs in Saudi Arabia are reportedly circling as well. Meanwhile, Jota kicked off last season strongly, starting in seven of the first eight league fixtures, contributing four goals and three assists across all competitions. But injuries disrupted his rhythm — first sidelined in October, then again early in the new year. Still, the Portuguese forward played a key role in helping Liverpool clinch the title.

Keane, however, is realistic about the potential shake-up in Liverpool’s attack:

“There’s talk about Diogo Jota going as well. I like Jota, he’s a good player and he can play in different positions, but I definitely think they’ll freshen things up.”

And freshen things up they have. Florian Wirtz, the highly-rated Bayer Leverkusen attacker, has officially joined the Reds. The 22-year-old arrives on Merseyside in a deal worth £100 million, with a potential £16 million in add-ons — a figure that could eclipse the British transfer record currently held by Moises Caicedo’s £115 million move to Chelsea in 2023.

Liverpool fended off intense competition from Bayern Munich, Manchester City, and Real Madrid to land the Germany international, and Keane couldn’t be more enthusiastic about the signing:

“Florian Wirtz is a wonderful player – very technical, very clever, he always picks the right pass and was brilliant under Xabi Alonso. He’ll fit in no problem at Liverpool.”

As for the upcoming season, Keane has no doubts about where his loyalty — and prediction — lies:

“Liverpool will be my pick for the title again next season. The squad they already have is strong, and then you add in a few players like Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong and you can only see them getting better.”

With the window still open and Liverpool already making major moves, it’s shaping up to be an intriguing summer at Anfield. Alexander Isak could yet be the next headline arrival.

  • Liverpool Plot Bold Triple Swoop to Land £84m Goal Machine – Talks Underway

Liverpool Plot Bold Triple Swoop to Land £84m Goal Machine – Talks Underway

A summer of change is sweeping through Liverpool, and Arne Slot isn’t wasting a second. After securing a dominant Premier League title in his first season at the helm, the Dutchman is aggressively reshaping the squad — five new players already in, with Milos Kerkez all but confirmed.

But despite the overhaul, one glaring gap remains: a natural No.9. And now, Victor Osimhen — the explosive Nigerian striker long coveted by Jürgen Klopp — has become Liverpool’s prime target.

Talks Active – But Napoli Hold Firm

According to TeamTalk, negotiations between Liverpool and Napoli are very much alive. But as expected, the path to a deal isn’t smooth. Napoli, despite Osimhen having just 12 months left on his deal, are refusing to lower their asking price: €75 million (£64 million).

An initial proposal from Liverpool reportedly involved a bold “equal exchange” — Darwin Nunez and Federico Chiesa (yes, the Juventus winger not currently on Liverpool’s books but linked to a broader deal) were part of the offer. But Aurelio De Laurentiis, Napoli’s notoriously tough president, isn’t biting.

“There is a market twining between Naples and Liverpool,” journalist Valter De Maggio told Radio Goal, via Area Napoli. “The English club wants Osimhen, and Napoli does not make discounts on the clause. It asks for the €75 million as per the contract.”

In Napoli’s eyes, Nunez is overpriced. They reportedly value him far below the €60 million Liverpool believe he’s worth — and on top of Chiesa, they’re demanding an additional €20 million.

Negotiation Standoff – But Not a Dead End

    Still, the door isn’t closed.

Liverpool opened to Napoli, proposing an equal exchange,” De Maggio added. “But the president of the blue club asks for Chiesa, Nunez and €20 million for the Osimhen card.”

That’s not a small ask — and it’s forcing Liverpool to rethink how the deal might take shape. Sources suggest the transfer could be broken into three separate moves to help balance books and avoid breaching Financial Fair Play regulations.

Interestingly, Nunez is said to have given the green light to a move to the Amalfi Coast, clearing a major hurdle should the clubs align on numbers.

    The Missing No.9

Despite all the early business this summer, Liverpool still lack a true No.9. The club has distanced itself from links to Viktor Gyokeres, while Hugo Ekitike remains on the radar. But the pursuit of Osimhen signals intent — and ambition.

Slot is clearly after a striker who fits his high-energy system — and Osimhen, with his blistering pace, physicality, and relentless pressing, looks tailor-made for this Liverpool.

    What This Means for Fans

From a supporter’s view, this is thrilling and maddening in equal measure. Osimhen is the type of striker who can terrorise defences across England. But the negotiations already have the familiar feel of a De Laurentiis standoff — and fans know how these drawn-out Napoli exits tend to play out.

There’s also intrigue around Chiesa’s involvement. While not a Liverpool player, his name keeps popping up in discussions. This could hint at multi-club negotiations, or existing clauses behind the scenes.

And for Nunez? It’s complicated. While his numbers have been erratic, his raw potential and passion made him a cult figure at Anfield. If he leaves, it might sting — even if it means bringing in someone more polished.

Final Word – Is It Worth It?

Arne Slot has won over the board and fanbase alike, but this deal might test both. Is Victor Osimhen worth giving up Nunez, a world-class winger, and a chunk of cash? Time — and tough negotiations — will tell.

If the numbers work and the fit is right, Liverpool could be adding one of the world’s most dangerous No.9s. But if Napoli continue to play hardball, the Reds will need to decide quickly — push forward, or walk away?

We’ll keep you updated on every twist in this developing saga — stay tuned, live from Anfield.

  • Slot Reveals Big Plans for ‘Superb’ Liverpool Talent Next Season

Slot Reveals Big Plans for ‘Superb’ Liverpool Talent Next Season

Liverpool might be splashing the cash in the transfer market, but don’t think for a second they’ve turned their back on youth development.

Throughout Jürgen Klopp’s reign, despite some blockbuster signings, the German tactician always made room for the club’s young prospects to show their worth. But under Arne Slot, things have looked slightly different.

Slot, known for favoring a more consistent starting XI, hasn’t handed out opportunities to academy players quite as liberally. That said, when talent shines, the Dutchman is paying close attention—especially in cup fixtures, where youth often gets its big audition.

And one young Red, in particular, has made such an impression that Slot has already earmarked him for a significant role next season.

James McConnell Poised to Break Through

I’m hearing from sources close to the club—and via journalist Lewis Steele—that James McConnell is the name on everyone’s lips right now. The 20-year-old midfielder, who’s been quietly making waves, met with Slot earlier this year. The message? Stay put—because he’s in Liverpool’s plans for the 2025/26 campaign.

Now, let’s not sugar-coat it: cracking into Liverpool’s midfield is no small feat. The competition is fierce. With players like Ryan Gravenberch locking down the holding role after a standout season, there’s little room for error. And with Wataru Endo also in the mix, McConnell has his work cut out for him.

Still, Steele reports that McConnell could become Endo’s understudy, positioning himself as second-in-command in the holding role. That’s huge news for a player who was widely expected to head out on loan.

Instead? McConnell stays. And according to those close to the dressing room, Slot rates him very highly.

A Taste of the Big Stage

Let’s not forget—McConnell’s already proven he belongs. When Liverpool faced PSV in the final group stage match of the Champions League, Slot opted to rotate heavily with qualification already secured. The Reds lost the game, but McConnell was a bright spot in midfield.

In fact, journalist David Lynch went as far as to call his performance “absolutely superb.” He led the team in tackles and drew comparisons to Gravenberch with his confident display.

Sure, one game doesn’t make a Premier League regular, but Slot’s notoriously selective with who he trusts. That McConnell’s being kept at Anfield, and not loaned out, speaks volumes about his readiness—and the belief the manager has in him.

The pressure will be immense. Liverpool will be defending their Premier League crown, and every minute on the pitch will count. But from what I’m hearing, James McConnell is more than ready to rise to the occasion.

Back to you from Anfield—watch this space, because McConnell might just be Liverpool’s next breakout star.

  • Liverpool Vice-Captain Poised for Arsenal Move After Turning Down New Deal

Liverpool Vice-Captain Poised for Arsenal Move After Turning Down New Deal

Arsenal Set to Land Liverpool Vice-Captain Taylor Hinds on Free Transfer

Big news breaking in the Women’s Super League — Arsenal Women are poised to secure the signature of Liverpool vice-captain Taylor Hinds on a free transfer this summer, The Guardian has reported.

The UEFA Women’s Champions League titleholders have identified Hinds as a critical addition ahead of the 2025/26 season. The versatile 26-year-old full-back is no stranger to the Gunners — she’s returning to the club where her professional journey began.

Hinds’ current deal with Liverpool runs out on June 30, and sources confirm she will make the switch once it expires. A graduate of Arsenal’s academy, Hinds made her senior debut back in 2017 in a dominant 7–0 FA WSL Cup win over London Bees. She later took her talents to Everton, before eventually settling at Liverpool, where she became a key figure over the past five seasons.

Her contributions at Liverpool were immense. She played a pivotal role in their 2022 promotion to the Women’s Super League, lifting the FA Women’s Championship trophy. Appointed vice-captain in 2023, Hinds racked up over 100 appearances in red — including 22 games in the 2024/25 campaign, during which she found the net twice, helping Liverpool finish seventh.

Internationally, Hinds now represents Jamaica, though she previously featured for England at youth level. She’s known across the league for her adaptability — comfortable on either flank or in midfield — as well as for her technical skill, pace, and vision. Former Everton teammate Chloe Kelly once called her “an attacking-minded full-back… who can play off both feet with great delivery into the box.”

While Liverpool made a strong push to retain her — even tabling a solid contract offer — it’s understood that the opportunity to return to Arsenal and play regular Champions League football tipped the scales. The uncertainty at Liverpool, still without a permanent manager since Matt Beard’s February departure, may have also influenced her decision. The club has confirmed Hinds’ departure was amicable and wished her the best in her next chapter.

From Arsenal’s perspective, this is a savvy and strategic acquisition. Hinds will offer cover and competition at full-back, especially for the likes of Emily Fox. Her arrival could also signal a potential departure — Austrian international Laura Wienroither, who was recently loaned out to Manchester City, may now be on the move permanently.

Off the field, Hinds has been a powerful voice for change. In March 2025, she earned widespread respect for speaking out against sexually inappropriate remarks made by a spectator during an FA Cup clash with Arsenal. Her statement drew backing from both clubs and was hailed as a landmark moment in the ongoing fight for safer, more respectful environments in women’s football.

Stay tuned — we’ll bring more updates as Arsenal finalizes the signing. For now, it looks like Taylor Hinds is set to return home.

  • Liverpool Sign Kerkez in £40m Deal as Summer Spending Surges Past £200m

Liverpool Sign Kerkez in £40m Deal as Summer Spending Surges Past £200m

This just in — Milos Kerkez has officially joined Liverpool from Bournemouth in a £40 million deal, as the Reds continue their major summer overhaul. The 21-year-old Hungarian left-back has signed a five-year contract, becoming Arne Slot’s latest addition to an already star-studded window.

“I’m really happy,” Kerkez told Liverpool’s official website. “It’s a real honour for me, a privilege to come to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world, [the] biggest club in England. I’m just really, really happy and excited.”

He added, “I’m going to give everything — absolutely everything — to win trophies with the club and to hopefully score some goals at Anfield. I can’t wait to hear the roar. And see you soon.”

Kerkez, who impressed last season at Bournemouth with two goals and six assists in 38 Premier League matches, will now compete for a spot alongside Andy Robertson. Liverpool have tracked the young full-back for some time, and his arrival is seen as a move to inject youth and dynamism into the flanks.

It’s also worth noting: Richard Hughes, Liverpool’s sporting director and a former Bournemouth executive, was the man who first brought Kerkez to England from AZ Alkmaar in 2023. He now reunites with the player on Merseyside.

Bournemouth, anticipating Kerkez’s departure, signed Adrien Truffert from Rennes earlier this month in a deal worth up to £14.3m.

This transfer pushes Liverpool’s summer spend over the £200 million mark, following the arrivals of Jeremie Frimpong (£29.5m from Bayer Leverkusen), Florian Wirtz (potentially a British-record £116m), and goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, who joins officially from Valencia on July 1st in a £29m move agreed last August.

According to Sky Sports’ Nick Wright, this signing signals Liverpool’s continued focus on refreshing their defensive line.

Liverpool moved swiftly to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold, announcing the signing of Jeremie Frimpong on the same day as his exit to Real Madrid was confirmed,” Wright noted. “They appear to be enacting their left-back succession plan with the same efficiency.”

However, Wright emphasized that this isn’t necessarily the end of Andy Robertson’s story at Anfield.

There is of course a big difference in that, as things stand, Milos Kerkez will be arriving from Bournemouth to compete with Andy Robertson rather than replace him,” he added. “But the need for fresh energy at left-back is clear as he enters the final year of his contract.”

From Anfield, it’s clear — Liverpool’s rebuild under Arne Slot is not just ambitious, it’s full throttle. Stay with us as we continue to track developments throughout the summer window.

  • Liverpool’s Pursuit of Marc Guehi Heats Up: Record Bid Expected Following Intense Scouting Mission

Liverpool’s Pursuit of Marc Guehi Heats Up: Record Bid Expected Following Intense Scouting Mission

Live update: Liverpool’s pursuit of a central defender this summer is gaining momentum, with Marc Guehi emerging as a top target. However, complications in a parallel transfer saga involving Crystal Palace could delay or even derail the move.

Liverpool has been eyeing a central defender for some time—since last summer, in fact. While the renewal of Virgil van Dijk’s contract eased immediate urgency, the potential sale of Jarell Quansah is expected to push Liverpool back into the market. Van Dijk, who turns 34 next month, means succession planning remains crucial, especially with Ibrahima Konate entering the final year of his contract, raising doubts over his future at Anfield.

Meanwhile, Joe Gomez, celebrating his 10-year anniversary at Liverpool, has shown his commitment to the club, but injuries have limited his impact. Liverpool still needs to strengthen its center-back options to ensure squad depth and quality.

That’s where Marc Guehi comes into the picture. The 24-year-old Crystal Palace defender has impressed consistently in the Premier League, and Liverpool sees him as a viable and affordable option. Guehi is in the final year of his contract and has reportedly made it clear he won’t extend. This puts pressure on Crystal Palace to sell now or risk losing him on a free next summer.

Yet, Palace isn’t expected to simply cave. Liverpool’s recent contract saga, which saw star players Van Dijk and Mohamed Salah sign extensions while Trent Alexander-Arnold left for a comparatively small fee, serves as a cautionary tale.

Crystal Palace has been actively scouting potential replacements, focusing heavily on Ousmane Diomande from Sporting Lisbon. But here lies the snag: a significant valuation gap exists between the two clubs.

Palace would need to break its transfer record to land Diomande—an amount previously set when signing Christian Benteke from Liverpool for $43.5 million (£32 million) back in 2016. Sporting, however, values Diomande closer to $69 million (£51 million), making negotiations far from straightforward.

This stalemate means Palace may hesitate to sell Guehi until they secure their target, creating a bottleneck in the transfer chain. Even if a deal proceeds, Liverpool risks facing inflated fees for Guehi, as Palace looks to cover costs from a potential Diomande purchase.

It’s worth noting a $95 million (£70 million) bid from Spurs for Guehi was rejected in January, but Liverpool hopes to agree on a figure closer to $54 million (£40 million).

In this delicate balancing act, Palace doesn’t hold all the leverage—losing Guehi for free next summer remains a genuine threat. Still, the longer Sporting holds firm on Diomande, the more Liverpool might consider shifting focus elsewhere.

This transfer saga is far from over. We’ll keep you updated live as it unfolds.

  • Liverpool’s Jeremie Frimpong Reveals the Heartwarming Reason He Kept His Anfield Move a Secret from His Dad

Liverpool’s Jeremie Frimpong Reveals the Heartwarming Reason He Kept His Anfield Move a Secret from His Dad

Jeremie Frimpong is officially a Red — and his journey to Merseyside began with a bit of family mischief.

The 23-year-old right-back became the first senior signing of Liverpool’s summer window after the club activated his £29.5 million release clause from Bayer Leverkusen. But before he packed his bags, Frimpong had one more task: keeping it a secret from his biggest fan — his dad.

In an exclusive chat with The Kop TV, Frimpong shared the touching (and slightly comical) story behind his low-key move.

My dad is a Liverpool fan,” he revealed. “So when the rumours were coming out I was like, ‘Oh dad, it’s not true, it’s not true’. All the family members wanted to surprise him.

That plan didn’t last long. Once transfer insider Fabrizio Romano began tweeting about the move, Frimpong’s cover was quickly blown.

When it got too much, when Fabrizio started talking, then obviously my dad’s not stupid. He was like, ‘Hey, Jeremie, is it true?’

I had to travel, and my dad was at my house asking too many questions,” Frimpong laughed. “So I was like, ‘Dad, I’m going to go to Liverpool to do my medical,’ and he’s like, ‘No! Really?’ I told him, ‘Yeah dad, I’m going to go play for your team,’ and he was just like, ‘No way’. It was a great reaction from him!

Frimpong arrives with impressive numbers: five goals and five assists in last season’s Bundesliga, and a remarkable 14 goals across all competitions the year before — not bad for a defender.

However, the real test begins now. With Trent Alexander-Arnold expected to transition into midfield, Frimpong will likely fill those massive boots at right-back. That said, he may need to adapt his game.

At Leverkusen, under Xabi Alonso, Frimpong thrived as a flying wing-back, granted freedom to surge forward. But at Liverpool, Arne Slot employed a traditional back-four throughout his debut season.

The 2025/26 campaign will mark Frimpong’s first taste of Premier League football — and he’ll do so not just as a top signing, but as a player fulfilling his father’s dream.

Stay tuned — this is just the beginning.

  • Liverpool Make Shock Move for Viktor Gyökeres, Beating Arsenal to the Punch

Liverpool Make Shock Move for Viktor Gyökeres, Beating Arsenal to the Punch

This just in — Liverpool have officially joined the high-stakes pursuit of Sporting CP’s prolific striker Viktor Gyökeres, placing themselves in direct competition with Arsenal and Manchester United, according to reports surfacing from Portugal.

I’m hearing that both Arsenal and United have already held in-depth negotiations with Sporting CP over a potential deal for Gyökeres. However, as of now, no agreement has been reached regarding the transfer fee.

Earlier this month, a key meeting took place in Menorca between Arsenal’s sporting director, Andrea Berta, and Sporting’s counterpart, Bernardo Palmeiro. The subject of that meeting? A formal bid for the Swedish striker — who, remarkably, netted 54 goals in 52 appearances last season.

That offer from Arsenal reportedly totalled €55 million (£46.8m) up front, with an additional €10m (£8.5m) in performance-related add-ons. But that bid was swiftly turned down by Sporting.

Now, Liverpool have entered the frame. The Merseyside club are said to be targeting Gyökeres as a possible replacement for Darwin Núñez, who has agreed personal terms with Napoli — though no fee has yet been settled with the Serie A champions.

According to Correio da Manhã, Liverpool have formally contacted Sporting CP to open discussions, and the Portuguese giants are demanding €80 million (£68.1m) for their star forward. While Gyökeres has a €100m (£85.1m) release clause, sources suggest Sporting are willing to negotiate below that threshold — but not without friction.

In fact, tensions appear to be rising inside the Lisbon-based club. Sporting president Frederico Varandas recently lashed out at Gyökeres’ representatives amid rumors of a pre-agreed fee.

Threats, blackmail and insults don’t work with me,” Varandas declared. “I can guarantee that Viktor Gyökeres will not leave for €60m plus €10m [£51m plus £8.5m] because I never promised him that. This game that the agent is playing only makes the situation worse.

Meanwhile, fresh reports from Portugal this week suggest that Gyökeres may now be prepared to take drastic measures — including going on strike — in an effort to push through a move to Arsenal, who are believed to be his preferred destination.

Manchester United remain firmly interested, but their lack of European competition next season is understood to be a significant drawback in Gyökeres’ eyes.

For now, the saga continues, with Liverpool now squarely in the mix. Keep it here for live updates as this transfer story develops.
